    This is precious. We never really know about the things we left behind.
    I read this story once about someone buying an old book from an antique store, not thinking much of it. They opened the book, and on the cover it was written "For my dearest Mabel, Merry Christmas 1912".
    Idk why but seeing how physical things live past the lives of their owners seems so poetic to me.

    • @TheTreyBombay
      @TheTreyBombay 3 года назад +44

      That's the way I feel about every old car I buy, thinking about how it was once a brand new shiny car right off the line, and someone's dream that they put so much work into getting. Almost like the song "Riding With Private Malone", each old car has a history, some tragic.

    It's crazy how things like that work out!
    One time about 15 years ago I got out off the car at the curb in front of my house, and I looked down and saw something shiny sticking out of the dirt. I started rubbing the dirt with the underside of the toe of my shoe and kept rubbing until the object started to reveal itself, and it was a ring.
    When I showed my mother the ring it turned out to be a ring that my great-aunt had given her when she graduated high school back in the 70s. She said she hadn't seen that ring in over 20 years. My great aunt passed away seven years ago and I'm so happy that ring is one of the things that we have to remember her by.

    my late friend lost his high school class ring going through a tollbooth outside of Chicago. he graduated from casa robles high school in Orangevale, California in 1972 and had been stationed at Chanute AFB in 1977. I wonder if anyone ever found it. He passed away Sept. 17 of this year.

    Awesome story!
    Someone robbed my apartment in Venice Beach, and stole my high school class ring. It was from Arroyo Grande high school class of 1972. It was gold with is big sapphire.
    Sure wish a miracle would bring it back to me!!!

    I had a similar moment- I think I was 9 years old when I was just digging in front of my cousin's yard and I found something yellow and hard. I dug more and found a golden ring it said 1850 (it was also heavy) I didn't really know if it was really gold then I showed it to my cousins but they said throw it away from its probably fake, but I kept it. I think a year later I lost it.

    My grandfather had a ring like that. (I think it was more like a military ring) The ruby was so real and mom tried to pawn it but soon backed out. She lost it instead. I was so upset cause I loved that ring.

    My ex wife in texas had my plaque that i got from the air force while in korea in a storage unit. Well i got extended and she ended up stop paying for the storage unit (i didnt know it was in a storage unit) so it went to auction i believe. My beautiful plaque was in there with my name on it and a personalized message on there from the squad i was in about their experience from me. I loved that thing. It was big and beautiful and meant a lot to me and i no longer have it. I could only hope and pray that someday this would happen and not someone throwing it out :(
