this was really helpful!! thank you A-chan for explaining it (especially with the graph) and thank you Yura for translating this for us!!! super helpful!!!
Different strategy? Hmm, maybe less gaming/zatsudan and more focus on media appearances, variety shows, professional voice acting, and expansion of Holo no Graffiti (beyond short skits)? I think that's an area Cover might want to tap into. But most importantly I hope everyone has fun.
So my understanding is, the Holo groups (HoloJP, HoloEN and HoloID) are more for general streaming and occasional music talents, whilst Dev_Is is akin to AKB48, in that their activities will involve more group activities instead of them doing stuff on their own. Like FuwaMoco, but bigger in numbers.
even if project failed they can just transfer them to hololive just like azki and suisei.... because hololive became big they want to show us something diffrent than what they been show us till now.
Maybe they will also be a bit more isolated from the rest and focus more on music production and live stuff. Reason being, that with en, jp and id basically collabing and interacting all over the place it's gotten terribly difficult to plan and manage. But it's that brand of fun and shenanigans that we love, so we'll see what happens and how it works out
I wonder what's the main difference between DEV_IS and the old INNK, the current info is that they are similar to V-Singer, which is probably similar to how INNK work, i.e. they really focused on music. I dunno how successful is INNK, but IMO both Azki and Suisei have a better growth as the main group, as they have regular stream (games, zatsu, singing, and collab) gives them more chance to show their personalities.
@@SkyArrow1712It was never a joint venture between upd8 and Cover. It was always a Cover only owned project that started and ended that way. well one thing we know hololive/cover always learn from their failure in the past especially when they still young company for example, before there was Mel's stalker and that was her own manager => learn from that now manager is female and always get shuffled with time period i bet cover/hololive already learn about their failure from INNK so they brave enough to stabilize new group maybe YAGOO still believe about his "IDOL GROUP" dream
@end3790 that stuff is out of Covers control plus they did learn by releasing a Video along with Thier announcement to avoid Bot detection by RUclips, Cover still has lots to learn and them venturing to new grounds is always a plus. What worries me is the amount of money spent on these projects, If these don't give them profit they will end up being in the hands of the Investors which will end up putting them and the talents in real problem which can lead to Thier downfall
Possibly similar to INNK, Project Hope, or Blue Journey, their music projects have all already been planned and paid for months or years in advance but in exchange they have no creative control over it unlike the regular girls who have to wait for a budget to be allocated to them, but they have control and can then top it off with their own money for extra bells and whistles depending on what they want.

They tell you that it's a different branch, that their strategy is different but they don't explain exactly what makes them different... I guess they'll tell you in the debut.
Even with the diagram they're still dancing around just telling us what the group is really about. People are speculating what they're really about but I personally just want to know the details so that I'll know if it's something I'd be interested in or not. Things are already harder for me personally not being a JP speaker but despite that I have found many JP talents that I enjoy watching so I'm always open to adding another one but I do need to know a bit more before I jump in.
More like, Yagoo gives up of his dream with current members and try to make a new sister group to live up his dream again. Will this become another broken dream? We just need to see later 😂😂😂
It does remain to be seen how different the handling for DEV_IS will be, and whether said difference will be seen on our end. For example, IIRC the main difference between IRyS as a VSinger and everyone else in Hololive is how her music production is handled, otherwise her upfront streaming activities are no different from the others. Given that their profiles still list their individual skills like Ao being a manga artist or Raden's interest in Rakugo, I believe they'll still have their own individual streams and such, but their official appearances will have more planning and a more coherent direction. I imagine that talents under DEV_IS will have a much more coherent marketing strategy as a group, as seen by their coordinated appearances that we haven't seen in any other previous group before: while gens like Council, HoloX, and Advent have a central theme to them they're all still individually different from each other in terms of appearance, whereas ReGLOSS pretty much have a coordinated outfit appearance with red and white colors, star motifs, and the ReGLOSS branding explicitly plastered on them.
I hope DEV_IS can be a mix that emphasis to be a group activity like, they debut as "idol group" which combine all region branch (mix jp, id, en), not doing game or talk stream but a lot of singing and concert as real idol group
I'm led to believe that calling their new branch "device" means they're an experimental technology group. Tech-wear designs, and their Shunkan Heartbeat MV even has a "hello world" in what is either C++ or C#. Hopefully, they get to really explore the use of that whole VR studio, and open up avenues for further investment in the technology.
