The stories tend to be retelling of the originals, like this was originally A Study in Scarlet. The gag with Anderson and Rache being German for revenge was a nod to the original solution. It got thrown out there nearly immediately so audiences familiar with the original story will catch on they're reimagining the plot.
yeah they couldn't straight up duplicate doyle's books. had to keep even those who read all of them guessing. it was a fresh and exciting take on holmes. while it lasted.
As a Holmes fan, I enjoyed the references to the original material. Even the change of a word like Scarlet to Pink, it's that nice little twist that reminds you this is a new take on it.
@@vinsanity40k Plus also too much ejaculation. Seriously - 23 of them in the original stories. The word had a slightly different meaning 100 years ago.

The first tale was "A Study in Red" and another called, "The Five Orange Pips," proving the show runners are total Sherlock nerds. Delightful series with creepy villains! Keep watching and reviewing, Nat. We're here watching with you!
"A Study In Scarlet". But yes, the makers drew more than a few parallels and made a lot of respectful bows to the original books. Watson's Afghan service was one - the fact that there were two wars in Afghanistan, one at the time of the original characters, and one at the time of the show is just a breathtaking coincidence and opportunity for that reference. As for Moriarty, I think the description everyone's looking for is "playful". That's the best way I can describe his sing-song "No you won't" quip. Andrew Scott made Prof. Moriarty quite playful, contrary to the original character of very serious, distinguished, extremely strict Victorian gentleman.
@@TarisSinclair [w.r.t. what you said about Scott's Moriarty] I think it was something of a masterstroke to write him that way coz, if I'm not wrong, the OC (original character) was a Mathematician by profession who had a thing for crime. Scott's version doesn't have the former; he's simply a criminal mastermi--- I mean _consulting_ criminal mastermind who seems to derive immense pleasure from seeing horrific events unfold that were orchestrated by him in some way or the other, and while he does show the same tendency when he sees that he could lose, Scott's way of portraying it seemed to be exasperation more/rather than rage, or a mix but tilted in a 55/45 ratio (that was my takeaway from the rooftop subplot in the finale of S2). All of that to say, this interpretation, IMO, was a decent way, if not as brilliant, to show a contemporary audience that this is what Holmes could be if pushed just enough. His 'coworkers' always seemed to expect him to tilt to the other way, but to see it actually happen would no doubt be hell, unless they pulled some absolutely simple trick that would frustrate him to no end coz it'd be so dull/boring. 😂
When i first saw this series, i was a little dissapointed by the choice of casting him as Moriarty because i had a different picture of that character in my head. But he was really scary and creepy as hell!! Beautiful performance.
This show was created and written by Mark Gatiss (who also plays Sherlock's brother Mycroft) and Steven Moffat. Moffat is known for creating other shows in the UK over the years but is probably best known for being the showrunner of Doctor Who throughout Matt Smith's and Peter Capaldi's tenures as The Doctor. Moffat also wrote some of the more memorable Doctor Who episodes during Chris Eccleston's and David Tennant's tenures. In fact, at one point he was running both Doctor Who and Sherlock at the same time! Many of the Sherlock episodes also give Sir Arthur Conan Doyle writing credit as well, because many of the episodes are adaptations loosely based on his original stories, but with changes and plot twists made so that those familiar with the originals (like myself, I read them all as a kid) can experience a completely new version of them. By doing this Gatiss and Moffat were able to make a popular modernization of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson that succeeded where many other attempts at similar "updating" of the classic characters have failed. BTW, if you find you like Sherlock well enough, I highly recommend the BBC Sherlock Holmes series of the 1980's and early 90's starring Jeremy Brett as Holmes. They are very faithful adaptations of the original stories and Conan Doyle's family endorsed Jeremy Brett as the quintessential Holmes.
Slight correction: the Jeremy Brett series (which is probably the definitive Sherlock Holmes set in the original period) was a Granada TV production, not BBC .
Many felt Moffat's welcome was overstayed on Doctor Who, but regardless of how he is as a showrunner, it has to be emphasised that he wrote some of the best episodes of Doctor Who ever, Blink, Silence in the Library, Beast Below, The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances - all very recommended! Also those Sherlock Holmes shows were made by ITV, a different (private/commercial) British broadcaster
The cleverness of the writing, the charm of Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes and Martin Freeman as Watson, the wit of the visuals, the sheer all-encompassing magnificence of it... Everything about it is perfect. Even the score is amazing.
