Tuomas Holopainen: One of the most underestimated artists of our time. This man is a genius. Not only are his music and lyrics brilliant, he always finds someone whose voice can convey these emotions 🤘

Her high belt is astonishing. The thing not often mentioned is that each musician here has as much control of their instrument as Floor has over hers.
Tuomas the boy. We talk about Tuomas being an empath inside and much of his music he writes about his feelings, Tuomas is a poet and his music along with the dramatic theatrical music and the heaviness of the band is what makes Nightwish what it is.

One of my favorites from Nightwish and Floor.
This is a very emotional and personal song for Tuomas. The small child's voice represents Tuomas inner child speaking.
When asked what this song was about "Tuomas has said about this song, that it's about if he were to die tomorrow, what would he want to say to everyone that he loves, and that love him..."
Notice the small boy on the screen reaching out to the flying swans on the screen. He is reaching out to implore them to take him with to the other side.
In archaeological excavations done in Karelia, a child was found and its body was laying upon a wing of a swan. In Finnish mythology and folklore, the swan was the divine messenger between the living and the dead. When a swan dropped its head below the surface, people of old times believed that it was communicating to the spirit world.
Killing swans was a terrible crime because it was as bad as murdering a human. Punishments for killing swans were severe, the usual penalty was death.
Swan song often symbolizes an artist´s last performance but for a long time all across the world all the way to the 17th century it was believed that swans only sang when they died.
A beautiful song filled with sadness from an unfulfilled destiny.

Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboardist, wrote about 95% of the songs for Nightwish. Dead Boy's Poem is one of the most personal of those. So indeed, you can know him in the music.
This is the story of Nightwish. It gets me every time. A lonely boy meets a girl, starts a band, ends up having to fire her. Still he lives for the music, and grows to be a better man.

Masterpiece is an oft used word but there are a number of Nightwish compositions that deserve that title; Dead Boys Poem being one of them containing all of the trademark Nightwish transitions and multi layering. Buenos Aires 2018 live where Floor breathed new life in to a number of Nightwish classics that pre-date her time with the band and made them her own. The whole show is phenomenal. Nightwish live is the Gold Standard. Thank you. 🙏😊👍❤️

The person who is meant is Toumos Holopainen. It is his live, his way of thinking - and he wrote the song as most....

I see a lot of autobiographic stuff within the lyrics. That boy's dead, because he became a man? He may be connected to Tuomas' inner child somehow...but more interesting, who could have been the one (girl?), he wished to have no longer feelings for...at the time that song was written?
he uses that a lot. Dead boy is him, he means his childhood, very very happy childhood he had, he said he would love to go back in time, but can't, therefore the boy (innocence) is dead. The same refference is meadows of heaven. There is a picture of Tuomas surrounded by flowers - at a medow by his house, so another nod to his happy childhood. As for the girl, who knows, some said Tarja, I think he would use different words for her, just some girl fans will never know. Also he said he wrote it in a way that people would find themselves, so the girl probably knows 😁

I read that it is about the child Tuomas. A kind of autobiographic of his past being. I believe it was written in a time when hè was depressed shortly after the break with Tarja who hè had known since his childhood.
