CHANNEL UPDATE! Gonna be taking a little bit of a break from video creation since this video took a lot outta me, also RUclips being real annoying with their partner program. All that is barrelling me towards burnout, so yeah, taking a little break... BUT I don't want to just leave the channel in limbo, so for this month, I'm going to be casually streaming (well hopefully anyways). I plan on streaming crappy NFT games that I don't plan on making videos of, games that I'm interested in like Hi-Fi Rush, or honestly just chatting with you guys. So if you're interested, drop by and say hello. Also feel free to ask questions, I'll be more than happy to answer (unless it's like super personal... you ain't knowing my sizes, dawg) Anyways, thanks for watching the video and hope to see you in the stream!
@AeonDerpYT actually it's not the same atari from the 80s or atari which was Warner bros owning the console side of atari. But infograms who are the current owner of the atari.
I´m here for the first time but lemme tell you this brother, take your time. Burnout ain´t no joke, I ignored it and since then I had to constantly deal with depressive episodes every few months. That stuff sticks to you like tar.
7:58 As someone who did play the piece of garbage that is NNK Cross Worlds, the reason why you didn't find much info on its NFT aspect is that it's not an NFT game. It does have crypto trash built-in (as an in-game currency that lost all of its value due to bot farming) but technically no NFTs. Worst part is, the original Korean version of the game does not have such things; they were implemented for the global version. Who knows whose decision it was to punish non-Korean players in such a horrible way... Also, don't bother trying out the game, save yourself
Haha Josh is awesome, he did a"Worst MMO" ep on Tera and then it died shortly after. It was an absolutely amazing coincidence. Obviously it wasn't because of him, but it's hilarious that it went down after that ep.
Note that Atari has approximately 0% to do with the historic American company. It's basically the reheated corpse of the American branch of a French company (Infogrames) that brought out what's left of Atari's software division. So it's unsurprising that they were involved in NFT's, and Kickstarter scams and other lazy cash grabs.
@@eiriseven im STILL mad about how badly they flubbed Gundam evolution. They make a game that plays really good but managed and monetized it so horribly it died
imagine if they just let you play an AR version of pac-man in your neighborhood or some shit for the anniversary. I think google maps did something like that once. Would've been so much better lol.
ah minor correction 18:09 Atari actually went out of business altogether after the Big Video Game Crash. The current Atari is another company altogether that bought the name and rights to their back catalog
I did read a little bit about that during research and how "Atari" is just a brand name now with it being essentially passed around tons of companies. It was interesting to find out about that, had no idea before.
Im gonna be honest with how many south korean mobile game developers were in this video im suprised devsisters never showed up. Thankful, but still suprised
lol, i've played tree of savior, the story can be played solo till about the 15th chapter, were enemies are too strong and the game recommends playing in a party. it was a good game, spent about $300 in microtransactions for gear and consumables before i stopped playing.
You should know that Bandai Namco is pretty much the EA and Disney of Japan, they are as bad as both combined and they also handle Toys They are Greedy AF and do not give a flying Heck if they ruin a franchise Fromsoft also own the rights to Souls and Armord core in Japan Bamco just handles the overseas releases besides Sekiro for some reason
Considering the molasses speed of NFT development (and how often they quietly stall out behind the scenes), I wonder how many of these only endure to any extent because of iron clad contracts with web3 partners from 2021 or 2022
Neowiz are the publishers of one of my favorite rougelites of all time, Skul the Hero Slayer (though the devs, SouthPAW Games, are seperate i think), so seeing them here fucking hurts.
If you mean why I singled it out? Mainly because it was such an old series and it was an odd choice. If you mean why THEY made NFTs out of it, literally no clue haha.
Fair, I just took a pic I found on a reddit post with all of their games and was like "this'll do". Although Bloodborne being owned by sony is so annoying. Give me a PC port or hell a 60fps ps5 port already damnit. Sekiro being owned by Activision, I didn't know... Thanks for the info.
I know it's only one among a pile of sludge, but atari hasn't been atari in decades. It's just been a trademark and ip that's been bought and sold more times than this digital sludge tries to be. Guess it's fitting that they're in this shit too
Seeing all this big names here is sad , but still cant believe how stupid they are...... overpriced microtransactions are enough already lol . Blue Archive mentioned peak , gachas tend to have banger osts but lore can also go hard which is really imporant , cause gacha games are like visual novel first then everything else. i genuinely do not understand korean men’s obsession with nfts and crypto,, i went to a korean bookstore a few months ago and there were at least 5 books on crypto and bitcoin,,, like why?
See, I'm gonna play devil's advocate here: NFT's have the potential to be quite amazing. The problem is that every company is only interested in misguiding customers to profit off of them. The biggest crux is that despite all these claims of decentralized ownership, NFT's in games are never compatible with other games, and that's a conscious choice. It also means that much of the supposed value of the NFT relies on the continued existence of its original marketplace, and the goodwill of the creators, because that's what they were made for. What annoys me the most is how shameless the companies are with their lies about community and ownership when pushing their NFT's. They make it seem like an investment, but it's literally just a terrible souvenir shop.
i genuinely do not understand what could be amazing about buying and trading art-shaped tokens, the rights of which you do not even own. it seems inferior to actually buying and trading art in every way
@@Bongo-sb1gs That's the thing. At its core, NFT's are basically just ownership certificates, they're not tied to art pieces. They could be used in games to transfer certain accolades, skins, or items between games that take place in the same universe or that hold a collaboration, without requiring an extensive save transfer tool. It would entice players of one game to play the other, and reward players of both. Alternatively, those items could be sold off if the player no longer wants to play the game. They could also be used to verify ownership of a digital game across multiple storefronts, and make it possible to resell those games. But publishers are immediately laser-focused on making the most amount of money with the least amount of effort, so they gate off their NFT's in their own isolated economies, where they rot away with no purpose other than enriching the terrible providers.
@KazeMemaryu i really think there has to be a better way to transfer ingame items between games without connecting them to the blockchain. and item selling for real money always leads to capitalist nightmare hell. i think turning playing games into a way to make money will completely suck the fun out of the games
@@Bongo-sb1gs Absolutely, play-2-earn is one of the reddest flags a dev can put on their game. As SEGA observed, turning your game into a job is the opposite of fun, so why bother?
@@KazeMemaryu You could do all that without involving NFTs, though. The only unique use case here involves two different game companies cooperating and putting in hours of paid work to honor a purchase they didn't get any money from.
excellent research 👌 but to be fair NFTs dont make a game bad. However, I agree that NFTs have become a tool for greedy developers to make money off of get-rich-quick seekers and speculative players who are more focused on making money than enjoying the game. and dont get me started on the game tokens....
NFT makes games bad, because devs always change the game balance and economic to make NFT almost necessary for comfort game experience. Even if some game will use NFT only for cosmetic that still will mean that all f2p skins will look very boring and ugly.
@AraikSarkisyan thats why i said greedy developers! everyone heard of NFTs and thought its something that must be sold. however NFTs could be the regular items we have in every game with just the permission for players to sell or trade

@zbyszggo4626 my argument is not that nfts are some magical thing that will enhance gameplay or game economy. its just a technology that gives you more choice if the opportunity arises. if tomorrow fornite announces that all the skins you have bought until now were actually nfts, would it make a difference? No. people are hating on the wrong thing, they are hating the technology, its like hating email because some nigerian prince scammed you.
