- Опубликовано: 17 окт 2024
- I just picked up this original 1 family owned 1971 Chevy C10 Truck. It was last run in 1999 and I was told that the 350 engine is siezed. Lets see if it will run in time for SEMA! Plus, an update on the Chicken Truck

He almost made”140,000 maintenance-free miles” sound like a great feature. Awesome salesmanship!😊
Never to early to start practicing the used car sales routine for this one! Haha
Smart move on the '71. I think it is a philosophy many backyard mechanics need to follow. I appreciate that you pull the curtain back on how custom car sales and markets work.. Thanks for another great episode.
Thanks! Please use this enormous donation for the 71 seat. I really love bench seats.
I love bench seats too! Thanks so much for the donation, I'll put it into the bench seat rescue fund!
Enjoyed the 3rd person commentary
Red Green is your Daddy ❤
Myself and the other Kyles are glad you enjoyed it!
6:21 LOL. "Notice his cat like reflexes as he jumps back like a coward.". So funny! Canadian humor is my life!!
Haha I'm glad you got a laugh!
I have a tiny youtube channel and I lose money on every video I make so I understand how hard it is for you to even cover your costs. Some people make money from youtube but I think the majority do not. Rebuilding a truck that can be sold seems a very sensible way to go.
What's your channel name
What is your channel name so I can take a look?
Great stuff Kyle! Keep them dollars comin' people! This man has to feed his cats.
Haha! Thanks so much Travis!
Kyle, your ace-in-the-hole is your metal magic--its something 99% of us can't do. You can do magic and its not super expensive--its the talent that's expensive. You already have that.
Glad those old homeless and unloved rusty Cheyy pickup trucks follow you home. Like a dog pound saving them and re homing them to other loving homes after they heal some under your care. Great job Kyle on saving ever one you can and make some money. do not want to see you loose your shop.
67-72 all the way. That C10 is a winner....lets see more of that!
I personally like the 67 Chevy trucks because that was the year I was born and that's what my first ride was in from the hospital. Lol
I must say, that was one of the most enthusiastic reactions to one of my videos I have ever seen. As far as the quality of modern gasoline.... I'm afraid my home state probably has more to do with crappy gas than your beloved Canada. Making crap gas out of corn is part of our "no farmer left behind" program. I guess what I'm saying is... sorry. And one last thing.. I am very disappointed that you didn't take advantage of the old man with the truck. Underhandedness and complete disregard of your fellow man is why I started watching your channel. Cheers from the shed
I should have known it was all an Iowa plot. Saving humanity by turning food into fuel actually makes a lot of sense if you don't think about it. Also, don't worry, I'll just find some other old person to take advantage of!
Randahl: Kyle has walked in those shoes when a fellow Canadian You Tuber took advantage of him on the purchase of a vintage GMC truck. It speaks volumes of Kyle's moral fiber!😉
Ah yes... I forgot about that.😄@@glennnickerson8438
@@glennnickerson8438
Moral Fiber.
A good name for a breakfast cereal. ;)
I enjoyed the 3rd person dialogue, it works well. 😂
Haha thanks!
I wish we could find old cars and trucks here in Ontario that were in as good a condition as you get in Saskatchewan. I had a 72 Chev C20 with 350, 4 speed, and I wish it was even close to the good condition your C10 is in. They were great trucks and real work horses.
Sparking like a surfer dude during winter
No mice were harmed in the making of this awesome video
Good buy on the 71. I know you have to be careful with the chicken truck but Don't sell yourself short. You know what your doing and people know that. I have been subscribed for atleast one of those two years and have gone back and watched the rest. So good luck with the chicken project, believe in yourself.
Thanks for the kind words and for watching this stuff!
Good to see the chicken truck make it inside the garage, Looks like a mega challenge that I think you can conquer
It definitely will be a challenge haha
Can’t wait for the chicken truck! 😊
New Chicken Truck video out tomorrow!
