- DoKomi is Germany's largest and most highly anticipated event in the anime, manga, and Japanese culture community, drawing over 170,000 visitors in 2024. This vibrant convention is a gathering place for cosplayers, enthusiasts, and artists to celebrate their shared passions. The convention floor is a lively spectacle, filled with innovative cosplay costumes, breathtaking displays, and vibrant artworks. DoKomi has become a highlight of the anime, manga, and gaming calendar in Germany, attracting thousands of fans to Düsseldorf each year. This event seamlessly blends Japanese pop culture with German enthusiasm, creating a unique and unforgettable experience. DoKomi is not just a convention but a hub for talented artists and illustrators who display and sell their unique creations. From traditional manga-style illustrations to contemporary digital art, visitors can explore a wide range of creative styles and find one-of-a-kind pieces to add to their collections.
Beyond the convention, DoKomi leverages its location in Düsseldorf to offer attendees a taste of Japanese culture. The city’s dining scene, particularly in the Little Tokyo area along Immermannstraße, offers a wide range of Japanese delights such as ramen and sushi for visitors to enjoy.
A unique feature of DoKomi is the nearby Nordpark, a picturesque location where many cosplayers gather to take stunning photos. The beautiful park provides a perfect backdrop for capturing the intricate details of their costumes and enjoying the outdoor ambiance. I will cover the Nordpark in my next video.

Many ppl do buy genuine products and merch from Japan. Ppl in Europe usually pay at least double price than in Japan due to tax and shipping (import cost). Also for animation many do buy dvds/blue rays and so on. There are legal anime streaming websites nowadays like crunchyroll. Most ppl who like anime use that one the money returns to Japan for new animation and so on. At conventions unfortunately there are some sellers who sell pirated goods but usually ppl don't know it. However there are also always sellers who only sell 100% genuine Japanese goods

They mostly do serious and realistic cosplay. We couldn't see the funny ones like in Japan. serious event, i like that.

Sowas läuft rum aber seit dem Vorfall 2022 kein Tokyo Revengers cosplay mehr gesehen wegen dem Manji auf dem Mantel, da hat der doch echt ne Anzeige kassiert und Hausverbot dort bekommen, armes Deutschland vor allem die beiden Polizisten total ignorant und haben behauptet es würde sich um ein verbotenes symbol handeln was nicht stimmt.
Wenn's den Leuten Spaß macht sollen sie doch lassen. Es wäre ja etwas absurd den Leuten vorzuschreiben wie sie sich zu kleiden hätten.

In Asien ist das immer toll- die Deutschen sehen damit immer komisch aus. Nicht das gleiche. Eine deutsche im Kimono oder Ao Dai hat niemals diese Anmut- es sieht immer aus wie gewollt und nicht gekonnt.

I went to most of the mentioned places before filming and they were nothing special to me. So I skipped them while filming. I even went there 2 hours after filming to double check. And it was still the same. Maybe next year.

Many people seem to enjoy these videos and i get it but people running around with cameras constantly filming is what made me and my friends uncomfortable. Of course you have to expect to be on some photos and videos in todays day and age but imo this is too much. I just hope this wasnt on sunday when i was there.
Then better not come to such kind of events or even Japan Tag. At DoKomi or even at Japan Tag there are countless Twitch live streamers walking around everywhere, filming / live streaming themselves and the whole surroundings non-stop for the whole day. You’ll definitely end up in one of their streams, which are getting millions of views and are accessible even after the live streaming ends. No matter what. Unless you wear a full body cover, cosplay suit.

@@k3kskuchen then please convince the politicians or ask DoKomi to ban all live streamers from their event, which they won’t do as they even dedicated half of a halls section this year to event live streamers who walked around and filmed the whole event.
