I bought this nail gun as we were planning to renew all the fencing in our back garden. As this involved 19 double slatted fence panels, 10 of which needed to be cut down in size, we knew there would be a need for a great ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHQsUrwNr5GQrnx9V4xDdUr56qxwuiBHt deal of re-stapling the wooden slats to the wooden framework. Each alteration required the re-stapling of 62 wooden slats with double staples. Prior to starting the work we ordered sufficient additional staples as per the instructions with the gun.The gun performed fantastically throughout the entire project with no jams of misfires. The adjustable power was excellent allowing the staples to be fired into the 8mm slats to the correct depth. For the price paid this was a bargain and it proved itself to be so reliable and versatile making an arduous task much quicker and professional. I cannot recommend this product highly enough and it will be used on many other projects in the future.
the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.
I resprayed an entire van using the exact same gun. I now have the 1.3 version too they are amazing guns and capable of punching well above their weight. If you search YT for the Gunman, he tests these guns from the first R150 version right through to the current R160Q Compact (same gun) series 1.2, 2.3 & 1.4 fluid tips. You can run them from smaller compressors than yours!
Always a good experience and learned something new too. HVLP method also delivers a much softer spray which reduces material waste - but there is a catch and that is that most guns of this type required a FAD of at least 6.5 to operate. To get that requires a CFM that's 50% higher on the compressor. Mostly this means 100 Litre dual motor with dual cylinders e.g. more expensive to buy (but there are a few exceptions). The benefit is using less paint e.g. the "Running" cost is reduced, but there is probably is no such thing as zero oversprays so some kind of spray booth would be a good idea. Most reviews of "used" equipment show it to be coated in a fine mist of paint. There is clearly a before and after getting a spray booth effect. Perhaps with an extractor fan in the outside shed, you could relax the 50cm rule and put the compressor where your old one was installed (without issues)? Would putting a regulator on the compressor be a good option e.g. to regulate the pressure for each device connected - that's how mine was supplied. Of course, regulating the pressure in the outside shed wouldn't work very well. FWIW I found a spray booth on Amazon that doesn't have a floor. At first, I thought this was a limitation, but the more I think about it, it fits in with a workshop e.g. you can lower it over two horses and a door, etc. and a dustsheet is easy to come by too. Simon

I wouldn't worry to much about the compressor being where you have it as air can still circulate around it ok. I think the dimensions they give are to cover their arse if it was to totally enclosed.
Had the outside of my house painted by a guy with an Airless Sprayer. Painted my shrubbery and my car with over spray. He said, No charge for that. I spray lacquer in my shop and get plenty of over spray. You did well. I have had about a half a dozen compressors over the years. Your mistake was you read the instructions. Shove it back in that corner and forget about it.
CAREFUL: Some space around the compressor is needed to avoid overheatng the motor and the compressor head too. But there is another thing I suggest you to check for: Many electrical motors are brushed, so they create a lot of sparking, which produces OZONE... And Ozone is a harmful gas that is both damaging and irritant. Ozone has a strong effect on elastomers (rubber and flexible plastics), that makes them cracked and brittle, so that operating the compressor in a too confined space will result in the compressor aspirating Ozone-ladden air, which will damage the rubber hoses, or any tyre or article it contacts. In my DeWalt 15 gallon tank oil-free compressor, the electric motor cooling fan was blowing ozone contaminated air across the housing, and the inlet filter was aspirating some of that same air into the compressor and tank. I modified the housing to seal the slot around the filter and compressor housing, and extended the filter piping away from the housing with a pipe nipple, and now the compressed air no longer smells of ozone anymore!
Saw an American guy on YT a few years back had a fold down spray booth from cardboard (about 6 feet cubed) with a small computer fan at the back. Perfect for the sort of projects you have in mind.
Brilliant Matt. The ANi R160 spray gun. Never heard of this low air volume pressure type but as soon as you pulled that trigger I was IMPRESSED. I could tell instantly by the fan and coverage straight away. As for tips; Don't skimp on washing your equipment it will come back and bite you half way through a job. This one is a must if funds allow; Use separate guns (hoses, pots etc.) for clear coat and pigmented finishes because no matter how well you clean your equipment the unwanted coloured spot will appear resulting in an additional unwanted respray lol. You have a good spraying technique. Tony.
