Once you're done with the series, perhaps, if you'd like, you may want to give Robert Downey Jr's Sherlock movies a try. 100% this! I've seen so many of those theories and I love the beginning of the next season with what they did with them. One of the theories I saw regarding the pulse is if you put a tennis ball in your armpit it cuts off circulation in the entire arm and thus no pulse. No idea if that were the case but that's how I thought he survived
I read somewhere once that there were scenes where John Watson was supposed to have dialogue, but Martin Freeman just said “oh, I’ll just do that with a look” And it works! Martin Freeman is just so good in this role!!
Ricky Gervais once said Martin can exclaim an entire sentence with just a look and that's why in The Office there are so many scenes with Martin just glancing at someone and making faces, I imagine at some point he realised he has a very expressive face. They even take advantage of his many scowls in the Marvel movies.
Peter Jackson alluded to Martin Freeman's talent in "The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies". At the end when the fighting is over, there is a scene where Gandalf sits next to Bilbo to smoke his pipe and Bilbo essentially says "I'm done adventuring. I want to go home now". According to Jackson, they filmed the scene over two dozen times with Freeman making nearly two dozen variations of that line...then Freeman requested that they do the scene without a single word spoken between him and Sir Ian McKellan. Guess which take ended up in the final film?
Martin did mime lessons as a young actor. He’s unimaginably good! He also had to say no to The Hobbit because of Sherlock. Peter Jackson watched Sherlock, and changed his filming schedule - so Martin could film both.

Conan Doyle didn't bring Sherlock back because of hatemail. It was more to do with financial considerations. He finally accepted requests to write more Holmes stories because the income gave him the freedom to concentrate on his real interests...historical and science fiction.
something similar to Dragon Ball and Super Saiyan Goku happened in the 90s. Toriyama apparently wanted to end it with the Frieza saga, but since it was a hit and fans started stalking him and the company who published it wanted more he was basically forced to introduce Super Saiyan Level 2 and all the way to now. My one issue with this show was that when Irene asked "Do you expect me to beg?" and Sherlock says "Yes", he didn't add "Twice." Such a missed opportunity.

The House/Holmes thing goes even deeper. At one point Arthur Conan Doyle was a medical doctor. His mentor Joseph Bell had an extraordinary ability to tell things about his patient's lives and health by noticing little details. An ability that very much impressed Sir Arthur and was incorperated into the character of Sherlock Holmes. With House, the inspiration has come full circle.

no listen martin freeman is such a good actor, like i was OBSESSED with this show when it came out, then kind of fell out of love with it bc of reasons and now have a kind of....fond, but critical nostalgia for it. ive seen that scene in front of sherlocks grave SO many times. and i still tear up when i hear john talking about how human sherlock was. like GOD he is so good.
The funny thing about you not believing his death is that every reader of the original stories knew exactly what was going to happen in that episode because of the title: we just didn't know how they were going to get there or how they were going to fake it. The internet exploded with theories and they had two years to stew in it. FYI there's a video short that they released prior to season 3 called "Many Happy Returns". I suggest watching it before the third season. Great reactions!
i still remember the way everyone was trying to come up with explanations for what happened in between seasons, even my mum and her friends would discuss it over coffee lol it was fun
Sherlock & Irene Adler = Batman & Catwoman. So similar, so much chemistry. Forever impossible for them to give up that part of themselves that keeps them apart
Sherlock and Moriarty = Batman & the Joker... Watson and Mrs. Hudson, collectively are a combination of Robin and Alfred... Lestrade = Gordon... Mycroft = Amanda Waller...
heads up in case you haven't seen this said yet, there is a mini-episode between seasons 2 and 3 that you can find on youtube called "many happy returns", and there is also a special full-length episode between seasons 3 and 4 called "the abominable bride". love that you're covering this show, really enjoying it so far!
A mind palace is something from the original Sherlock books, but it’s also a real technique used for extreme memory recall. It’s actually really fascinating when you look into it. Glad you’re enjoying Sherlock so much, Moffat and Gattis did such an amazing job with this.