Build it they will come and watch 😅👍👍🤩👍
I have a difficult time watching videos on Wednesday’s because I only have so much time and Scott sucked me in - I’ll do my best
Bring on the chicken truck , not many videos showing how to hands on . Thanks Kyle very entertaining
Coming soon! Thanks for watching!
The fire really helps with the algorithm. Also the cats.
The new truck came with the factory rally wheels, so that has to be worth a few extra dollars. I think the truck is well worth fixing up, like you say that edition of truck is hot right now.
Yeah the original ralley wheels are a neat option!
Don't count yourself short on a buyer ,it's cool someone will fall in love with it!
Work on what ever you want, I'll be here to watch. 👍
Thanks, I appreciate that!
That's a pretty nice find , I'm sure you would have the metal work done in no time .Maybe the seller would trade the license plate for the tail gate , if for sentimental reasons .
Maybe, but I won't pester him. The tailgate was bent anyway so it's not a huge loss
I like square body’s.
Clean n simple design.
Grew up with em as new trucks.
'71 C20 was the first licensed vehicle I drove. I was 7 yrs old and too small to throw wet 70 pound hay bales, so I got to drive. I have a lot of sentiment for those things. It was a great farm truck and hauled our stuff to college 10 yrs later.
Right on, thanks for sharing!
Hello from B.C., Kyle: I must say this is from one of my favourite eras of trucks.Hard to believe now, but this was brand new when I was in high school! Also, really looking forward to the Chicken Truck project.I think that somewhere in the great beyond, George Barris is smiling down on you.
Hi Gregory! Thanks for following along! It would be neat to have the approval of George Barris!
Hi Kyle.
I guess the strike is over since the cats are back.
I assume you caved in to their demands for your own safety.
The reaction to Shed By The Tracks videos by Poe was great. Maybe that could be a recurring segment since it would require very little editing effort. ;)
You may be surprised at what you could be offered for a custom project IF you decide to sell it after it's completed. You are getting quite famous, after all. Or is that infamous?
Sorry you got the white stuff and cold temps :(
Have a good week.
Hi Joe!
I actually would be surprised if I was offered anything for the custom project when I'm finished with it. I tried selling the 66 C10 on RUclips and even with it being priced well below market value I had zero inquiries. (Other than the misguided fellow who wanted to drive it 2500 miles home with a bad engine). Good news is that I was able to sell the truck locally using conventional methods.
Hope you have a great week too!
As owner of a '69 CST/10, I approve of your new purchase! Mine has been in the family for 54 years and has suffered a lot of hackage over the years. Dad was the culprit, so most of it is going to stay... I will enjoy watching whatever project you are working on...
That's awesome and I think you made the right choice to preserve your dads work!
This would be a good project to watch. I dont miss the chicken truck.
Keep on keepin on with the patch n flip, because even though you are showing us how to do it, you have the skills to do what is the hardest part of the project for most people…and most people are going to be willing to pay to have that part done. Then do the longer term custom things the way you want to, without worrying about what they are worth or how many views they get. Do what you enjoy, and I am guessing that the success will follow. Very impressive…
Oh yeah I'll continue with the patch n flip, but I enjoy building customs just as much!
Those are some nice tunes you playing while vacuuming the inside of the 71 truck
'abandoned, seized engine, will it run' the trifecta for RUclips!
Not to mention the really great bodywork you do, and the metal's behavior and characteristics explained as you work it.😁
👍🇺🇸😎
Haha thanks John!
What a sweet C10. Love the 69' - 72' body styles. Nice score!
Thanks!
My dad's only new car was that truck, a 69 GMC of a slightly brighter green. I learned to drive on that truck and drove it for a year. I cleaned and adjusted the points, adjusted the timing and basically, learned about cars with that truck. He put a cap on it and had a bed and mattress in it and we camped with it a few times.
That's awesome! Thanks for sharing!
I’m kinda diggin the old truck… I’d love to see you work your magic and get that old boy back on the road. Keep up the great work.
Yeah I'm looking forward to fixing it up a bit too!
