@@onlymyself7225 Its important to ask who Jesus was speaking to in Mark 16. Who is in the audience? The gospel of the grace of God had not been revealed at this point. Remember Paul was not saved until Acts 9 and the Lord reveals the revelation of the mystery that had been hidden since before the world began. This information was not known in Mark 16 and repentance and baptism in water was required for the nation of Isreal. Salvation was always offered to the gentiles but only through Isreal. When Isreal rejected the risen Messiah in Acts 8 with the stoning of Stephen the Lord saves Paul by grace and revels the mystery to him how gentiles can ow be saved by grace alone through the finished work of Christ alone. Paul even says that Christ did not send him to baptise but to preach the gospel which clearly shows us that baptism is separated from the gospel of grace. Its important to get up to date with the gospel of salvation that is now offered to all through believing and trusting what Christ did for us by the cross and not fall back to a works based gospel where baptism is required. If you save we must be baptised according to Mark 16 then we are back under law keeping, selling all you own, hating your own father and mother and forgiving others to be forgiven. Paul says "last of all Christ appeared to me". I'll stay with the last words that Jesus spoke because that's the updated information we need to trust and belive today. That's why understanding that God has given different information at different times is so important. God told Noah to build a boat. Are you building a boat today and if not why not? We are blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ today. This was not known in Mark 16. Jesus never told the 12 about the revelation of the mystery...he gave that to Paul. The 12 didn't even understand the cross as it was hidden from them and even after the resurrection they still didn't belive until Jesus appeared to them. Draw out your own timeline. Draw the cross in the centre and ask what was said and when. Plot Acts 9 and you will see that information given to Paul could not have been known before the cross because it was still hidden and even in Acts 2 and 3 with what Peter preached. Peter is still offering salvation through repentance and baptism. Acts 13 Paul is offering forgiveness of sins through Jesus and justification without the law, something a Jew would never have offered. It's now all by grace. Baptism is no longer required for salvation because Jesus did it all by the cross. We are a new creation members of the body of Christ and blessed with every spiritual blessing all by grace and not of works. Baptism is a work you do...grace is a work that Jesus did so we dont do anything. He has done it all hense the finished work of Christ saves us today not baptism.