(As a Brit... You genuinely have one of the best attempts at a British accent I've seen. Can confirm it is NOT garbage!!) Love the videos btw please keep them coming!!
To this day Sherlock is my absolute favorite TV show of all time, and the finale for season 2 one of the best things I've ever seen. and Moriarty my favorite villain. Fun trivia in case some people don't know, Billie Eilish's song You Should See Me in a Crown is based on Moriarty and the name of the song is taken directly from the dialogue... "In a world full of locked doors, the man with the key is king, and honey, you should see me in a crown". This show is incredible and I love everything about it. So happy you're enjoying it!
Honey, if you thought you were crying now, you just wait for Season 3. I almost never cry (not exaggerating, I regularly go several years at a time without crying) and even I got choked up during "the speech".
You and all others who watch this after it's finish have it so easy. The Two or so year wait between seasons - especially this one - was torture. People were gradually losing their mind trying to figure it all out and with absolutely nothing until the new season, it was absolute chaos. Can't wait for you to watch the rest!
The final episode was perfect from start to finish, with everything perfectly woven, connected and with each character in their roles, reacting as spected of they, demonstrating the capacity for anticipation of both antagonists. In one side, Moriarty, who shows that he perfectly knows, not only to his opponent, but to Sherlock's entire environment... And Sherlock's, who has plans, within the plans and with backup plans in case the alternative plan to the plan fails... A perfect game of shadows.
I have watched this show like 6 times AT LEAST and yet i still cry like a baby every time i see these last 10/15 minutes of Sherlock because Martin Freeman is just SUCH a great actor and i feel his emotions through this entire episode. Super excited to watch you continue the series!
The SHER LOCKED scene is one of my favourites idk, the music and the exchange of looks between equals it's just so cool. Glad you're enjoying it and giving us your commentary!
Natalie, I'm so happy for you that you're experiencing this marvelous show, Sherlock, which is easily one of my favorite ever shows. You gave a very insightful analysis of Andrew Scott's portrayal of Moriarty. Your observation that he usually looks dead eyed, but becomes delighted whenever Sherlock surprises him, is a key part of his funny, edgy and scary performance. Don't worry, Moriarty isn't through with tormenting Sherlock yet. In season 3, you'll find that the stakes get bigger and so do the laughs... and the twists.
It's REALLY neat watching Natalie learn about these awesome characters and relationships from the Holmes universe and the way they're BRILLIANTLY put together in this show. Moffat really is incredible. Imagine having to wait 2 years and not even knowing for sure if there was going to be a season 3...
BBC One premiered a seven-minute Sherlock mini-episode over the 2013 Christmas period entitled "Many Happy Returns". The episode is available via BBC iPlayer, BBC Red Button service, and BBC's RUclips channel,[80] and acts as a prequel to the third series. The synopsis for the episode reads "Sherlock has been gone for two years. But someone isn't quite convinced that he's dead."[81] The 'someone' turns out to be Anderson, the forensics technician from series one and two, who has lost his job due to his obsessive conviction that Sherlock still lives. He had a long-standing mistrust of Sherlock, yet is one of the few people who believes Sherlock is alive, and is seen throughout the episode trying to convince Lestrade. Anderson tracks him via various mysterious events, from Tibet to New Delhi to Germany, in which Sherlock seems to be involved and points out that the incidents are getting progressively closer to London.
The 2 year wait we had to endure for series 3 was cruel. Mind you, I was lucky enough to see the filming of that finale fall, which was fun and I also saw filming for the next season opener (no spoilers). Love this ep, although think 2.01 is my favourite. As for Moriarty, Andrew Scott is a phenomenal actor. He has such a range, whether villain, creepy, vulnerable, sexy, funny, he can do it all, especially on stage. Look out for his new film coming soon called All Of Us Strangers.
When I first watched that first episode of this season, I stopped it and immediately re-watched it for the commentary I was so in love. Thanks for giving me an excuse to re-watch. 🙂
To Sherlock Holmes she is always THE woman. I have seldom heard him mention Irene Adler under any other name. In his eyes she eclipses and predominates the whole of her sex.
