I can plug the little glass solar panel it used directly into the power jack of my Sangean PR-D4W and power it during the day. It`s a perfect match. I think they stopped making them but I got three while I could as hurricane radios and 18650 battery chargers. They have two great built-in lights and came with three plug in bulbs, Bluetooth speaker, phone charger, and AM/FM/Shortwave. The four 18650 batteries are in parallel so even one can power it or be charged with the nice solar panel.

    “One hander” operations have been common here in Australia for commercial VHF/UHF for a long time.
    There are definite advantages to them, but there’s a couple of big DISADVANTAGES as well. If you stretch the mic cord or damage it, you essentially lose the entire radio….until you get a replacement and, unlike a “regular” CB, having a spare mic OR sourcing one from any old outlet ain’t as easy as they are not nor ever will be as common.
    Other than that, the concept is very sound.

    • @FarpointFarms

      @@FarpointFarms absolutely, mate. In my Kenworth T 909 I have a complete Amateur station as well as both 27 MHz and our UHFCB (equivalent to you GRMS or whatever it is).
      I cover EVERY band for Hams from 80 Metres through to 70 Cms inclusive and just about all my “ham” gear is remoted…… a TS480 HX and a Yaesu FT8800r being the predominant radios. Remotes are great, but 1 handers do have that issue, whereas remote able STILL have a small, easily mounted operational head…..a better option in my view.
      Sadly, not many CB manufacturers market suchlike. ……cost, I guess!

What is CTCSS and DCS. VOX I would imagine has to so with noise input and How does RF gain work, I think it increases the range but if thats the case why not have it aet to the max all the time? Time out timer and rx noise reduction are for what? I had it working clearly and then i screwed up and messed with the settings trying to get better reception. It would be awesome if you could make like an introductory video of how you set it up and got it to work.

    I looked at the manuals for this radio, and it’s twin, the Anytone Graces, and both of them state that if an external speaker is used then it needs to be 16 ohms. I’ve never seen a 16 ohm speaker for two way radios. 8 ohms seems to be standard, and occasionally I see a 4 ohm speaker. The kind of install I plan to do is going to have the radio body mounted below the seat where the built in speaker won’t be heard easily. I understand the mic itself also has one. Do you think it is loud enough alone? Otherwise it looks like I’m going to have to build a speaker of the proper ohm load or else take a chance on an 8 ohm speaker.

    • @FarpointFarms
      @FarpointFarms  Год назад

      I hadn't heard that, but I can confirm that I've had no issues with a 8 ohm speaker that I had laying around here on it.

    • @duanebledsoe7566
      @duanebledsoe7566 Год назад

      @@FarpointFarms that’s good to know. Coming from a car audio background I understand the importance of matching amps to impedance, but I also know you can get away with certain things too. In this case using an 8 ohm speaker over a 16 ohm speaker would greatly increase the volume and power output coming from the radio into the speaker. Turning volume down solves both problems.

      CB radio and GMRS are two very different radios one is at 27 Mhz and the other is at 462 and 467 mhz, so they CANNOT talk to each other directly.....even though they have the same channel numbers, the frequencies are very far apart!!!! apples and oranges...

      @@FarpointFarms As I just learned, on the Radioddity CS-47, if you move the pin jumper inside from pins 1-2 to 2-3, it opens the radio up to "A" band channels, while also doubling the output watts.. of course you don't want to leave there as it's not "fcc approved" as it were....It's actually designed like this.
      So you could be on am channel 19 that's what it'll show on the, then you push the up button to go to channel 20 but you don't you go to channel 19 A, which is just a little higher in frequency than regular channel 19, and a little "a" now is at the bottom of the 9.
      It's quite an impressive little radio I bought it because of your review.

    The comment has been made you don't make friends on GMRS. You bring your friends with you. FM CB will be the same way. Several of your bubbies buy FM CBs and have a talk around when driving walking or put a base in the house and have a neighborhood chat around. I'm not sure in modern times we are willing to expose ourselves that much to a group. CB/Gmrs/FRS should be popular in the hood and I don't see that.