@@SonicMegaKing the deductions and adaptations they made to transfer Sherlock's character to a new era. The explanation to his deductions are pretty believable, especially in a first time watching it and his character is very captivating. Based on your stand out type of comment I'm guessing you're one of the people who doesn't like the show and overanalyze everything. If that really is the case, that will ruin your enjoyment of every single thing you watch, as it would ruin it with this show in particular. Nothing is perfect and every story can be stupid or inconsistent at times.
@@mareiramvmany people didn't like the show, I watched it with an open mind and still give it a 7 out of 10, bringing an old character into a current era is just as difficult as the opposite, even with good writing, this is evident by the MULTIPLE plotholes or side storylines being abruptly ended in later seasons due to the CONVENIENT existence of the internet and technology, leading to the series being stopped/cancelled for continuation. You can LITERALLY find anyone's address or phone number or their name from the internet RIGHT NOW if you have the skills, so this should've been a "hacker" series instead of "detective" series, then people will watch it with a different expectations and remain satisfied without offending BOTH haters and fans
@@ramteja1550 the existence of the internet didn't cancelled the show. In fact, a lot was being debated about the making of season 5. Moffat even said that if the actors agree with the idea they could do it, which means the BBC could go on with this particular version of the character. Have you looking for people's adress or phone number in the internet lately? Could you give me Hailee Steinfeld number? I'm asking for a friend. No, but being serious now. No jokes... Adresses could totally be a problem, despite the internet, because the big bad of the show is Moriarty, someone who controls crime and escapes justice despite a lot of very important people (Mycroft) being against him. Hidding an adress wouldn't be a problem if that was the case, but good thing the series isn't about finding adresses, but the contained mystery of this one super smart detective. Plot holes and little conviniences can happen anywhere, as long as they don't ruin the fun with the show, it's all good. Nat seems very invested in the characters and story so far, I had a good time watching it and a lot of people did too. @@mareiramvbut that's not the truth. In the beginning most of his deductions do work, we see how he arrives at some of the conclusions, but some of them are already... questionable. The pool scene is the audition that got Andrew Scott the role as Moriarity because his constant shifting in tone and the sudden outburst shocked the director that made him say yes on the spot
The production on this series was incredible. It's the first time (afaik) they used the floating text for cell messages. Before that they would cut to the phone screen. It's normal now but this was the first show I noticed using it. The production of this show really was innovative in ways we take for granted now.
Ohhhhh dear god!!! I love this series!!! 🥰 I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did!!! I am looking forward to your next Sherlock reactions! I am sure you will love it! 🥰 Thank you!!
The way Andrew Scott delivers the 2 lines "Jim Moriarty.... hiiiiii" and "that's what people DO!!!!" so differently really demonstrates both sides of his portrayal of Moriarty's terrifying personality and perfectly encapsulates what makes him so brilliant and why so many people on the internet latched onto that character at the time of the show's run. I can't wait for you to watch S2!!
I think this was the first real fandom I had of my own. Sherlock got me hook line and sinker from that very first wink he gave john, and it proceeded to wreak havoc in my mind and life for years. I've moved on to other fandom hyperfixations, and this is the first time I got really excited about this show again. I forgot how utterly brilliant it was. Thank you for bringing this show back to life for me💖
In 2014 Eddie Redmayne burst into existence with a portrayal of Stephen Hawking in the Oscar-winning biopic The Theory of Everything, but ten years earlier there was a made-for-TV movie called Hawking where Benedict played Stephen and in my opinion Benedict's portrayal was much better. Also in 2004 he was still a young nubbin with only a handful of random TV appearances under his belt so Hawking was his first big project where he played the title role and had top billing, it would be another decade before he would become a household name after small parts in films like Atonement and The Other Boleyn Girl, but back in 2004 as a 20 year old Stephen Hawking you could clearly see how talented he was.
I love all the references to the books in this series -- like Rache or Sherlock's dismissal of astronomy. It really elevates the show for those who have read the classics while still updating the stories for a modern audience.
