  • After 23 years of visiting Thailand, today i finally made it to the Grand Palace, former residence of the Thai Kings and home of the Emerald Buddha.
    The obvious way to get to The Grand Palace is by taxi but if you want to avoid being stuck in Bangkok traffic and would like to be a little more adventurous the catch a train on the BTS SIlom line to Saphan Taksin station, from here follow the signs to the Chao Phraya tourist boat, look for the lady holding the sign that says "Orange Flag" and she will point you in the right direction. Once you are on the express boat, get off at Tha Chang pier, from here it is only a short walk to the entrance of The Grand Palace.

    There is a dress code that is strictly enforced. For males, no shorts and no singlets. Females must wear a dress below the knees and no bare shoulders.
    Opening hours of The Grand Palace are 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
    The entrance fee for The Grand palace is 500 Baht.
    The Grand Palace was built in 1782 and for 150 years was the home of Thai Kings. The Thai Royal family has not lived here since 1925, however it is still used for Royal celebrations and Royal ceremonies. On this day there was a Royal ceremony and visitors were not admitted entrance after 12:00 PM.
    The main attraction at The Grand Palace for me was Wat Phra Kaew, The Temple of the Emerald Buddha. No video or photos are permitted inside Wat Phra Kaew.
    On my way home i visited a friend who lives in Bangkok, before eating Japanese Restaurant named Wagyu Yakiniku Marukya Ito which is located on Sukhumvit Soi 23. I have always wanted to try Japanese Wagyu and this was the perfect time to do so. "Wagyu" is a famous breed of cattle from Japan, famous for it's marbling. The word "Yakiniku" refers to Japanese BBQ. I did not have 1 piece of steak, instead i tried 6 different cuts of Wagyu, including Wagyu tongue. The beef i ate here was some of the best i have tasted. For my side dish i ordered "Kimchi", a Korean dish of salted and fermented vegetables.

    This is your best video so far. Some times living in Thailand’s can make you go a bit crazy. We normally know what that is, but when your hit with some thing spiritual, it kind of brings balance

    Wow! Amazing video love the nod to spirituality - the way you shot it too was great with all the palace detail. 10/10 on my scale 😀

    Thailand is a right wing conservative culture unlike Australia which is a far leftist culture. So if you ever voted for a leftist politician then you voted against the thing that you are in love with in Thailand. So you actually are what is wrong with in your own country.

    • @skillfuldabest
      @skillfuldabest 4 года назад

      I gave you a like but Thailand is definitely not that right wing if you get into the nuance. What kind of right wing culture tolerates the LGBTQ movement and the sex industry?!?!?
      Vietnam is more culturally conservative than Thailand. Thailand is like the #1 country in the world for cheating spouses and Vietnam has the lowest divorce rate in the world and teaches children in school that homosexuality is a disease. Vietnam has become much more desirable than Thailand.

    • @EternallyGod
      @EternallyGod 4 года назад

      @@skillfuldabest LGBTQ isnt a movement in thailand....with the religion everyone is tolerated....do you understand? Men are still men no matter what they do to themselves....they are treated in society as lessers but everyone is tolerated.

    5 Star video all around. Being a part-time resident/frequent visitor to Thailand I could relate to the feelings you had in the Grand Palace. Wat Po (and Doi Suthep up in CM) bring that out too. Then the wagyu restaurant was drool-worthy. I'd have to float a loan from relatives back home to go there more than a couple times a month though. #KeepEmRollin