With the varying backgrounds of the talents, I'm assuming it's like a small production house/studio creating varied multimedia contents? If so, that's fascinating from a business perspective.
They are probably under separate management who run independently without being controlled by Hololive that much. They use Hololive name as the brand image, but the management is completely separated. I won't that surprised if Dev_is it self is actually an external IP who is being managed under Hololive brand.
Im guessing that they want to do something more like a normal idol group, and if that kind of content doesn't end up working out, i guess they could always just end up merging them into the main group.
Maybe it's like fuwamoco where activities are done in tandem, but for them they do them as a group. Also they'll probably use 3D more since their tech is getting better
I like how Hiodoshi Aoi acted like a bot on Twitter greeting her senpai from boys and girls alike..She asserted height dominance on Astel LoL.. Talking about having huge guts on that cursed seaweed especially on the taboo thing (height).
Didn't really explain anything we didn't already know. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what it's all about. Probably an idol group like everybody's theorizing.
If Dev_Is is more dedicated to music, then that means maybe my dream of a generation dedicated to metal is within reach. HoloMetal! And we can still get a 7th gen.
Honestly I'm still confused, guess we'll find out when the girl's debut and find out if they warranted a different branch or could have just been made into Gen 7 with time.
Seeing people still confuse about "what's the differences, is it necessary to separate?" even after watching this video, then I think you can simply just wait for their debut and actual activities first before being judging to it, aside to it you can just watch them like any of the holomems normally without caring about the whole branch thing if you keep pressing on it doesn't make anything new. On a business look, it is a separate project need with different managing, resources, thing that you probably don't care as viewers 👍
Still not sure if DEV-IS is focused with v-singers or new experimental content for new japanese audience. We got Advent EN now, it feels the new branch is rushed and not aiming for long livestreams.
i can't think of how hololive dev_is can be different. if its cover attempting the v-singer concept again, azki, suisei, calli, watame have a big discography that imo would qualify them as a v-singer. if its an idol group, what could possibly make them different than NePoLaBo or holoX(arguably the 2 most group-like gens in hololive) or holoID(9 members, love live, you get the picture) i wonder what the policies that a-chan mentioned are. doesn't make me less excited about their debuts tho, shunkan heartbeat is a banger
And that is why you don't work at Hololive. 😂 All the girls you mentioned have already established themselves as individual streamers. Why would you sacrifice their career and suddenly confine them into v-singing? That was Azki and Irys' original roles and look at them now. The solo vsinging didn't work but a group may. And NePoLaBo and HoloX as idol groups?? You must be kidding 😅. Have you actually seen the things these girls have done? And you'd have to give these girls a total redesign if you want to re-introduce them as an idol group. Imagine the magnitude of the backlash from fans if you did that.
@@RejectHumanityReturn2Monke what? i meant that it seems pointless because the only thing we as fans are left to speculate about is them acting as an v-singer group. azki, suisei, watame and calli, while all really entertaining streamers, also have some of the biggest discography in all of hololive.(discography referring to the amount of original songs they have) if they're allowed to stream normally and collab with their senpai, what exactly is the merit of them being in a completely different branch. essentially what happened to suisei, azki and irys. and if they're meant to hold activities together as a group, why is it necessary for them to do so in a different branch? nepolabo, holoX and frankly every gen in all 3 branches are able to do so well. i never said anything about redebuting them as idol groups, the groups of comedian could act as one easily without any input from cover. just look at holofes. my original point was that it seems weird to separate them into a whole new branch(implying more gens down the line) if (from what we know) they're able to basically stream as usual(no collab restrictions and such) if dev_is is meant to be a branch of v-singers, why not just name it holo-n? (after their joint music label with UMG JP) is this just INNK v2? or is it something else..? stop twisting my words to mean something else, i was merely drawing comparisons.