I am THRILLED that you're reacting to this! There aren't a lot of Sherlock reactions out there, and for as much of a reputation it and the fans have now, I was OBSESSED at the time. This show had a chokehold in fandom spaces for years lmao. If you're looking for a fun follow-up after Sherlock, I HIGHLY recommend Good Omens. It stars Michael Sheen (Aro from Twilight) and David Tennant (Killgrave from Jessica Jones) as an angel and a demon respectively, trying to thwart the impending apocalypse. It's based on a novel by Neil Gaiman (author of the Coraline book) and Terry Prachett, and it's super fun religious satire, and it's funny and cleverly written and whimsical, and the chemistry between the two leads is STELLAR (they've since become really good friends irl). And season 2 just dropped, and GIRLIE. Talk about a chokehold on its fandom, that s2 finale was INTENSE. I really think you'd love it. 💕
@@midoriioyama9548 Yeah, my first instinct was obviously Doctor Who, but then I remembered the beginning of the video and went mmmmmmm maybe not lmao 😂😂

Oh goddddd even though some of the scenarios are a bit... too much, I absolutely LOVED this show when I was watching it. The korean ads for season 2 were also hilarious.
Nat's Sherlock reactions have been so much fun to watch. She will be wrapping up season 2 over on her Patreon this week if you can't wait to see more 😊
A fun bit of voice casting, in the planetarium, the voice narrating the space show is Peter Davison, best known for playing the 5th Doctor on Doctor Who in the 1980s. Steven Moffat grew up a huge Doctor Who fan, and was the Showrunner for the New Doctor Who series beginning in 2010 (the same time he was making Sherlock)
One of the two writers was in a bonkers TV skit show called A League of Gentlemen (he also played the banker in Game of Thrones). In the behind the scenes they state that the deductions were a nightmare and took so long to plot out.
I know this is a couple months old, but Martin freeman as bilbo in the hobbit is amazing. And even though everyone hates on the hobbit trilogy, I absolutely loved the first two movies. Highly recommend

Oh I’ve missed this! I love the reimagining of the original short stories from the late1800’s -early 1900’s. And the throw out references to stories that they don’t use but know the fans still love. (Looking at you Greek Interpreter)
I would love for her to start Doctor Who as well! I feel like she’d love it. You do have to fight through the weak episodes though, to get to the phenomenal ones. My favourite series easily.

Gosh I still remember when I first watched an episode of Sherlock back then. I had just arrived at my hotel in Cardiff with a 3 hour delay and without my luggage, becuase that was in Paris due to a fault of Shipol Airport. Anyway. I just wanted to wind down, poured myself a glass of wine and turned on the telly. While skipping channels I came across "The Great Game". i was hooked on the spot and at the end I thought, Yay, I can watch the resolution to the cliffhanger next Sunday. Little did I know that I had to wait two years to see it unfold.
I loved your reaction to these episodes, Natalie. Sherlock Holmes is a classic character and Professor Moriarty is his main nemesis in the books, this series brought the characters into the modern age. This is an excellent series very well written and acted, with a great cast, it has, mystery, excitement, love, action, and of course great detective work.
Sherlock is definitely my favorite character, and thanks to this series it made me a fan of Benedict Cumberbatch since 2010, who is an amazing actor (one of the best)
The last season turned me off so I never went back to this show but watching this video reminded me how much I loved the earlier seasons! Martin Freeman is one of my favorite british actors and I really love his Watson. Amazing character!
I really enjoy this incarnation of Moriarty, he is so manic and levity you mentioned really juxtaposes well to make the serious moments scarier. The actor is also in the second season of Fleabag (highly recommended show) and he is charming in that as well.
Holy shiiiiit, I was not expecting this but, it makes total sense. I think you're going to love this series. Perfect casting and the writing is some of the best the BBC has done.
This show was my first introduction to Cumberbatch, way before the MCU became a thing. It's also the best version of Sherlock Holmes imho. Which is funny, cause RDJ (Iron Man) also played a classic version of SH in a couple of movies. Glad you're getting introduced to the character and his merry gang - Watson, Moriarty, The Woman, Mrs Hudson, Lestrade... You're in for a fun ride 😊
I was OBSESSED with this show while it was airing. I even read every single Sherlock Holmes story Doyle wrote because of this show. But then season 4 happened and…yikes.
I think everyone was obsessed with the show when it came out, it was an actual cultural phenomenon at the time, and I'd argue that that hype and popularity was its undoing (at least to some extent)
I love watching Phil Davis, who played the killer taxi driver. You should see him in Whitechapel. It’s a cool series. Season 1 revolves around a Jack the Ripper copycat.
