I think the people hating on this movie don't understand that this movie's message is directed towards them. We are so used to seeing white people in such roles that this movie is hard to digest and seems unrealistic. But that's the whole point. Asians are not dirt poor. And white people arent the only people who fit these roles. Some Asians are hella rich and hella more elegant than their western counterparts. When we see people of colour or of a different race in roles similar to ours, we stop seeing them as 'others'. Besides the movie isnt just fiction. It's fiction based on reality which is the author's own experience of living in Singapore. Also, I don't see how Constance seems annoyed. She just doesn't give loud reactions. Big deal.
this movie is based on a book and the author's experience while living rich in Singapore. You can make all the comparisons you want. But your words are empty without watching the movie. For many its a great seeing a all asian cast. The story itself doesnt cover all asians, how could it. But the movie is a feel good movie for all not only asians. so Henry just check it out first.
Henry thanks for responding. You remind me of my director/producer friend. Every movie she goes to is dissected, the lighting, the every nuance and how it could have been improved etc. I think both of you would enjoy sharing thoughts, ideas. I asked her if she can ever enjoy a movie watching it from her stand point and she admitted it is difficult. How bout you? Is there a movie that meets your standards?
@@henri.r94 Fundamentally the movie is about the classicism that exists in Chinese culture and how outsiders (namely Chinese who have immigrated to other countries and/or who are lower class) are treated. All the glitzy stuff and the props and the cameos by famous Asian-american comedians are really just decoration for the core of the story, which is Yeoh's character's refusal to accept Wu's character as an acceptable... person in general. Which I think is very emblematic and strongly representative and not cheap or base. And I think that's the strongest part of the movie, and I think particularly because it CAN be such a tacky film, it's super impressive how strong the performances of Yeoh and Wu are. I think it's very much a story for Asian-Americans, though, at it's heart.
Victor Chang she looks better in real life. Such soft healthy skin (without makeup) and very fit body. And very unpretentious, in simple jeans and shirt, having breakfast at her hometown
Constance wu has struggled in her life and came this far. she did not laugh when others were joking for the first paycheck and even at the next question.
Danial Zaini because it is an adaptation based on a novel. I believe we will have a full Malaysian cast comprising of Chinese, Indian, Malay when the movie on 1mdb is released
Where is GEMMA CHAN? The most beautiful and otherworldly Asian woman from UK, (or maybe from anywhere) that I've ever seen? She's in this movie. What a strong actress too. Humans. Crazy Rich Asians and next year, will be in CAptain Marvel as one of the villains. Doctor Minn-erva. I LOVE Gemma Chan! Plus she's my age. 35. Cheers.
Gray bridge Tipton The main male lead is white. He has a white dad an got the role because of white daddy privelage. If his dad was asian he wouldn't have got the role. Had no acting skill was a radio host. Never worked hard for the role. He got the role cause he had a white dad basically.
Vivian Malumpang hapa women will replace you full asian just like the philipine's the biggest female star there is liza saberano white mum and asian dad
I cannot wait to see this! Loved the Joy Luck Club and Memoirs of a Geisha (although the book was better thank the film), so this is another great film highlighting diversity!
Henry (Nick) is on point. good looking. Sexy. Sounds Brit just like what was written in the book! Michelle, ever so beautiful and Constance equally stunning!
Wow so eager to watch the participation of our very own Kris Aquino...and everyone. Congratulations Kris Aquino being a part of this awesome movie....so proud of you girl.
In the book, the lead was slightly British descent and was educated in England through college and university (oxford boi) . So I think their choice to cast Golding was a good one :)
The trailer shows a tacky plot, devoid of reality and purpose. Are audiences supposed to empathize with this because it seems more like a laughing stock resulting in even less respect for the community. Also, what about Asian actors like Tony Leung, Gong Li...? Squashes these actors in my opinion.
Xiao Chen mulan will be better than this crap and they got a white guy to play the lead in this. mulan a disney movie. This crazy rich asians is a crappy warner brothers movie
Tony Leung? Thank god the HK actors are not in it. For one, they speak lousy English.Secondly, their acting sucks. It's just so factory production kind.