Hi! I bought the same air compressor and i can't find anywhere the hose fixing conection type! Could you please tell me what is the hose fixing? Thanks you
@@RagnBoneBrown you can work it out from the details of the compressor you have using the formula from an engineering site such as fluidairedynamics.com which has a CFM calculator, but you need more info to work out FAD. There's many other engineering sites dealing with the subject.

I'm sure you know this, but water accumulates in the compressor from the air and it needs to be removed regularly. There's a channel called "Build it with Rob" where he mostly shows him doing attic renovations with a product called "ecoTruss". However, in a recent car mechanics video, he built an insulated box for his compressor that massively cut down the noise. Don't know if that'd be worth trying if you wanted it any quiter?
Hi Keith, don't underestimate yourself. Useful tips and information as usual. Have you considered something like a "pop-up" gazebo with sides for spraying outside? It will, protect the spray pattern from any wind and keep the finish uniform, keep wayward debris (leaves, dust, insects, etc) out, contain overspray, and may even allow you to work if it's raining. Just a thought. Could even double as additional workshop space in inclement weather.
Word of warning on over spray make sure your car isn't parked down wind. I know from experience as it was in the summer the drift went all over the car and baked on hard then had to spend ages getting off my windscreen 😕. Good Video as ever. Not 100% sure that is an original door as the shot of the bottom it looked like it was put together with dowels and for that age I'd expect mortise and tenon joints. 👍
hi there, so you rate the overall finish better than a mo hair 5mm nap roller? I am 50/50 to go this way it was the mess one creates doing it indoors which i will have no choice
Hi Keith Love your you tube channel, know your a busy man, but could you let me know the model of spray gun you use, as I’m about to purchase one and trust your advise. Many thanks Phil
I sprayed my van in cellulose with an 8 litre compressor lol , trust me , it did the job , after a mop and polish , it looked great , good video , cheers .
That Keith is going to make a great reference video for anyone wanting a compressor or paint gun or both... btw it seems like you got some overspray on your hair matey.... 😂😂 hope the video does well . cheers Paul
I work in coffin factory so now bosses want me to start learning to paint.. shiiii, idk if it would be easy or not but for sure it will damage my lungs even with mask.....
Hi Keith, watched this vid a couple of times. A lot of manufactures/spray vids recommend a > 1.8 nozzle for primer. Do you think the midi spray gun (like this) with a 1.4 tip is somehow limited? NB biggest surface i would like to spray is a door as well.
We are having a snowstorm here in Maryland at the moment and I’m binge watching your videos I love them you are the only channel I have ever considered to become a patron so I just might do it I really like your approach and delivery you are just like one of us ... keep up the good work !
Nicely done Keith 😁. So true.. I think my whole street could fit in AW's workshop. Her CNC bed is bigger than my workshop... but you have got to love her enthusiasm. Thanks for the video Keith 😁👍
I've searched a little and rather try Airless after comparing different methods. FengKe sells Graco 395 copy for 520$ with automatic pressure regulator and I've seen it. It's as good as original Graco when you put quality Wagner or Graco spraying nozzle. It's real airless, not some parkside or scheppach useless cheap crap. I mean you can even paint with it whole houses in and out very fast, instead of some small elements very slowly. London Craftsman has planty of videos about Airless.
@13:02, did you... put on lipstick? No judgment and I don't want to make you self-conscious, I was just almost through the video and then was suddenly distracted by the change Also, great video, thank you
Man I’m a few days in to my new job in a paint department painting machines. Being in the garage we have when they’re painting is crazy. It looks like there’s a bunch of people smoking in there 😂 can’t wait to get my hands on that spray gun, I’m in the sanding phase hahah.
You didn't mention, and i don't think you used, an in line air dryer. I'm wondering if this might not actually be needed if you're using water based products, but i assumed i'd need one. Maybe one to ask your uncle about!
How's the compressor after a year ? I was thinking about getting the same model., And the same spray gun.

I live in a flat and i was looking at ABAC for something silent, but it's almost impossible to find good info...but the noise in the video seems like it would definitely bother my neighbours.
I need to see,,,how to conect my spray gun to the compressor,,? Please tell me how,,,or its much more better to creat a short video for that tips,,,if u can, thank you,,👍🙂
I wonder what is the minimum volume of compressor receiver to paint a door. I will not use it regularly just one - two doors ever :) And for the rest of the time I will use it with nailer, so I thought very compact 10l unit will be enough for me. But when I saw that you replaced even 24l with 50l, this scares me :) Suppose, I'll just rent bigger compressor for that once a life time door painting celebration :)))
This will probably depend on whether you need it to be portable, but if the compressor is noisy and needs space around it, could you put it in the loft?