Luckily for you, you can watch these seasons pretty close together. When this originally came out over ten years ago, we had to wait a year or more to get the next season. And the last one I think we didn't even know was going to happen and they sprang it on us. Great show, though! Enjoy!!
The blue box in doctor who is a police box. It has a phone you can use to call the police and an office can put a suspect in there while they are busy doing something else. So its like a mini jail cell.
This show was a huge immediate hit in the UK in 2010. Literally overnight Cumberbatch went from unknown unless you liked theatre to a hugely famous here. It also started Andrew Scott’s rise when he appeared as Moriarty (who is an iconic villain in fiction). Huge rating too. By the end of the 3rd ep it was huge and we then had 2 years to wait for season 2. Agony!
When I tell you that the ship Johnlock dominated the entirety of the 2010s, as well as my life. To this day, they're still my #1 OTP and occasionally, I still read fics about them. But can you blame us? The chemistry between the two is so freaking obvious, everyone in the show ships it!
i honestly could never ever see what everyone saw, they just gave such a strong friend energy... thats it. kinda find it weird how everyone talkes abut toxic masculinity but fetishes any strong male platonic friendship shown with emotions involved .
@@30goals I'm sooo happy that someone has my same point of view here, I really don't see them as a ship because John is literally Sherlock's first friend and I also find it weird that nowdays we always say "two man can be friends without being gay" but as soon as they see sherlock and john they scream gay. Yes they have great chemistry but that doesn't mean they're in love and I know it shouldn't bother me but it does because it's the only thing people say
@ridersinblack3335 I totally understand when people say it's a strong friendship or that Sherlock is asexual. It's a totally valid reading. However, for me personally, there was so much sexual and romantic tension between the two that, coupled with all the gay jokes in the show itself (especially ep 1 of season 2), I found it impossible to see Sherlock as purely asexual. I saw him more as strongly demisexual, maybe bi- romantic, and John was the only one who got through his barriers.
Bear in mind that the Van Buren Supernova puzzle was concocted, because Moriarty has been watching Sherlock, & knows through John's blog that one of his blind spots was astronomy, yet Sherlock never admonishes John for writing about his weaknesses, even though it put people's lives in danger. So, he either likes John too much to blame him, or he secretly likes having his weaknesses known, to make the challenges more interesting. You decide.
I love this show! The first two seasons are SO CLEVER. Martin and Benedict have such amazing chemistry with these characters. The writing of these earlier episodes is particularly fun for those of us who've read the stories. Little details and themes that echo or play off of the original work are so delicious.
Oh my gosh I never expected this! Don't think I've ever watched someone's reaction to this before! Man it's been years since I've seen this! Loved it way back then... I am _not_ looking up the year... I already feel old enough. Super excited to see what you think!!!
Not seeing anyone else mention it so: The side-comment from Watson about the Earth revolving around the Sun is Watson taking a shot at Sherlock. Saying that the world doesn't revolve around him, as Sherlock can be very narcissistic at times. He's not implying that Sherlock doesn't know how the solar system works 😅
Excited to see you watch this. Might be an idea to watch the first two series and end it there though. As with most things Moffat touches - they tend to get progressively more ridiculous and suffer as a result.
Few fun things to know: 1. Marvel always points to the address of doctor strange, since they give a very similar vibe. 2. There are two sherlock movies also which is played by RDJ, and both benedict and RDJ portrayed them equally well, thus fans were also very excited to see two sherlock in one frame in the mcu. 3. I'm also waiting for the moment of doctor strange meet agent ross(martin freeman) in mcu
Also the girl in the second episode is Gemma Chan who plays Sersi in The Eternals and Minnerva in Captain Marvel. She is also Astrid in Crazy Rich Asians and Anita in the Tv show Humans
I had a case of short but complete brain eclipse watching Black Panther, when Agent Ross (Martin Freeman) interrogated Ulysses Klaw (Andy Serkis). I kept having deja vu vibes as if I'd seen that dynamic before. Once the eclipse was over I realised: "duh, idiot, you're looking at Bilbo meets Gollum 2.0!"
Andrew Scott (Moriarty) is one of the sweetest most lovely humans on the planet it's wild that he's so good at being scary 😂 Oh I'm so excited for more of this! Season 2 is absolute PEAK in my opinion. Just an absolute stunner from beginning to end. This was so much fun!
