I didn't even know about the volcanic eruption! I donated some money, I can only hope it helps someone. Especially when there's a natural disaster on I know probably more than half the cost of what I donated will go into the cost of just shipping stuff there. I was told a story while I was in the island of Niue about what Cook called them. They told me that they were called savage island, since they’d painted their faces with red flowers to look like blood when they saw his ship, and it made him think they were cannibals. (However, they also told me that they never practiced cannibalism) but it gave cook a reason to give them the title of savage island, when Tonga had actually practiced cannibalism in the past. (According to Niueans.)

But what they did not know was that there was already a plan in place to kill all of them before day light, strip their ships of iron, supplies and valuable goods, then scuttle the ships out in the deep, the plan was formed before James Cook and his men even landed on shore

Tonga is not the last remaining monarchy in Polynesia. Tuvalu and New Zealand are both monarchies, and in the French colony of Wallis and Futuna there are three Kingdoms, Uvea, Sigave and Alo. Also, Tonga is pronounced TONG-A.

If by monarch, you mean that both Tuvalu and New Zealand are under British rule via Queen Elizabeth II. Tonga has their own king/queen who govern their affairs and not some foreign entity which is why they are considered the last sovereign monarchy in Polynesia. Wallis and Futuna don’t count as sovereign either since they are under French rule and not their own.

The pronunciation of Tonga is To-nga (toh-ngah). Tong-a is incorrect.

"...tucked away towards the bottom of our planet."? It's only around 20degrees south, in the tropics. Remember that we can equally say that Europe is tucked quite a way towards the bottom of our planet!

Yes but Polynesia has mostly water below it until Antarctica. The northern hemisphere has much more land and seems more solid. There is no top or bottom of the planet literally BTW.

I like your videos, but... were you tired when you voiced over this one? Because that's how you sound. You know what you are sayong because you are the one saying it. Believe me, it's difficult to understand sometimes.