I have mentioned this in other forum, but to speculate, what makes ReGloss different than other estabilished Hololive talents is their work ethics and possible endeavours, where as musical talents such as Calli, Watame, AZKi, etc. Mostly do their stuff solo and got music label deals individually, (hopefully) ReGloss would operate more as a unit, a unit getting music label deal is unheard of in hololive so I think this is their way to attempt that path
@@Yoofilos thats what i thought originally too but it just seems weird that they wont just integrate it directly to holoJP or even a standalone group under holopro, but as a completely new branch(implying more gens down the line) forgot to add, especially now with the existence of holo-n and blue journey, it makes the idea of a new branch dedicated for a v-singer group seems unecessary
@@tptcx not unnecessary, blue journey is a temporary project, it will eventually ends, and the existence of holo-n doesn't invalidate regloss either, music labels will and do collaborate from time to time. One thing I was hoping to make Dev_is/regloss different to the estabilished branch is they'd debut with 3d models right from the start (like gen 0 used to be) so they could be incorporated in MVs, Dance Videos, etc. immediately because you know we haven't seen their key visual illustration yet which is odd, but upon checking their bios it seems that they have a live2d rigger the same ones that are shared with other holomembers, well who knows exactly we just need to watch them doing their intended work for a while to give them a fair view/judgement.
Maybe like this: in Hololive other branch, they are their own brand. They do their own project, they have more ability to choose things, theyre paid individually, etc. They are like soloist who came together to make a group. But in DEV-IS, the opposite, just like idol group/girlband first then after that each have their own solo debut. Maybe they have something like 7 years contract where they divided all income and expenses equally, more DANCE and vocal train, live together in one place, going to event/program as one, etc.
@@johnandrew4856 do you know that the talent themself that bear all the cost (or at least partially) for their equipment, original song, cover, merch etc? Just wonder how long it will last.

super helpful!!!
Thank you so much for the clipping!
Oh device! So they're gonna be the device for resurrecting YAGOO's idol dream? xD
" a family tree"
hololive production (the grandparent): oh ive got a bad back
Yagoo: "I will have real idols if it's the last thing I do!"
ReGLOSS: *more depraved comedians
So ReGLOSS is under DEV_IS. Can't wait for their sister unit to make debut as ReTURN, ReMAKE, ReMASTER, ReSTART, ReQUEST, ReUNION, and so on.
Thanks, I needed this explaination
even if project failed they can just transfer them to hololive just like azki and suisei.... because hololive became big they want to show us something diffrent than what they been show us till now.
I love that A-chan says "nahone" ^_^
Maybe they will also be a bit more isolated from the rest and focus more on music production and live stuff. Reason being, that with en, jp and id basically collabing and interacting all over the place it's gotten terribly difficult to plan and manage. But it's that brand of fun and shenanigans that we love, so we'll see what happens and how it works out
and she put ReGLOSS in the Bottom Left as suggession to how the group will be
Wake up babe, new Hololive genus just dropped.
Edit: see reply for correction.
Original incorrect comment:
It's no longer a joint vecture with another company like INNK was between cover and upd8
@@SkyArrow1712It was never a joint venture between upd8 and Cover.
It was always a Cover only owned project that started and ended that way.
YT won't let me put them here but you can easily find links to japanese articles of INNK's creation explaining that.
People in the west get confused because AZKi was affiliated to upd8 before joining INNK.
@@jolynefanacount4326 Yes, you're right - my bad.
well one thing we know
hololive/cover always learn from their failure in the past especially when they still young company
for example, before there was Mel's stalker and that was her own manager => learn from that now manager is female and always get shuffled with time period
i bet cover/hololive already learn about their failure from INNK so they brave enough to stabilize new group
maybe YAGOO still believe about his "IDOL GROUP" dream
Ok, so that's why they've felt different in design. That said, not sure I'm seeing the distinction much at this point in time?
Now im kinda wondering in the near future, will they recruit members adept in competitive gaming solely as a new Holizontal branch.
for that, we have VSPo. Would be so nice to have a dedicated gaming branch that would join tournaments because HoloGamers is not what the name seems to imply.
Would be really neat if they rolled out a minor league Valorant or LOL e-sports team. NA has openings for both...
As of right now they have said Holizontal will not be getting new people/gens and just be using people from Holopro when they do sponsored stuff.
@@ruweee4443 VSPO isn't quite it. I'm thinking more like actual esports where they employ rl players that are OK showing their faces in LAN events but stream with avatars and such. Like most of the CR guys.