So fun watching someone experience this for the first time! The show had its problems but I really am still fond of it. We waited like a year and a half after that cliffhanger when it first aired lol. Enjoy the ride.
While I was very interested from the first episode, Andrew Scott's 'That's what people DO!' Delivery just grabbed me into the fandom and didn't let go for a LONG time 🤣
I think the series hits best when you've already read the books, that way you catch all the references put in especially for those who know the stories.
So wiriting this comment I‘m only 16 minutes in where you just watched episode 1 and as an absolute Sherlock-Freak this video makes me so happy! I have barely any friends who like sherlock and seeing someone watch it for the first time just is so… idk it just makes me happy. If you haven’t already you should watch the unaired pilot (internet archive has it) as well, its kinda different from „a study in pink“ but so cute
Just a little FYI on the character. In the novels and short stories Sherlock is a detective in Victorian London. This show is a modern retelling of some of those stories. The episode titles are a variation of the story titles in the book. The first novel is "A Study in Scarlet" while the name of Ep 1 is "A Study in Pink" . Several episodes are like that with the book's title and general plot. The way he and Watson meet is almost the same as it happens in the novel There are many adaptations of Sherlock Holmes with Jeremy Brett's version (1984-1994) being the most faithful to the books. The same time this show was airing there was an American adaption airing call "Elementary" which was another version that took place in modern times in NYC. Also FYI. pips are the seeds of the orange.
What a pleasant surprise to find that you're reviewing "Sherlock", Natalie! Your review of season one was nicely done. The show's creators changing of the time period to the twenty-first century was an inspired twist, and Sherlock's brilliant writing and acting make it easily one of my all-time favorite tv shows. The first season is good, but beginning with season 2, the show gets great. There's jaw dropping moments that you'll never see coming. I've recommended this show to six people and they've all loved it. Can't wait to see your reactions to what's coming.
Great choice. Once you finish this try watching the first two episodes of “elementary” just as a great comparison to how the characters of Sherlock Holmes and Watson are changed from show to show. Many have played the two over the last 100 years.
I'm certain very few people share my preference, but I love Elementary a lot more than I like Sherlock. I'm English btw, and used to enjoy the ACD books as a teen. I love Sherlock's ongoing battle with addiction in Elementary. Also, Sherlock and Joan have this chemistry, despite never getting romantic. They both grow, change, and are made better by the other.
Personally just don't see it. I stuck with Elementary even after the embarrassingly poorly written pilot, and to be fair it got OK and I enjoyed it as a generic US show. It was stretched out by a good twice the number of episodes per series with huge amounts of filler, the writing was changeable, and the acting was carried by Miller entirely with Liu being OK but could have been replaced by practically anyone and I don't think it would impact anything. But I do personally know at least one person who liked it more as well, there will be people who hate both I'm sure and are confused by all fans.
I am so excited to see you react to this. I'm always surprised that more reactors don't watch it. Such an amazing show. Watching it as it aired on TV and then having to wait..and wait...and wait for the next season was so much fun. Especially for the fans on Tumblr. We were the Fandom Who Waited.

So many amazing actors made small appearances on that show, such as Andrew Garfield and Olivia Coleman. It's a long one, even watching the modern series, but if you had the time it'd be incredible

Brett was brilliant, but I still prefer Rathbone. Or maybe it was Nigel Bruce as Watson, which made the films so great.
What cleverness?
In a first watch, you can buy what they are selling, but if you overanalyze things, you will never have fun. Also, can you give an exemple of sidestory they INTERRUPTED? Because everyone had their ending by the end of season 4.
@@mareiramvbut that's not the truth. In the beginning most of his deductions do work, we see how he arrives at some of the conclusions, but some of them are already... questionable. As the show goes on, there's less and less "explanations". He just makes leaps, huuuge conjectures which just so happen to be right nearly everytime.
I HAVE BEEN BLESSED ON THIS DAY!!! I hope you enjoy this series Nat!
hahaha glad you’re happy!
@@NatalieGoldReactswait have you reacted to The Count of Monte Cristo?
Its a perfection of a movie *chef kiss*
Ohhhhh dear god!!! I love this series!!! 🥰 I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did!!! I am looking forward to your next Sherlock reactions! I am sure you will love it! 🥰 Thank you!!
