  • Today we talk bump stops, and in particular, DuroBumps on the 4th gen 4runner. After running Durobumps on the front for a few weeks, I realized they were a no brainer for my 2007 4Runner and definitely needed on the rear.
When lifting your vehicle, it’s easy to just rush into a set of springs and shocks, but without considering your ride height, loaded weight, and tons of other factors, it can be easy to forget to upgrade supporting components.

isn't the purpose of a lift is to get more travel though? why would I want to get my travel back to stock using bump stops after a suspension lift?

To limit uptravel - you don’t want to put your tires through your fenders for too much strain on your shocks.

I get the importance of bump stock and want to invest in them but I'm having a hard time finding out of these "premium" bump stops are worth the money over something I can get at your local chain auto shop for less than $50...?
I also just drive a stock 4th gen.

That’s a really great question! In my opinion, it all comes down to what you need it for. If you have a stock rig, and find yourself just doing the ordinary daily driving, I’m sure a stock bumpstop or something similar will do the truck. Once you start towing/off-roading, or carrying a lot of weight, the extended and premium bump-stops definitely show their worth.

I was able to install these without jacking the car or removing tires yesterday. I used perry parts bumps. If they don't turn out well I'll get the duro bumps, but they do have a one year warranty.
These bumps are much longer than stock. But I still seem to have a out 4 inches between the bump stop and the diff/axle . Is that normal or should I ask for longer ones?
It looks like I have a similar suspension to yours, remote resoirvor fox 2.0 with medium OME springs

I personally got extended ones as I have about a 2.5” lift in the back. I wanted a little bit more coverage. I also have fox 2.0 RR in the rear. I love them! I can for sure stand by the Durobumps, but at the end of the day, if it stops the suspension from travelling too much and does the trick, you have what you need.

How'd the Perry end up working out?

@@Lost_in_a_Lexus Well I haven't had a chance to really go off road until the summer. But they do feel nice. I feel like this is one of those parts that you really don't need to spend a lot on.
I have yet to hear of any going out. I feel like they are coasters. Even if you get a cheap one, it will be very difficult to break it or wear it out early even if you constantly use a heavy cup...
