I love this!! I grew up in OKC and my best friend in elementary school was Vietnamese, so I have the experience of being adopted into a big, loud, joyful Okie/Vietnamese family - it's really wonderful!

this was by far my fave mulaney interview. i was born & raised in western arkansas (on the oklahoma border). i grew up with many, many, many vietnamese friends, as their parents were refugees to the area. i'm here to tell ya, they are the sweetest people you'd ever wanna meet but they are *_DIRECT_*. i cackled all through john's re-telling of family convos, cuz it was spot-on. 🤣

Haven't been to one in a while since my current neighborhood doesn't have one nearby, but it used to be one of my favorite Korean markets back in college. I'll gladly spend a hundred bucks there and stock up on yummy snacks, fresh produce, and prepared banchans over spending it somewhere like a Whole Foods. Sounds like they've branched out to other Asian items as well. Wish they delivered to my area 🥲
These were dangerous topics to offer up for laughter…and done so lovingly and from a joyful place of mischief that this was FUNNY and entertaining. A good window onto the in laws too
I always pay attention to the non verbals when people talk (including the intensely positive emotions felt by others [which I, myself can/do feel])...as humour which comes from a place of LOVE is so healing and non maliscious, whereas "humour" from a place of HATRED is designed to inflict pain. Someone as intelligent as these two men could eviscerate anyone (should they choose to) but their inherent kindness shines through instead. Such humour brings people TOGETHER and forges CLOSENESS as opposed to causing....dissention.
😏 John has filled out a lot since his "Emily Dickinson meets Henry David Thoreau" special. Now I think he looks a bit like Clark Kent because of his fabulous head of hair.
As a Vietnamese American born and raised in Southern California Little Saigon area, it so refreshing to listen to this. Our culture isnt as prominant and out there. I didnt even realized their are Vietnamese in Oklahoma. Im glad Olivia Munn finally found someone who have a sense of humor and open minded like John