"You stopped her husband from being executed?"
"Oh, no. I ensured it."
Savage. Love it :D
I‘m so excited for your reaction to this. I keep coming back to Sherlock, it’s such a comfort show for me. I hope you’ll enjoy it as well :)
This was an amazing series, and each episode was like a movie.
Thank you for bringing this show back to life for me💖
If you want more Benedict Cumberbatch I would recommend The Imitation Game. One of my favorite movies of his for sure.
Agreed!
I think Imitation Game is one of Benedict's finest performances.
THE ENDING TORE ME APART 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Watching Natalie enjoying these episodes of Sherlock is a joy on itself. I think she should watch The Mentalist too.
Your choose to say Killgrave for David Tennat suprised me, but i guess it makes sense for Natalies chanel 😂
@@midoriioyama9548 Yeah, my first instinct was obviously Doctor Who, but then I remembered the beginning of the video and went mmmmmmm maybe not lmao 😂😂
i really really really wasn't expecting this reaction, but as a lifelong fan of the books, the show consumed my life for a little bit so i'm so glad to see it
Oh goddddd even though some of the scenarios are a bit... too much, I absolutely LOVED this show when I was watching it. The korean ads for season 2 were also hilarious.
Sherlock and Doctor Who was a huge part of my childhood! British television is on another level most of the times
Nat's Sherlock reactions have been so much fun to watch. She will be wrapping up season 2 over on her Patreon this week if you can't wait to see more 😊
First time I watched A Study in Pink, I thought “it’s the princess bride.” It didn’t matter what bottle he picked. That the cabbie was immune.
i always thought that too
Sherlock is such a delight for the brain! And I love Andrew Scott's portrayal of Moriarty. It seems like he really had fun in that role!
OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE WATCHING SHERLOCK😭 That's one of my favorite shows, I'm so happy you're reacting to it!🥹
One of the two writers was in a bonkers TV skit show called A League of Gentlemen (he also played the banker in Game of Thrones). In the behind the scenes they state that the deductions were a nightmare and took so long to plot out.
Soooo happy to see you reacting to this show! It's so ridiculously charming and I adore it.
Also Molly Hooper is a beautiful angel and I love her
I know this is a couple months old, but Martin freeman as bilbo in the hobbit is amazing. And even though everyone hates on the hobbit trilogy, I absolutely loved the first two movies. Highly recommend
I remember when I first found this show randomly on Netflix and binged the WHOLE thing 😂😂 can’t wait for her to get into the story and characters because I’m sure she will love it
Oh I’ve missed this! I love the reimagining of the original short stories from the late1800’s -early 1900’s. And the throw out references to stories that they don’t use but know the fans still love. (Looking at you Greek Interpreter)
Interesting to see you explore this series, I'd love to see you check out Dr Who too, though that might be a bit of a rabbit hole of a franchise.
I would love for her to start Doctor Who as well! I feel like she’d love it. You do have to fight through the weak episodes though, to get to the phenomenal ones.
My favourite series easily.
Doctor Who is my all time fav series! But yeah, some of the first eps are rough (but I still love them)
NuWho or ClassicWho
@@johnpaullogan1365 As someone who's watched the whole series (with reconstructions when necessary) multiple times, definitely Nu then like...highlight serials from the classic series if she's invested, unless she wants this to just become a Doctor Who reaction channel lol

Sherlock is one of my favorite shows, I am sat! Moriarty is one of my favorite characters of any show ever 🤣 his reveal at the pool gets me every time.
I cannot tell you how happy I am that you're giving this a go!
Imagine waiting 2 YEARS at a time to watch the next season 😭😭😭
Great choice! Sherlock has some wonderful moments. Enjoy! ❤
This is such a good series! A Scandal in Belgravia is still my favourite episode 👏🏿
Such a good episode 😻
I remember being so mad when I watched it. I couldn't tell if I hated the woman or loved her. To this day, it's both.
@@lafatte24 perfectly summed up lol
Sherlock is bloody fantastic. Be happy you don't have to suffer with waiting for new episodes like we did.
Fleabag will absolutely destroy her... But I think I also need to see that... It's SUCH a good show and I love seeing new people react to it.

Seen the Hbomberguy video essay?
I think everyone was obsessed with the show when it came out, it was an actual cultural phenomenon at the time, and I'd argue that that hype and popularity was its undoing (at least to some extent)
Whats wrong w/ season 4?