Your skills are worth watching whether its building a custom or rebuilding a rust bucket back to stock
I’m one of those 1 or 2 people. So far the chicken truck looks awesome. If I had some money I get on the list to buy the final product. So I guess you need 1 or 2 people who also have money.
I too find it best trying to re-inflate dry rotted tires on a nice gravel surface, this approach provides much more shrapnel when the inevitable occurs.
A very helpful tip! Thanks!
I would watch you rebuild a biscuit tin...............but looking forward to you setting your jacket on fire while building/customising the "Chicken Truck" keep up the great work.
You can watch biscuit tin restorations on my other channel "Carter Biscuit Restyling"
Oh, I think the fumes got to you. I can smell them here 1200 miles due south! I think the previous owner did a good job matching the touch up paint to the cab door.
Don't switch it over to electronic ignition, just leave the. points in it. That way it will be EMP proof .....
That's the plan!
If I had a vote, I would vote to see you work on the 71 truck. Since I don't have a vote, I will just watch whatever you work on (71 truck), or the chicken truck.
We'll get to the 71 eventually, but for the moment it's full steam ahead on the Chicken Truck!
The '71 is one of those rare finds which....IF a person can swing it, is well worth purchasing.
I'm pretty sure I've commented on this before but..... I would rather buy something with 'honest rust' than some mudded, primered, 'OOOOoohhh....shiny, restoration'.... a LOT of 'imaginative sculpting' can be hiding under the shine.
I DO hope the 'Chicken Truck' project gets plenty of views over the next couple of months. I know I'll be watching (which I realize isn't really going to make a heck of a lot of difference)....but I'll watch every episode you share to see the progress.
Keep up the fine work Kyle!!!
Hi Russ, thanks for being one of my regular viewers. It does make a difference and I appreciate it!
I was just about to freak out about the chicken truck so thank you for the clip showing it is in the house!
New Chicken Truck video will be out tomorrow!
You've got it figured out Kyle . You tube takes time , your young in age only but as smart as someone older . Thanks for all you do ....
Thank you Don!
Great stuff !!! It was so nice of you to give Shed by the Tracks a boost with the cat's critique.
Always looking out for the gang over at Shed by the Tracks!
Hey Kyle, my Dad had several Chevy trucks but my favorite was his black 1970 C10 with the 307 and three on the tree. Loved that truck!:) not surprised it started and don't worry about that little lifter noise. It will probably go away with time. Here in Wisconsin our temps are already below freezing at night but at least no snow yet. I can't afford to heat my shop so I limit my work to above 10 degrees F. Most of the rust repair doesn't care about the temperature and the finish stuff waits till spring!😊 Fortunately the stuff I buy needs so much work I have plenty to keep me busy! My "new" 1965 F350 is a prime example. I'd put the better tires on the wheels from the 71 and put those on the GMC! I'm looking forward to seeing the repair where the RF fender is hard creased. I've got a similar repair and enjoy watching you struggle, I mean work!😅 Thanks
Hi John! I hope the snow holds off for you in Wisconsin!
Good find on the '71, my brother's father in law in Maine has a gold '70 that makes your truck look like it came from California. His goats have been "helping" with the rotten spots for decades. Super excited for the chicken truck! Cheers, from Cow Hampshire.
I love the 60-63 chevys with the double hump dash.
Me too!
That distributor has a ton of end play. That is going to make for a lot of funny running problems.
Yup I noticed that too haha
I love the 71. I’ve been on the lookout for one myself! ❤😎
I'm straight south of you in western South Dakota. I run nothing but premium non ethanol fuel in all my gas engines. I have no issues with it. All my small engines that sit all winter start with little to no issues in the spring.
Yeah, all our gas in Canada now has ethanol, including premium
I really like the factory color of the Chicken truck ! The baby blue , it would look nice if it were that color again..