Fun fact; Lara Pulver was actually naked in that scene. They told her that just filming skin-to-the-wind would get things done much quicker and she just went for it.
I've loved your reaction to this series, Natalie. It's well written and acted, let alone the direction and shot choices. When this was released there was a two year wait to see the outcome of things, I was a Sherlock Holmes fan from the books and other adaptations so, I knew what to expect to some degree, but they did such a great job in bringing the characters up to date for a modern audience.
The original “Hound Of The Baskervilles” Sherlock Holmes story is especially famous, beloved, and spooky. It was one of the four individually published Holmes books, the other 56 are short stories that were published in The Strand magazine. It’s great that this TV version of Baskervilles, while completely rewritten in plot, kept the high anxiety Horror aspect of the original.
I love this season a lot. I struggle to decide whether I prefer S1 or S2. To me, both have 3 incredibly strong episoides but the 2nd episode of each is a little bit weaker than the others. Can you imagine waiting for YEARS to have a resolution to the ending of the last episode of this season. The breaks between seasons for this show felt so insanely long but with the quality of them and their length essentially being 3 movies per season, it's understandable.
watching this first broadcast on the telly here in the UK there was an eternity between this episode & start of series 3 - it was a cultural phenomenon at the time, the sheer scale of interest and theorising what was going to happen when series 3 started!
The diamond was to focus the force of his strike to a single, incredibly hard point. It's meant to shatter the glass because it's very strong, not very weak
Reichenbach Falls is a place in the Swiss Alps, where Sherlock "dies" in the books. I love the way that the episodes are named from inspiration from the books.
Isn't Sherlock just ever so sweet where Mrs. Hudson is concerned?! The way he just casually tosses a guy out of a high window for daring to lay a finger on her. He may struggle with the words but his actions tell all. It always makes me teary when you realise how much he cares for her.
Every sherlock series is so intricate and crafted with so many different story lines ( no matter how minor) become significant. This is a very cerebral series, and there are turns within turns. The casting is brilliant, and the roles are perfect. So many times you deduce the plot, ant then they twist the universe and your concepts are wrong, but right. Enjoy!!!
Can't wait too see you watch the next episode! Also, there are some great vids of the creators giving some insight into what they were planning/hoping for.
One major change from canon is that in the story which was the basis for the "Reichenbach" episode, Sherlock didn't come back at the end. That was because Doyle really intended it to be the last Sherlock Holmes story; he was tired of writing homes stories so he deliberately killed him off. Popular outcry was so great that he brought him back in the next story, but at the time it was written ? Holmes was definitely dead.
Moriarty with the diamond + gum, I think the idea is that the case is tempered glass, so very hard to break with a blunt object... but if you hit it with a sharp object you can break it. So he does it with style, sticking a pointy object (the diamond) to the glass and then hitting it with the fire extinguisher.
I imagine your reaction may be different to ours' because you didn't have to wait years between seasons.... but I'm interested in seeing the tone of your next Sherlock reactions.
I'm sooo happy when you mentioned House!! I recently started watching the show and IT IS AMAZINGGG I AM ADDICTED! I can't believe someone would actually mention house anymore since the show ended quite long ago
Lol I was literally just looking for part 2 yesterday kinda figured it was about that time. Guess I was just a day early! Love this show and re-experiencing it again with Natalie is awesome

They butchered it. Sad
no listen martin freeman is such a good actor, like i was OBSESSED with this show when it came out, then kind of fell out of love with it bc of reasons and now have a kind of....fond, but critical nostalgia for it. ive seen that scene in front of sherlocks grave SO many times. and i still tear up when i hear john talking about how human sherlock was. like GOD he is so good.
You’ve been bamboozled. 😂 You’re definitely right, it hit harder not knowing there’ll be a season 3 or not.
i knew the title was reichenbach fall so knew he was going to "die" and it later be found he faked his death
Sherlock & Irene Adler = Batman & Catwoman.
So similar, so much chemistry. Forever impossible for them to give up that part of themselves that keeps them apart
So true
Should have seen that Korean commercial for season 2. They edited like Adler was the other woman in John and Sherlock's marriage.
