The novel was written and the movie made by a Singapore citizen who later became an American citizen. The movie was focussed, centred on Singapore. The mixture of pristinely preserved colonial architecture from the past with ultra-modern cutting-edge buildings of the future, the life on the streets, and the vibrancy of the Hawker Markets, all make its signature. Some of the best scenes were shot in Malaysia but all the movie talks about is Singapore. Michelle and Henry, who are you trying to kid?? Maybe it was mentioned in the rolling credits at the end only.

Well its next door, the state of Singapore is a fairly recent development. Malaysian influence on Singapore design, culture and food is very important and influential, as well Chinese and European. Singapore is a melting pot taking the best of each culture and blending it :)
OMG yass when I saw Henry and Dato' Sri Michelle who are Malaysians I was like why they didn't make the storyline that Nick is from Malaysia but yeah since it is based on the novel they probably followed the novel but then knowing that they filmed in Malaysia kinda makes me proud and really hope that people who watched the movie know that those beautiful places in the movie is Malaysia not Singapore.
I tell you, I'm in love with awkwafina. She is beautiful, sexy and down to earth. The whole cast of " Crazy Rich Asians " is fantastic. Keep going guys. It is a fun movie to watch, over and over again.

We lived in Jahor for 3 months which is on the Malaysian border but only 30 minutes from Singapore. The prices of everything are crazy different; a lot of people would live in jahor but work in Singapore cause they get paid a lot more then live comfortably in Jahor. Worst part was we are American so we had to go through immigration every time we visited Singapore; took forever.
@Duck Knight batu caves close at 5 ..so I guess they wont be going there at closing hour...anyway I was there for 9 hours(open hour) a day for 2 months..make sense now?
Many of the locations were filmed in Malaysia. The Young's mansion was actually Carcossa Seri Negara. The scenes were digitally superimposed with Singapore's skyline etc.

The scene at 1:47 is not in the movie, and it wasn’t included in the deleted scenes feature.
Constance Wu is so in love with Henry, every interview she spills out her thought . He is married Constance and even if he wasn’t I think he will choose Gemma.
Ms. Michelle Yeoh is excellent.
Malaysia in disguise... mixed feeling. Sad and proud at the same time..
Can i just have awkwafina in my life !!!! I love herrrrrr
Awkwafina funny asusual 😂
Some of the best scenes were shot in Malaysia but all the movie talks about is Singapore. Michelle and Henry, who are you trying to kid?? Maybe it was mentioned in the rolling credits at the end only.
The novel was written and the movie made by a Singapore citizen who later became an American citizen. The movie was focussed, centred on Singapore. It is about Singapore, not Malaysia. 7 out of 10 of the significant movie locations are in Singapore. The most prominent ones Marina Bay Downtown, Changi Airport, Marina Bay Sands, Gardens By The Bay, Merlion Park and Sentosa Island are Singapore icons. They are instantly recognizable and known like all over the world. Malaysia's location are more like plain backdrops that almost nobody remembers Singapore is the main focus, the star. Malaysia is just an unknown stand in, body double. Who do you think is most memorable Hahahahaha
See what Director John Chu said. "It’s no coincidence that we chose Singapore as a centre of this story. It is a city of the future. It is a glimpse into what the whole world will be. High-tech buildings, low-tech buildings, history, culture - I hope that by getting a glimpse of this place, and as a character in our movie, you get a glimpse of what the world can be like."
"Showcasing Singapore at it’s most luxurious was central to the story. The texture of our movie, its escapism, comes from the fact that we really shot in these places. Everywhere we pointed the camera we found something special. It’s a unique blend of cultures.”
And see what Henry Golding, the main actor, said of Singapore as the main movie location “That’s the beauty of this movie, it’s so realistic in the sense that we’re on location in some of the craziest locations in Singapore. And now showing them to a global audience, people have literally been coming up to me saying, ‘I’m buying a ticket (to Singapore). I have to go!’ It looked beautiful. We had to film on location, no question about that".
See what movie producer Brad Simpson said "“Shooting in Singapore itself was non-negotiable. The movie is a love letter to the food, culture and beauty of this area. The mixture of pristinely preserved colonial architecture from the past with ultra-modern cutting-edge buildings of the future, the life on the streets, and the vibrancy of the Hawker Markets, all make its signature. We also knew there were two iconic locations that had to be in the film: the Marina Bay Sands, and the famous Gardens by the Bay.”
What Michelle Yeoh, one of the main actress said "When you’re in Singapore with the tropical air, the smell of food in the Hawker centres and the brilliant colours of the flowers and plants… there’s nothing like being on a location like this.”
According to costume designer Mary Vogt, her instructions from Cho (Director) were “colour, and lots of it! He wanted to show Rachel’s world in New York a bit like Dorothy in Kansas: heavier, with black, white and grays. When she gets off the plane in Singapore, suddenly they’re in Oz where things are brighter, food tastes better, and everything is just a little more hyped up.”
Firstly, Singapore dont have big mansion. Ah ma house is in kl Malaysia
Shooting in MALAYSIA
In movie SINGAPORE
MALAYSIA:👁👄👁👍
I love Jon Chu
most of scenes were in Malaysia but Singapore got the name.. 🥲
Fuck yeah I learned Malaysians are hot lolllll that last part with Gemma, Ken and Awkwafina was hilarious--they'd be so fun to work with!
Malasia is a fusion of asian dishes thats why their food is great😋😋😋😋😋😋
Interestingly the setting looked singaporean for the most part. Excellent representation of the place (sg) if it was shot off-site (malaysia)
Well its next door, the state of Singapore is a fairly recent development. Malaysian influence on Singapore design, culture and food is very important and influential, as well Chinese and European. Singapore is a melting pot taking the best of each culture and blending it :)
i luv Tan Sri Michele Yeoh
OMG yass when I saw Henry and Dato' Sri Michelle who are Malaysians I was like why they didn't make the storyline that Nick is from Malaysia but yeah since it is based on the novel they probably followed the novel but then knowing that they filmed in Malaysia kinda makes me proud and really hope that people who watched the movie know that those beautiful places in the movie is Malaysia not Singapore.
'What was the best thing about Malay-'
'THE FOOD!!- andthepeople'
I love seeing so many Asians in a Hollywood movie
Awkwfina is kinda funny in person.😂 i love her