I am excited about the chicken truck but I am at least as excited about the C10. If you just flip it for easy money, well its your call, but why not make it real tasty and drive it for a year or so? It should be made the way we ALL want it--5-spd, short box, not too pretty, like its a nice unmolested sweetie. If its SWB it will triple in value as you know. I'd love to see how you'd do it
The Chicken Truck is gonna get some views!
If I can find an original short box frame I'll make it a short box. A truck with a cut down frame doesn't add any value in my eyes
I blinked when you asked me to watch for spark so would you play it back and next time I will stare at it 😊
Will do!
Thanks for another , Brother !
Thanks for watchin!
I have to agree with you that the 60-66 trucks have the coolest look. At the same time my first truck was a 70 stepside so i do have a soft spot for the 67-72s.
That's a great first truck!
Like the way you repair the trucks and would be happy with the purchase of one of these so called flips because I would know that you fixed it the correct way. Great videos Kyle. make some money and keep videoing.
I would recommend a new distributor. Pretty sure that has more play in it than whats recommended. You can see it actually come up in video just turning over. Which would cause timing issues. Keep up the metal work though. You really know your stuff on body work
Haha yeah I noticed that too!
@@CarterAutoRestyling would never thought it could do that just turning over
Yeah!
Love your work ,you should be working on Duesenbergs, Cords , Pierce-Arrow And other high end Cars..
Kyle , we enjoy your vids and are looking forward to seeing the chicken truck develop. God Speed!
Thank you! Chicken Truck update is coming soon!
Really cool truck
Looking forward to the chicken truck and the 71. I drove a shortbed 70 to highschool. My dad bought it for $100 because it wouldn't run. Had plans to drop a crate motor in it but got to tinkering and discovered the plug wires were all connected wrong! Ran for years after that on the original engine.
Anyway, long story short, what I'm really trying to say is, your self deprecating humor and mannerisms remind of good old Red Green 😁.
"Keep your stick on the ice"
Haha that's awesome! Thanks for watching!
I am definitely looking forward to the chicken truck progress!
I would bet people that had one in the family a long time like that would be happy to see you take, even to flip, because they can know it'll get fixed right and probably serve someone else for another long time.
FYI, the RUclips algorithm knows that I watch your videos, so without fail it puts your new one on my screen every time. It even puts up old ones during the week, but nowadays I don't watch so many of those, since I have watched maybe half of them already. Re: the new C10, when you get going on it, I think it is, as you say, too much of a walk in the park for a guy like you. To be sporting about it, I think you should offer to fix it with both eyes closed and one hand tied behind your back. :)
Hahah I like the blindfolded challenge idea!
Just keep doing what you’re doing i’ve done a couple handfuls of vintage vehicles used to do rebuilders when I had a dealers license It’s nice to watch somebody else go through the rust buckets once in a while.
Got spark Kyle!
Thanks for letting me know!
Hey, the credits left off the special guest star for Allen. Maybe Poe was in there too? Well. otherwise, this is the best combination Action-Adventure/Comedy offering on the RUclipss. And definitely danceable. This viewer rates it a 10 with 5 stars.
The best part of it is it’s a el manual
I'm not much bothered what vehicle you are working on, I watch for the techniques you use. I certainly think that the '71 truck is worth saving, and you have all the skills to do the major works and make it a viable restoration project for someone who has less experience, facilities or equipment. Best wishes.
Thanks George! I appreciate you taking the time to watch the show!
Looking to more of the chicken truck, I will have to go back and watch your plans for it
Oh it's well worth a little work not really that bad hard to find those older trucks in that shape Like you said the ones that are around they want a fortune for them and are chopped or insanely bad shape .Anyway great video thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
The date code on the tires of my van I bought this summer say they’re from 1988. I drove it home 6 kms and none of them exploded. They are even still up after I parked the van and did nothing to it the last 4 months lol
Very cool when you had all three trucks lined up next to each other. I like them all but the 66 is my favourite. Thanks for the video!!!
My favorite is the mid 6o's. The GMC has a better looking grille
I agree! Thanks for watching!
My favourite chevy truck was the 1960...