It was perfect.
@@lafatte24can you tell me what is the title of the video?
Sherlock and Moriarty = Batman & the Joker... Watson and Mrs. Hudson, collectively are a combination of Robin and Alfred... Lestrade = Gordon... Mycroft = Amanda Waller...
heads up in case you haven't seen this said yet, there is a mini-episode between seasons 2 and 3 that you can find on youtube called "many happy returns", and there is also a special full-length episode between seasons 3 and 4 called "the abominable bride". love that you're covering this show, really enjoying it so far!
Andrew Scott is an extraordinary actor in this series. This show really put him on the map.
Having to wait 2 years to find out what happened was AGONY! LOL
I love that they acknowledged fan theories in next season
@@MrDarkSidius Spoilers! Nat's not seen it yet... Lol
I'm joking of course!
A mind palace is something from the original Sherlock books, but it’s also a real technique used for extreme memory recall. It’s actually really fascinating when you look into it.
Glad you’re enjoying Sherlock so much, Moffat and Gattis did such an amazing job with this.
Andrew Scott is an absolute gem. So brilliant at being cheeky and evil 🤣
Speaking of evil he was cast to play "the talented Mr. Ripley" in the upcoming Ripley. Should be great to see Andrew as a chameleonic sociopath.
(As a Brit... You genuinely have one of the best attempts at a British accent I've seen. Can confirm it is NOT garbage!!) Love the videos btw please keep them coming!!
Best season of Sherlock, in my opinion!
Which makes season 3 all the more infuriating
Its all downhill from here🤣
Still far better than anything thats out right now
@@bibek12332 tbf, the wedding was pretty cool. And probably the last good episode.
I liked season 3 but I agree!!
@@AlessaParker I also like the special between the, i believe, 3rd and 4th season!
You cut the best line "I may be on the side of angels but don't think for a second that I am one of them"
To this day Sherlock is my absolute favorite TV show of all time, and the finale for season 2 one of the best things I've ever seen. and Moriarty my favorite villain.
The Hound of the Baskervilles is one of the best (and best known) stories from the books.
Honestly, The Reichenbach Fall is one of my favourite episodes of television I've ever seen.
Andrew Scott, my god, such a GREAT GREAT actor. I suggest Fleabag, if you want another british acting masterpiece (but comedy)
The Hounds of Baskerville was by far my favorite episode, because it's SUCH a cool take on the original story.
It’s brilliant! The guy behind it all I spotted him when he said cell phone. The mind Palace
The SHER LOCKED scene is one of my favourites idk, the music and the exchange of looks between equals it's just so cool. Glad you're enjoying it and giving us your commentary!
10:02 He's not a psychopath. He's a high functioning sociopath.
Do your research.
He was joking, a narcessist rather.
@@dougstevenson1503 Merry Christmas
He's very definitely neither of those things, quite obviously
With your phone number.
The first episode of this series caused a awakening in me when I was 12, I’ll say no more
The reaction to them holding hands was such a mood I mean how can anyone not see the potential? 😌
Many Happy Returns is indeed absolutely worth a watch before starting season 3!
Yeah, John's emotions were real and Freeman's performance is brilliant... hard not to cry.
Yessss been waiting eagerly for more Sherlock!! My top tier comfort show, and one of favourite reactors to watch. 👌🏼
First two seasons are pretty dang nostalgic, I'm curious to see what you'll think about season 4 lol
To Sherlock Holmes she is always THE woman. I have seldom heard him mention Irene Adler under any other name. In his eyes she eclipses and predominates the whole of her sex.
I like how Robert Downey Jr's Sherlock would refer to her as THAT woman as if he was always infuriated at her.
It was not that felt any emotion akin to love for Irene Adler ...
Fun fact; Lara Pulver was actually naked in that scene.
They told her that just filming skin-to-the-wind would get things done much quicker and she just went for it.
The S2 finale is one of the best episodes of television I think I've ever seen!
Love these Sherlock reactions! Make sure to watch "Many Happy Returns" before the next season.