I'm looking for a set up that will be able to spray a thick epoxy boat paint. What SCFM/CFM would you recommend? Also, do you have any experience with Pressure Pots?
Hi, I am look at buying the ABAC Montecarlo OS20P. Is it possible to time how long it takes to fill the tank from empty, so I can work out what the CFM is.
Has anyone else noticed the price of paint lately ? I've been told by an industry insider that most of the paint firms in the UK have been bought out by a very large American company, as a result they have forced the prices up on all brands they own. This is not the first time this has happened but its happening more often with the public not knowing at all. Another one I have found out about is the cost of vets bills. I know I'm off topic but I might as well moan on, 6 of the largest vet surgery companies are owned by a hedge fund who have forced the cost of vets bills through the roof !! Same thing has happened to car batteries but I'll draw a line there !!
I bought Chalk Paint can a few weeks a go. To be honest I always believe that to use any can is wasting material, cause it goes everywhere and also where it should go. I bought it becuase, I forgot a home recepy I had to make my own chalk paint😟😟😟 Sadly I confirmed what you said, is just paying some money for not much product. Now, in your case, the finish is the difference, but to clean that equipment take time toó, so I still belive brush, is much better. You shaking the can, really you are so funny, but is true, it felt kind of silly shaking a can, know exactly what you mean. Thank you for your honesty Keith🌟🌟🌟🌟
Very informative , to the point i actually bought the same compressor and spray gun off the back of this review! a quick question keith (or anyone in the know) what hose do you use or recommend ? Thanks.
You seem to be a very professional at what you do but there is no way I would attempt spraying with that thing! Nothing less than 100ltr but really a 150 would be better for what you are doing! That thing is gonna work its nuts off!
Iiiinteresting! Im very curious as to how much work it is to set this up and clean up afterwards though. Surely there is a sweet spot where its not worth using this over a spray can? Ive also seen people mention that theres quite a bit of wasted paint that gets cleaned out of the gun and the canister after each use, that may be a factor too? Ive been contemplating doing exactly what you did (upgrading compressor and getting spray guns for that) or if I should look into those stand-alone sprayers that seem a bit easier to move around outside. I cant have a dedicated area for it though, so one of those pop-up spray tents could be nice both for overspray and drying without half a wasp nest and the neighbours cat getting to the wet paint.
Hi Keith, if you can make a trip to Teesside after the covid 19 I have a compressor about three times the size of the one you have that you are more than welcome to. I did get this beast from a garage that closed down about three years ago and I did intend to set it up and use it. Since then the codiv19 started and my health and age (70) makes it less and less likely that I could stand long enough to put another length of lead on to get it started, it only came with a one meter cable and I put on a plug to make sure it worked and that is as far as I got. Anyway, if you want it just come and get it
Could you tell me More about the paints you used? Some paints won't get through a gun so would be nice to know what you used, and what you mixed it with etc to thin? Was it just water?
i have a qtech stage 5 hvlp its awesome i have sprayed loads of items like 5 doors banister spindles ... im looking at spraying kitchen units and cabinets ect ... you use lot less paint than useing a brush and roller
I want to get away from spray cans also so my question is from me another DIYr. You didn’t use any air dryers between your compressor and your gun. Did your uncle say that would be ok? Seems like it worked for you without any but others said to put one in between? What do you think? Nice work! Hope all went as well as you showed it going in the video.

It will, protect the spray pattern from any wind and keep the finish uniform, keep wayward debris (leaves, dust, insects, etc) out, contain overspray, and may even allow you to work if it's raining. Just a thought. Could even double as additional workshop space in inclement weather.
Yeah we don't really have anywhere to put one unfortunately
Word of warning on over spray make sure your car isn't parked down wind. I know from experience as it was in the summer the drift went all over the car and baked on hard then had to spend ages getting off my windscreen 😕.
Good Video as ever. Not 100% sure that is an original door as the shot of the bottom it looked like it was put together with dowels and for that age I'd expect mortise and tenon joints. 👍
hi there, so you rate the overall finish better than a mo hair 5mm nap roller? I am 50/50 to go this way it was the mess one creates doing it indoors which i will have no choice
Noob question, will any water based emulsion paint work, once thinned appropriately with water, or do you need a specific brand/type of paint?