@@sarathomas8499 jumped the shark too much. The final episode is better.
Enjoy!!
My favorite show ever. I just got the complete Blu-ray set from amazon because I love it so much.
The blue box in doctor who is a police box. It has a phone you can use to call the police and an office can put a suspect in there while they are busy doing something else. So its like a mini jail cell.
With the police box has the phone on the outside.
Interesting!
A *lot* of suspects can put in there. It's bigger on the inside than the outside.

Same! Even wrote a couple :)
i honestly could never ever see what everyone saw, they just gave such a strong friend energy... thats it. kinda find it weird how everyone talkes abut toxic masculinity but fetishes any strong male platonic friendship shown with emotions involved .
I wrote a lot of Johnlock back in the day and it’s still on my ao3❤
Can't wait for you to watch the next season. The very next episode you're gonna watch is my favorite out of the entire show
Oh my gosh I never expected this! Don't think I've ever watched someone's reaction to this before! Man it's been years since I've seen this! Loved it way back then... I am _not_ looking up the year... I already feel old enough. Super excited to see what you think!!!
Right?! I feel like people dont react to Sherlock enough. It’s such a good series.
Not seeing anyone else mention it so:
The side-comment from Watson about the Earth revolving around the Sun is Watson taking a shot at Sherlock. Saying that the world doesn't revolve around him, as Sherlock can be very narcissistic at times. He's not implying that Sherlock doesn't know how the solar system works 😅
OMG YES!!! My favorite show of all time, can’t wait for you to experience this! The second series might be the best thing ever put on television.
@mud6992 you’re not my buddy, guy!
Absolutely love all of Sherlock, can't wait for you to watch them all and fiend for more like the rest of us.
Excited to see you watch this. Might be an idea to watch the first two series and end it there though. As with most things Moffat touches - they tend to get progressively more ridiculous and suffer as a result.
I actually like season 3 but 4 lost me.

Few fun things to know:

Season 2 episode 1 A Scandle in Belgravia is still my most favorite episode of TV all time. Make sure your streaming service doesn’t skip the intro.
'The Great Game' remains my favourite eps of the show. It's just loaded with great moments
Sherlok Holmes was my childhood 😍 I have read about 2/3 of the stories and I have yet to watch the series though thanks for the reaction
Wooo! I love this series. I’m so glad you’re checking it out.
So wiriting this comment I‘m only 16 minutes in where you just watched episode 1 and as an absolute Sherlock-Freak this video makes me so happy! I have barely any friends who like sherlock and seeing someone watch it for the first time just is so… idk it just makes me happy. If you haven’t already you should watch the unaired pilot (internet archive has it) as well, its kinda different from „a study in pink“ but so cute
you doing a sherlock reaction is everything I ever needed
Just a little FYI on the character. In the novels and short stories Sherlock is a detective in Victorian London. This show is a modern retelling of some of those stories. The episode titles are a variation of the story titles in the book. The first novel is "A Study in Scarlet" while the name of Ep 1 is "A Study in Pink" . Several episodes are like that with the book's title and general plot. The way he and Watson meet is almost the same as it happens in the novel
There are many adaptations of Sherlock Holmes with Jeremy Brett's version (1984-1994) being the most faithful to the books.
Can't wait to see your reactions to what's coming.
wow this is a nostalgic one!!! i'm so happy you've started watching it!
I'm so happy that someone is finally reacting to this fantastic series, thank you so much! 💙
Great choice. Once you finish this try watching the first two episodes of “elementary” just as a great comparison to how the characters of Sherlock Holmes and Watson are changed from show to show. Many have played the two over the last 100 years.
I loved the books and this is the best adaptation i ever saw. Cumberbatch and Freeman are a dreamteam.
I love your reaction!
Not to add to the cliffhanger, but next is one of the best pieces of TV ever.
I am so happy you're doing Sherlock! It allows me to rewatch the series fresh, vicariously through your eyes!
Yes, more of this please. Also since you mentioned it, Doctor Who from 2005 onwards is a fantastic show overall. Highly recommended.
There have been many combinations of Holmes and Watson but this is the best. Thanks for the reaction.
What a great surprise for a tv show. Not many if anyone commentaries on Sherlock. Love both actors and episode 4 just gets even better!