@@JimmyBoombox yup. Totally on with that, but if Dev_is is an avenue to challenge new things and try novel stuff. What's to say that isn't a far fetch idea stemming from Holizontal
They would look like an idol group in a vtuber setting rather than being a comedian group :D
I think this is what sora chan wanted to be.
So it is basically Meteopolis by Riot Music - the Regloss talents are the band members like Suzuhara/Vesperbell etc
As I see it they are probably gonna do a lot of things together (like stream, make music, etc), and they're individual channels are for the rare individual stream as well as updates personally and maybe clips.
Yeah regloss might be aiming for idol/artist approach, seeing some of hololive members get major debut with label companies cover might consider opening a branch that's more focused on music label again hence the name regloss
They tell you that it's a different branch, that their strategy is different but they don't explain exactly what makes them different... I guess they'll tell you in the debut.
so like a lovelive unit? Muse, Aqours, and so on do their activities as a group so I am assuming its more akin to that.
I'm seeing this more in the vein of BanG Dream at this point, but yeah probably something like that.
So ReGLOSS is bottom left, gotcha.
A-Chan: I thought it would be easier for people to understand if I used this diagram
She did just hit us with "Look at this ...Graph."
Huh,
Well, let's see our amazing expectations for this new unit of Hololive.
I was also told that Uproar is a bit different than Holostars and not just a new gen...still waiting to see how exactly, lol.
I heard JKT 48 also has Vtuber now its Indonesia Branch of AKB 48
I hope DEV_IS can be a mix that emphasis to be a group activity
like, they debut as "idol group" which combine all region branch (mix jp, id, en), not doing game or talk stream but a lot of singing and concert as real idol group
a family tree where A chan is the grandma at the top of the tree, naruhodo nee~~~
I will read it as "Dev is" and you can't change that A-chan 🙂
With the varying backgrounds of the talents, I'm assuming it's like a small production house/studio creating varied multimedia contents? If so, that's fascinating from a business perspective.
They are probably under separate management who run independently without being controlled by Hololive that much.
They use Hololive name as the brand image, but the management is completely separated.
I won't that surprised if Dev_is it self is actually an external IP who is being managed under Hololive brand.
Interesting! So based on the success of ReGLOSS there could be another group that debuts under DEVIS in a few years.
It's probably actual idol stuff focused around 3D live dancing and singing more idol over whatever they are doing with the other girls
I'm still confused but I'm sure seeing what they get up to will make everything clearer
Hololive Dev_is type content probably more like related to V idol group like VALIS,hypnosis microphone, or UmaMusume one.
Back here again before Flow Glow debut.
Yagoo is the dreamer, they are the dream.
Im guessing that they want to do something more like a normal idol group, and if that kind of content doesn't end up working out, i guess they could always just end up merging them into the main group.
focusing more on idol shows content more than usual live streaming like other is my guess
Maybe it's like fuwamoco where activities are done in tandem, but for them they do them as a group. Also they'll probably use 3D more since their tech is getting better
No member since AZKi has debuted with a 3D model, and all of the girls already have known Live2D riggers in their profiles.
hmmm... the only thing close in my mind is "probably a branch that would kinda like VirtualReal Star"
"Holodevice" sounds like a Digimon type of shenanigans.
So far it is looking more like a rehab group than idols, but I like them like that.
So in other word in a far far future, they might be another unit emerge under that Dev_Is brand. if I interpret it in my high-medium quality brain
I like how Hiodoshi Aoi acted like a bot on Twitter greeting her senpai from boys and girls alike..She asserted height dominance on Astel LoL.. Talking about having huge guts on that cursed seaweed especially on the taboo thing (height).
Yagoo still haven't given up on his dream .. to have a true idol group.. good luck .
Didn't really explain anything we didn't already know. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what it's all about. Probably an idol group like everybody's theorizing.
"They will be growing together instead of separately".
So, mostly unit songs instead of individual original songs, maybe?
inb4 it is revealed that one of the DEV_IS past life is neuro-sama
First group challenge: dealing with YT sub purges.
So its basically a Idol Group that is debuting right in to a Idol Group than like Gen 0 and IRyS was.
DEV as a programmer the first thing that came to my mind is C++ or that they were the developers or creators.