Proper representation???Should of called it "Vapid, greedy Superficial, Asian new-money consumer culture"...way to brake the "jade ceiling" with prepetuating the stereotypes we allready had of Asians!!!....what's the seque called l??? "Bad driver,Over-Achiver, Good at Math"???
Constance Wu bought a house before she bought a car. Very smart. Very Asian.
Damn that was an epic promposal lol
I need a copy asap 😂

completely agree. Highly recommend this movie. Lots of laughs and tears and love.

DAMN MICHELLE YEOH LOOKS GOOD
Victor Chang she looks better in real life. Such soft healthy skin (without makeup) and very fit body. And very unpretentious, in simple jeans and shirt, having breakfast at her hometown
that is a legend
Yeah!!! She's amazing both as an artist and as a person! (also I think she won a beauty contest when she was young too)
Michelle was Miss Malaysia 1983
So, Hot Henry went to my hometown and stirred poop.
I LAUGHED TOO MUCH AT THIS COMMENT
Hell yea he did girl! :D
literally burst out into laughter girl
Most shocking fact from him. Haha
Michelle Yeoh, my god this woman is everything!
I am so thankful. They are all so gorgeous and talented
Constance wu has struggled in her life and came this far.
she did not laugh when others were joking for the first paycheck and even at the next question.
Michelle Yeoh 😍😍😍
do you know Michelle Yeoh and Henry GOlding are originally from Malaysia ! Wow proud to be malaysian ;)
Amirul Zulkepli that is stupid
Danial Zaini it's not stupid cause both of them are from Malaysia. U are stupid cause u can't even use Google
Zhi Yuen Lim it is good that they are malaysian but they are chinese malaysian why couldnt there be a malay malaysian in that movie but no
Danial Zaini because it is an adaptation based on a novel. I believe we will have a full Malaysian cast comprising of Chinese, Indian, Malay when the movie on 1mdb is released
Zhi Yuen Lim the book itself does not even have malay or indian characters even though it is crazy rich asian. The movie also dont have
Damn that's one cool way of asking someone to prom
Asian Representation ❤
I adore micelle yeow, she so elegant yet funny and still reserved
henry golding is from East Malaysia, Sarawak 💞 Im proud to be Sarawakian and also he is Iban too 💞
This movie is really amazing, the casts and the story plot, totally something to anticipate to this movie

There's tons of hot asians at Uni and Gemma Chan. OML she's gorgeous.
If anyone had done that titanic type thing I would've swooned. lol so cute
that was a great promposal tho
I’m black , loved the book . I would like to understand why there’s so much backlash.
Gray bridge Tipton The main male lead is white. He has a white dad an got the role because of white daddy privelage. If his dad was asian he wouldn't have got the role. Had no acting skill was a radio host. Never worked hard for the role. He got the role cause he had a white dad basically.
Nah...thats bullshitt...he got it coz of his talent... he's not a radio host....
Vivian Malumpang Its true he got white daddy privilege
Vivian Malumpang hapa women will replace you full asian just like the philipine's the biggest female star there is liza saberano white mum and asian dad
So the problem is that Henry is half White and not 'full' Asian like Nick Young from the book ?
Constance Wu - so beautiful
Jon's promposal was EPIC haha
I cannot wait to see this! Loved the Joy Luck Club and Memoirs of a Geisha (although the book was better thank the film), so this is another great film highlighting diversity!
Pauline Mark I cried watching this movie. I hope you got a chance to see it.
I think Constance Wu is still in character when Michelle started to talk... she's like "C'mon, I'm Nick's girl already... hahahaha"
that was an amazing prom proposal , hella creative.
Constance Wu seems so not entertained.
is she ok lol
I mean she's probably hella exhausted from doing this press tour promoting this film.
lmao she was not paying attention
she seems out of it or annoyed in a few of these press interviews! :(
She was still in the movie when that mom in-law stayed too close and laughed it loud. She just couldn't get away from it. XD
Why does Constance always look like that in all the interviews? She's doesn't seem interested at all in what anyone else says.
omg that love story was ADORABLE
My god that prom story cannot be real!
"Rufi-o, Rufi-o, Rufi-Ooooooh!!" x')
Why didn't Michelle Yeoh appeared in other interviews (Ellen etc.) with Henry Golding.
So proud of them
I can not wait to see the movie.