Mostly Filmed in Malaysia.
Singapore got the name
Bruh.. Seriously?
It was filmed in both countries. It’s says Crazy Rich Asians. Not Crazy Rich Singaporeans / Malaysians.
@@leoesque2803 60% malaysia, 40% Singapore. The film based on Singapore but majority of shooting location in Malaysia
@@fitriganzaholaaa5384 did you or did you not read what I type? Who cares about where it filmed ? The movie just wants to show the Life of a Crazy Rich Asian. Plus they give credit to all the location. Ngl I think your people just love to find something to fight about with SG for no reason.
Why didn’t they film it in Singapore?
yes, they did, the MBS, CHJIMES.....
Singapore has four scenes:
Newton Hawker Centre,
Wedding Ceremony at CHIJMES,
Wedding Reception at Gardens by the Bay,
Engagement Reception at Marina Bay Sands
da96103 im talking about the scenes they filmed in Malaysia
@@xxxibgdrgnxx5603 , same queation, why some scenes they filmed in spore cannot b filmed in msia ?...why the show setup is rich ppl in spore n not msia ?
Xi Jinping half of the scenes in cra where they were showing the young’s richness mostly were filmed in Malaysia , so what are you trying to point out ? xx no hate
I got here by accident ....and amaze to know....huh!,,,
We lived in Jahor for 3 months which is on the Malaysian border but only 30 minutes from Singapore. The prices of everything are crazy different; a lot of people would live in jahor but work in Singapore cause they get paid a lot more then live comfortably in Jahor. Worst part was we are American so we had to go through immigration every time we visited Singapore; took forever.
Its Johor not Jahor
Because long time ago Singapore is belong of Malaysia
hahahah last scene was funnies
in asia , in this case singapore / malaysia, there are only chinese and 2 sikhs
i really need to watch the movie....
The audio in this video is 3d
that line "I'm much more of a Prince Harry" line has more significance now than it did back then lol
Omgg...when was the visit to batu cave anyway? I was there for 2 months...why didnt I see u gaiss ??😭😭😭

Nor,thank you,I thought it might be something like that, well done you.I live in Oz but am from Malaysia.
Who’s Malaysian 🙋
I DID NOT KNOW THE SCENES WERE FILMED IN MALAYSIA EXCEPT FOR THE ONE AT KLIA
Many of the locations were filmed in Malaysia. The Young's mansion was actually Carcossa Seri Negara. The scenes were digitally superimposed with Singapore's skyline etc.
Hi Hakim, thank you for watching! Check out our review (femalemag.com.my/movies/8-things-to-expect-from-the-crazy-rich-asians-movie/3/) to find out what other locations in Malaysia were used for the movie :)
ya, i thot all filmed in spore....if movie setup is msia, then i dont think it will command that great attention....