"Okay, it's like this: Hololive is composed of Hololive. Which is composed of Hololive. Which includes Hololive. Which..."
So they're like the RND / Prototype branch..? Maybe they'll be the REAL idol group this time around.
Yagoo's final attempt at reviving the Idol dream.
You mean they working as a unit and not individual? Well that gonna be interesting.
Hololive making an Idol Group?
Where have I heard that before....
(for real though, I'm looking forward to seeing Yagoo's Dream come true)
Seeing people still confuse about "what's the differences, is it necessary to separate?" even after watching this video, then I think you can simply just wait for their debut and actual activities first before being judging to it, aside to it you can just watch them like any of the holomems normally without caring about the whole branch thing if you keep pressing on it doesn't make anything new. On a business look, it is a separate project need with different managing, resources, thing that you probably don't care as viewers 👍
We already telling this to people the moment they appeared on a countdown, they just insist they are gen 7. 😅
Yagoo's last hope of saving his dream. Let's see how this one goes.
didnt know there was a new generation
thats quick after advent
Still not sure if DEV-IS is focused with v-singers or new experimental content for new japanese audience. We got Advent EN now, it feels the new branch is rushed and not aiming for long livestreams.
i can't think of how hololive dev_is can be different.
if its cover attempting the v-singer concept again, azki, suisei, calli, watame have a big discography that imo would qualify them as a v-singer.
if its an idol group, what could possibly make them different than NePoLaBo or holoX(arguably the 2 most group-like gens in hololive) or holoID(9 members, love live, you get the picture)
i wonder what the policies that a-chan mentioned are.
doesn't make me less excited about their debuts tho, shunkan heartbeat is a banger
And that is why you don't work at Hololive. 😂
All the girls you mentioned have already established themselves as individual streamers.
@@RejectHumanityReturn2Monke what?
i meant that it seems pointless because the only thing we as fans are left to speculate about is them acting as an v-singer group.
azki, suisei, watame and calli, while all really entertaining streamers, also have some of the biggest discography in all of hololive.(discography referring to the amount of original songs they have)
if they're allowed to stream normally and collab with their senpai, what exactly is the merit of them being in a completely different branch. essentially what happened to suisei, azki and irys.
and if they're meant to hold activities together as a group, why is it necessary for them to do so in a different branch? nepolabo, holoX and frankly every gen in all 3 branches are able to do so well.
i never said anything about redebuting them as idol groups, the groups of comedian could act as one easily without any input from cover. just look at holofes.
my original point was that it seems weird to separate them into a whole new branch(implying more gens down the line) if (from what we know) they're able to basically stream as usual(no collab restrictions and such)
if dev_is is meant to be a branch of v-singers, why not just name it holo-n?
@@Yoofilos thats what i thought originally too but it just seems weird that they wont just integrate it directly to holoJP or even a standalone group under holopro, but as a completely new branch(implying more gens down the line)
forgot to add, especially now with the existence of holo-n and blue journey, it makes the idea of a new branch dedicated for a v-singer group seems unecessary
So dev is is gonna be a actaul idol group on Korea? Amazing. Holo KO 1 leak
It is practically the same as with the other generations, I do not see much difference
@@johnandrew4856 do you know that the talent themself that bear all the cost (or at least partially) for their equipment, original song, cover, merch etc? And because of that, they too got more portion of the profit. And I imagine that DEV_IS group(s?) activities (song, concert, living, etc) will be covered by DEV_IS (the company), and then the profit will be divided equally to the members AFTER the company recoup their investment (like their living rent, diet, vocal, dance training etc)
@@johnandrew4856 I think it's more like a girl group. Their member can still release solo projects but they mainly will be focus on group. So the albums also will with ReGLOSS rather than individual albums. Hololive main branches is kinda opposite, where they debut with gen but in the end individually the members will be doing their own projects and also if they want to launch album, it their individual albums ( I think there's only original song for gen but there's never an album with a gen or unit right?)

The final attempt to revive Yagoo's dream.
Yup they need to be separated, conventional vtubers have very strong personal identity, that's why many idol group that formed from individual vtubers don't do well, an idol group needs to put the group first they have to be somewhat uniformed , has more group activities , and now normal backgrounds
