      if your radio is already expanded the menu option doesn't appear. do you have t0 or t5 displayed on screen when turning on? you could do a reset AL which would undo the expansion and revert to standard.

      Hi @MowerJunkie, maybe its a sensitivity in the US with President and the FCC. I am based near the UK and have reviewed many President radios and have around 20 in my collection. President have never contacted me or offered to send units for review unlike other manufactures. The EU CB models have full export mode functionality built in, but as far as I am aware the FCC models / variants have to remove this before they get approved. It's likely that as the HAM 10-Meter radios are sold in both locations and are the same units there could be some issues where President might then have to offer two different models if the regulator kicked off about it. I am just guessing as to why they would have contacted you and asked for you to remove your video. Thanks for watching and commenting. I have subscribed to your channel. All the best MJ7NLK

    To Expand the radio, we have to make the bridge, and put the jumper from 1-2 to 2-3 ! (Gorge 2) What happens if only the jumper was moved and the bridge will not be made ??
    I thought about buying the Gorge 2 but now i´m happy to have seen this video because the Expanding Modifications can be made by the menu. Because my technical and handcrafting skills are comparable to those of a Squirrel ! But a selection of a menu is no problem i think. And when i search here in the German CB-Radio shops. The difference between George 2 and Washington is about 15-20 Euro. And the fans are 8,90 euro each ! The Washington is it. Decision made !

    • @NLKMediaGroup
      @NLKMediaGroup  8 дней назад

      The Washington needs to have the internal modification made in order to get the menu option. The radio I was sent had the modification made on the underside of the board which I didn't notice when recording the video. So you need to do both in order to expand. The Washington is a lovely radio and I hope your getting lots of enjoyment using it. All the best and thanks for commenting. MJ7NLK

    the screwholes on the heatsink to mount fans is very good and it's GREAT that the engineers have put sockets in the radio to connect the fan electricly. how warms does the final transistor get when transmitting at max TX pwr for 10 hours at 20°C room temperature ?

    • @NLKMediaGroup
      @NLKMediaGroup  2 месяца назад +1

      It's good to have the option to add fans and they do work well. I had to set the temp protection to 35 degrees and key up for a while to get them to kick in and my studio is kept at 22 degrees with AC. I haven't tried TX'ing for 10 hours on the radio :-) You won't have any issues with both fans fitted and setting the temp protection to 50 degrees. The fans will cut in when needed to reduce the temp. I didn't see any crazy high temps while undertaking the power tests on the radio so the heat is managed well. Hope this helps. MJ7NLK

    I would love to put one up. On the old US analog remote aircraft band, Just above the US cb band. In the menu the re "relay" function is the repeater function. Which works only in FM. I think when you add the jumper wire bridging the solder points it gives full repeater operation to the radio. It also has a hidden record retransmit function for contesting. With the solder points bridged together.

    • @NLKMediaGroup
      @NLKMediaGroup  8 дней назад

    Absolutely love your reviews! And Freds lol I just want the QT-80 and I hope they will be offering a bundle sale soon. It would be a great Christmas present to myself lol. I have the QT-40 and I love it. Of course its been modified to the max and it does 60watts FM 40w AM and 80w SSB and is capable of doing 80w on FM and AM but it gets to hot so I'm just guessing that the QT-80 would be capable of 100+ if adjusted right. I know that the Washington will do around 115+watts "modded"

      Thank you for watching and your feedback is greatly appreciated. The heat-sink on the back of the QT80 is substantial and does a great job of keeping the temps under control. It sounds like the QT80 is a great fit on your upgrade path. There is supposed to be a new CRT SS9900 coming very soon which I am expecting to be the same radio as the QT80. Will be interesting to see if there are any differences. Hopefully Radioddity will have a bundle deal at some point closer to Christmas. 73 MJ7NLK

    glad you got the fans at long last glad they were worth the wait but it seems most radios can go 11,12,10 meters so how can be legal in UK I know you go into menu's but it that hard to do I'm not radio ham operator myself but I can figure some radios out cheers loving the videos also watch Fred in the Shed 73s

    • @NLKMediaGroup
      @NLKMediaGroup  Месяц назад +1

      The Washington is type approved for the 10 meter band and if you transmit on those frequencies you are required to have a ham license to do so legally in the UK and most places. Anyone can listen, you don't need a license for that. If you expand the Washington to cover the 11 meter band its not type approved for that band but ignoring that detail, you still need to remain within the law / rules of 4 watts maximum / 12 watts PEP. Pumping 50 watts on 11 meters would be illegal regardless of the license you hold. If your ham license band plan covers 10 and 12 meter frequencies and you remain within your license parameters then your ok but always check your licenses and ensure your operating within the defined parameters.
      The fans took ages to arrive, I had almost given up hope of them ever arriving. All the best and thanks for watching. 73 MJ7NLK