Hi Keith
Love your you tube channel, know your a busy man, but could you let me know the model of spray gun you use, as I’m about to purchase one and trust your advise.
Many thanks
Phil
I’m just looking for a silent DIY setup for repainting car panels & motorbike wheels and such. Anyone recommend a good compressor with a gun?
Get a cheap angler's wind shelter as a paint tent to reduce drift
Thanks for the video 👌 if you are using regular paint do you have to thin it down or anything to go through the gun?
Keith, 85dB LWA is a sound poWer level which is the level at source. Noise levels expressed as Lp are a sound Pressure level at a given distance.
Hi Keith enjoyed you video. When spraying in your workshop,i would recommend getting a portable paint extractor one of these does help with overspray
😂😂 hope the video does well . cheers Paul
🤣🤣🤣
Cheers Paul
😂✅✅✅
I work in coffin factory so now bosses want me to start learning to paint.. shiiii, idk if it would be easy or not but for sure it will damage my lungs even with mask.....
I've heard horror stories of people spraying high up outside and cars getting covered two miles away, be careful
@Steve Smith I don't bother with it myself, too many variables and too much faf. 18inch roller will do a large space just as quick without the risks.
Are phone microphones even calibrated to give accurate dBA levels anyway?
The dual motor would-be been a better choice silet compressor I have 2 of them.and it's best for.painting
No judgment and I don't want to make you self-conscious, I was just almost through the video and then was suddenly distracted by the change
Also, great video, thank you
Man I’m a few days in to my new job in a paint department painting machines. Being in the garage we have when they’re painting is crazy. It looks like there’s a bunch of people smoking in there 😂 can’t wait to get my hands on that spray gun, I’m in the sanding phase hahah.
Can you paint room walls with this?
You didn't mention, and i don't think you used, an in line air dryer. I'm wondering if this might not actually be needed if you're using water based products, but i assumed i'd need one. Maybe one to ask your uncle about!
3 years on, how do you feel about your purchase? Still going strong? Have you hit upon any limitations?
How's the compressor after a year ? I was thinking about getting the same model., And the same spray gun.
I live in a flat and i was looking at ABAC for something silent, but it's almost impossible to find good info...but the noise in the video seems like it would definitely bother my neighbours.
I need to see,,,how to conect my spray gun to the compressor,,? Please tell me how,,,or its much more better to creat a short video for that tips,,,if u can, thank you,,👍🙂

Interesting mate. Never sprayed anything using a spay gun and compressed air. Unlikely to either. But interesting nonetheless.
I am beginner which one exactly I need buy?? Don't care price
This will probably depend on whether you need it to be portable, but if the compressor is noisy and needs space around it, could you put it in the loft?
The condensate needs to be drained regularly so it would be a bit of a pain. Good idea though
I guess spraying leaves a nice level finish, well better than I could with a brush anyway 😁 great video Keith
Great analysis as always. Happy you are happy with your choice.
You shaking the can was hilarious. Keep up the great content. :-)
How would oil base go with gun and compressor you chose
I'm looking for a set up that will be able to spray a thick epoxy boat paint. What SCFM/CFM would you recommend? Also, do you have any experience with Pressure Pots?
Always great to see the hat! ;-)
Also, 12:39 - ROFL! Cheeky.
haha, it wasn't meant to look dirty, but turns out my "boredom" face looks a lot like something else
Hi,
I am look at buying the ABAC Montecarlo OS20P.
Is it possible to time how long it takes to fill the tank from empty, so I can work out what the CFM is.
shou;ld have brought the hyundia only 60 db
Hey friend, may I ask why on the first picture seems that the abac compressor 1,5HP has, but on the one you purchased is 2HP ? Thanks in advance
I bought it becuase, I forgot a home recepy I had to make my own chalk paint😟😟😟
Sadly I confirmed what you said, is just paying some money for not much product.
199k subscribers, I subbed to see if mine was the sub that flipped the dial to 200k
It wasn't, but I regret nothing
Thank you!
Did you lock yourself in that room ??
Its usually not good when something oozes
Why do you need free space around the compressor?
When you showed the snow picture for the overspray I was like WTF lol
I want to get away from spray cans also so my question is from me another DIYr. You didn’t use any air dryers between your compressor and your gun. Did your uncle say that would be ok? Seems like it worked for you without any but others said to put one in between? What do you think?
Nice work! Hope all went as well as you showed it going in the video.