This comment will bring on an avalanche of hate but I can't stand the looks of 67-72 Chevy truck. Not sure why BUT anything from 47-66...hell yes, I'm all over it. My first vehicle in 1979 was a 60 C10 short box Apache step side. I'd love to have another someday. I love the hood nostrils on the 60/61"s. I do currently have 3 Ford trucks though. A 51 F1, 52 F3 and a pretty sweet 70 F250. To be honest Kyle I enjoy watching you work your magic on pretty much anything...even a 71 C10. Till next Saturday, Cheers!
No hate here. Not everyone has to like the same thing!
That has to be the best looking factory glove box door I've ever seen in a 67-72. It's mint.
Keep making the videos you are so inspiring
Thank you, I will
Another trailer queen eh jeez , all it needs is Carters patented flipper shine juice and all will be well . Have the cats approved this ?
Great old Chevy truck. I used to drive one of those as a teenager. I'm glad to hear that you're not an EV fan either. I drive a diesel truck myself. so, i make up for the pollution that the EV drivers are not putting out. I like your videos and am learning from what you do. Have been binge watching since i subscribed. Its great to see someone that does body work right instead of just welding good metal over rust and hack it together.
Love the '71, the GMC versions are a bit nicer to me. Excellent and desirable truck to bring back around.
I don’t think your an idiot. I think you are a master body man. I would like to own that 71. I’m in mid US so it probably is to far for the price.
Thanks for the explanation about the truck. You do what you need to do and we will watch and learn from you and enjoy your antics.
That '71 is a Maritime cream puff with optional in floor air conditioning. It's not much worse than my 2011 Chevy UpyoursLander. Oh well I still couldn't afford it even if it was free.
I was thinking that if you metalwork the chicken truck and sell it as a roller you might possibly break even... I know you love it when other people tell you your business. 😁
I remember looking at a hand build '34 Ford at the Grand National Roadster Show. There was a little sign beside it that said 40 hours a week for 5 years. I talked to the builder; the truck was a commission. Now that's the way to fly. I love the chicken truck concept, but I can't see it reaching completion quickly or cheaply enough for RUclips. I hope you find a way to fund that mega project.
i just like watching you fix rusted stuff and getting dents to the point of the of they just need primer i hope your channel grows so you can put in a lot of time in on the chicken truck thank you for the videos they are a lot of work too
Thank you, I'm glad to hear you enjoy watching!
Considering the lines of the Fadeaway project . What about the tailgate from a '57 or so Nomad wagon . . . Little bit of a forward tilt , kinda match the body lines .
I'll probably build a rounded tailgate similar to a Nomad. I'd have to sell my house to afford a real nomad tailgate haha
I'm looking forward to seeing both trucks.
I'll be starting an additional channel in the spring of 73 C-20 . A couple years newer but very similar to your 71. It's a truck my Grandpa bought new and has been a part of my life since.
Keep the videos coming, you've got a lot of talent.
Nice! Good luck on the 73 rebuild!
Had a 69 C10, my first truck. Got it for the price of 2 calves
I never called it a "calf" truck though, I never even called it a "heifer" truck..... even though I had a few in there
So you better "frame off" that Chicken truck and make it look real nice
Make it Chick magnet
Sounds like a pretty good deal on your first truck!
cool, thamks for the video and the time
Thanks for watching!
Well another Alberta channel I have subscribed to. I have seen some of your videos before, then I saw you on "Cold War Motors. Your humour fit in with Scott's classic Canadian humour. I love self-deprecating humour. I don't really like channels that take themselves too seriously. I'm from Northwestern Alberta (Peace River). About an hour South of the town. 🤟🤓🤘
Thanks for tuning in! We definitely don't take ourselves too seriously around here!
I think you did great by purchasing the truck. Wgetting old vehicles back on the road is worth every effort. Thank you for keep on buying, fixing & selling old vehicles.
Good.job good show Nice truck 😄👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Love the 47-53 the best.! More chicken truck please!😂
More Chicken Truck coming soon!