IM CRYING he mentioned the legendary movie Hook.
i just watch this because of Michelle Yeoh
Love them!!
Michelle Yeoh! Representing asians since james bond ❤️
Woot woot Malaysia!!!!!
Omg Constance went blonde :O
Friendly reminder that Michelle Yeoh is 56 YEARS OLD. DAAAAAAAAAAMN.
that promposal was epic
wut up with constance throwing shade in the corner
Henry (Nick) is on point. good looking. Sexy. Sounds Brit just like what was written in the book! Michelle, ever so beautiful and Constance equally stunning!
@0:24 omg dead at how cute he is 😂
That last question...kind of sad :'( I can't say I have yet to see myself reflected in pop culture--even more so in the country I live in
very good movie.
constance looks so bored
thats every interview lol.
Hope someday an Asian descent win an Emmys and Oscars.
i came here because i thought awkwafina was here
Same! :'(
yep, lime the mineral not lime the fruit. it's spelt the same though as i'm sure many picked up on.
Henry Golding you look like Marco Alcaras a Phil. Actor
So Henry's gone to Tacloban, Philippines before...
rufio that actor is dante basco a filipino-american
Its good to see rich people finally getting representation in Hollywood.
Running on Empty lol
LOL!
Up next " fiscally responsible" Asian rapper/hip-hop artist DJ Finnanz
Constance Wu is not having any of this! HAHAHAHA her face is always bored.
man i wanted to be rufeo too and im a white chick from australia maybe i just wanted rufeo, man that was the best film when i was a kid
jons prom story is legendary what the fuck
Is constance ok? She seems annoyed.
lol I think she's always like that. It's just her personality.
Wow so eager to watch the participation of our very own Kris Aquino...and everyone. Congratulations Kris Aquino being a part of this awesome movie....so proud of you girl.
Michelle Yeoh.
Constance looks out of place....and awkward-even on the Ellen show.
*watchin*
Well, us Asians do love our properties XD
She meant to say "Lime? Oh, you mean calcium hydroxide."
Henry's accent omg
Michelle Yeoh is so damn glamorous..
0.02 the guy on the looks like Trump.... lol
Best proposal of life. Wow haha
Where is Kris Aquino?
RUFIOOOOOOOO
Michelle *wERQ IT!*
What's wrong with Constance wu 🤔
2 malaysians
Is this movie a parody of bourgeois Asian culture or is it some realistic shit? Because of it's the latter, I'm not feeling them.
Constance looks better with dark hair. This hair is so out.
wohooo im early lol
who old is yeoh? she's hot
Constance the least favorite Asian.
Would have been nice for them to pick as Asian lead actor that wasn't half white and British...
In the book, the lead was slightly British descent and was educated in England through college and university (oxford boi) . So I think their choice to cast Golding was a good one :)
michelle yeoh is beautiful. they could have chosen a much likeable lead actress.... she looks too ordinary, especially to an Asian audience or market.
Asian is not predominantly Chinese. Looking at the cast the movie title should change to Crazy Rich Chineses.
Well, by what I've heard of the Mulan movie it's going to be trash....can't really see why you have such expectations.
Tony Leung? Thank god the HK actors are not in it. For one, they speak lousy English.Secondly, their acting sucks. It's just so factory production kind.
Such a boring show!
Underwhelmed by the trailer. Korean dramas have more polish than this
k
JA C the actual movie is way better than the trailer trust me, the critics have spoken
Korean dramas are too simple and empty. Kind of like some girls...pretty but empty.
The male actor who is half british and Asian does not count as being full Asian cast. He doesn't even look Asian.
The female lead looks very generic.
Isn’t that the point? Her character is supposed to be a regular Asian American being thrust into her boyfriend’s world of wealth
Say this again after you watch her performance in Fresh Off the Boat :)
Monica Duong atleast she could have been more special outside acting but nope she is a good girl but bland as a celebrity.
Hy Ong She fuckin ugly would never make it in the chinese movie industry
good thing she's not a Kim Kardashian-type
I'm not gonna watch it coz they are all Chinese, not Asians.Title should be Crazy Rich Chinese.
They're not all Chinese.
Fucking moron, it's a movie. Go bitch somewhere else.