The end of this season was less of a cliff hanger and more of a roof jumper.
WARNING: Jim Moriarty is NOT the creepiest person Sherlock will have to deal with.
Nat, simping for John is a whole mood, and I love it!
//The women //
One of the simple yet epic line
Bcuz i took your pulse... 🖤
A Scandal in Belgravia is my favorite episode of the entire series, it’s so good
I love this season a lot.
I ADORE you doing a British accent. It’s so good. But also I am SO happy you’re doing this series
I still cry because of John. Seeing him hurting made me cry😢😢
watching this first broadcast on the telly here in the UK there was an eternity between this episode & start of series 3 - it was a cultural phenomenon at the time, the sheer scale of interest and theorising what was going to happen when series 3 started!
The diamond was to focus the force of his strike to a single, incredibly hard point. It's meant to shatter the glass because it's very strong, not very weak
Yep, though a genuine burglar would have placed the diamond very close to one of the corners rather than directly in the middle of the pane.
Reichenbach Falls is a place in the Swiss Alps, where Sherlock "dies" in the books. I love the way that the episodes are named from inspiration from the books.
As in "The Geek Interpreter"? 😅 (Originally obviously "The Greek Interpreter".)
Feels so good to be relieving this series with you. Random, have you seen Starship Troopers??
Funny aside - Russell Tovey, the actor playing the character Henry, was ALSO in another show called "Being Human" where he played a werewolf...
And he was in Dr Who.
Baskerville was one of my favourite episodes. The vibes were just too good with the woods and the mystery. The locations were so pretty.
Isn't Sherlock just ever so sweet where Mrs. Hudson is concerned?! The way he just casually tosses a guy out of a high window for daring to lay a finger on her. He may struggle with the words but his actions tell all. It always makes me teary when you realise how much he cares for her.
I love it when Natalie turns around in the chair 180° for the intro. It's just so good.
Holmes was definitely dead.
he needed money
Moriarty with the diamond + gum, I think the idea is that the case is tempered glass, so very hard to break with a blunt object... but if you hit it with a sharp object you can break it. So he does it with style, sticking a pointy object (the diamond) to the glass and then hitting it with the fire extinguisher.
I imagine your reaction may be different to ours' because you didn't have to wait years between seasons.... but I'm interested in seeing the tone of your next Sherlock reactions.
Sherlock and Irene are just the OG version of Batman and Catwoman.
Speaking as a Brit and avid viewer of yours, your British accent is very good. Keep up the good work
Sherlock keeps stunning the watcher, that and your love of the characters makes it amazing.
"She's a dominatrix, which reminds me, here's a word from our sponsor."
I'm sooo happy when you mentioned House!! I recently started watching the show and IT IS AMAZINGGG I AM ADDICTED! I can't believe someone would actually mention house anymore since the show ended quite long ago
Once again star Benedict Cumberbatch is magnetic with the quirky, sly demeanor he brings to Sherlock Holmes.
Lol I was literally just looking for part 2 yesterday kinda figured it was about that time. Guess I was just a day early! Love this show and re-experiencing it again with Natalie is awesome
Yes, yes, yes! Can't believe someone is finally reacting to this! Scandal in Belgravia is my absolute favorite episode of anything ever!
I AM SHER LOCKED launched another fanfare in tumblr and it was glorious to witness
I really like your accent. I may be using your videos as inspiration for finding my own voice during my transition. Love your channel so much. I can't wait for more Korra personally. I would suggest more anime once you finish Korra but if it's not your thing no worries. Your enjoyment is part of the beauty of this channel. Keep up the good work.
your english accent is pretty good! convinced me at first and im english
This is absolutely brilliant! Lara Carver is fantastic in this. Her battle dress was a true surprise 🤣🤣
It had to be mentioned somewhere but don’t miss the RDJ movies. They’re not as Sherlocky but still a good watch. Holmes is one of my favorite characters so I’ll give any iteration a shot. Stay Golden.
Sherlock is an amazing series! ❤
Your reactions are so dynamic, I love it 😊
Sherlock and Irene have such a great chemistry!
