Restoring The Grill Bottom On A 1930's Car Or Truck
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 17 май 2022
- Hello again! In todays film we will be repairing the severely dented grill chin panel on a 1935 Chevy Master. These lower grill panels are often badly damaged on 1930's cars and trucks and tracking down a usable replacement can prove difficult, if not impossible. Fortunately, repairing a smashed up original can be achieved with basic tools. Also stay tuned to the end for a short documentary on cats playing golf.

The old chevy deserves alot of attention your the best in the business love your work.😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you!
The Master performs another metal miracle. Appreciate your time and effort to demonstrate your talent. Would watch any work on this lovely old car . Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
That was a master class in restoring a twisted piece of metal that I would have probably tossed as hopeless.
Thanks Michael!
Sht I didn't know Cats like golf !!! Awsum recovery on what use to be a bit of car body ! Wow 😉🙃😎 NZ
Take no notice of the grumpy ones, your content and techniques are old school, nothing wrong with that👍👍
Thanks!
I'd certainly enjoy seeing the mechanical work on that Chevy as much as the metal work. Anything to do with old cars is fascinating.
Glad to hear that! Ill try to keep everyone updated!
Yes on any mechanical work videos on the 35 or is it a 36 ??
Any way no better way to waste one's time then to learn how to fix a car you will never own lol
One of the best comedy channels on youtube. Well, I find it funny anyway. An excellent repair as a bonus.
Hey I'm glad you get a laugh out of this nonsense! Thanks for watching!
@@CarterAutoRestyling Great skills and I am from Yorkshire, so I like a dry sense of humour.
Who ever said that you are doing it wrong don't know what they are talking about, keep on doing what you do best.
Thanks, always more than one way to skin a cat!
Every day is a learning day. You help.
Thanks!
Best Bondo tutorial I have ever seen 🤭
Truly remarkable work. If I hadn’t seen this for myself then I wouldn’t have believed it possible.
Anything is possible if you're stubborn enough haha
You Are a True Craftsman and a Pleasure to Watch.
I Would Like to Clean and Organize Your Shop.
It is clean and organized!
You are doing great friend! Do not pay any attention to the people that think they know better. I appreciate all you are showing us you do, so we can learn and do it ourselves. Thank you.
Thanks!
Of course we want more on this lovely car. 👍🏴
Glad to hear that!
Some of the best videos on the internet.
I don't know about that, but thanks for watching!
Now that is some impressive shit Kyle. Worth the whole 42 minutes of undivided attention. Well done sir!
Thanks for watching the whole 42 minutes!!!
Love to see more of the Chevy... ❤❤❤
I'm impressed for sure, you saved a real mess, you should be proud
Well I think you do pretty good for not having a bunch of fancy tools and a big shop! Thanks for the video.
Kyle you did a great job on this 👍 I appreciate your skill and humor and I share your disdain for civilization as a whole 🤪 best to you brother, would love to see some more work on that Chevy sedan
@@tarstarkusz I would say it's been well and truly used like it was made for, it's good to see it has survived and is getting some love.
Thanks! Anyone with a disdain for civilization is always welcome around here!
Incredible craftsmanship as always. She’s gonna be sweet dropped with skirts.
Thanks! I can't wait to drop it a couple inches!
I have witnessed a miraculous metal manifestation from the most reverent Reverend Kyle. Praise be to the Holy Cow what a repair! PS It was fun watching your cats have a ball. As always I'm eternally grateful. Let us reflect. Now back to my holy smoke barbeque with the dented grill and my altar wine. Chin-chin! Brother Kelly
Thanks Kelly! Enjoy your dinged up BBQ and Altar wine!
@@CarterAutoRestyling Kyle for this episode in memory of your musical director I played The Concert for Bangladesh.
That looks great wow you never would know it was rebuilt you are great with metal
Thank you!
This is the second-best body filler video I've ever seen. Taco earned🌮
I was yelling “yes yes” when you started prepping for the lead! Awesome video!
I'd just wait for a good one to come up on eBay.
Not much to work with there...
Not how I would've done it.
I'd just make a new one.
If I had a Chevy.
And some steel.
And knew how to weld.
And had a welder...
Oh! I'd need a hammer, too.
Amazing transformation once again! Pay no attention to the nay-sayers!
Haha you are 100% correct on all counts.
At least you give us a basic idea of where to start we all have or own way that works for us. I probably wouldn't attempt it until you demonstrated it could be done thanks 👍
Thanks! I had nothing to lose other than my time so I had to give it a try
I totally would watch the budget paint job! And the nose piece came out so good especially after the lead! I really thought after it was all sanded after lead it looks so sharp! Thanks for sharing
Thanks!!!
Impressive, most impressive.
Metallurgy and molecules I love it, stress relieving was my specialty. Excellent as always, I agree with meeting civilization 100 %. Cheers.
Thanks! Always happy to hear from anyone with a dislike for civilization haha
"Fit poorly" Guess we will have to agree to disagree 🙂 WOW, kind of an amazing repair. It is great to see actual repair vs. panel swapping. Thanks for another A+ episode! You impress me everytime I watch you, thanks for taking us along!
Thanks very much for the kind words!
You should start a metal band. You have the talent.
I may, but I won't quit my day job haha
A tip i read on a forum , have wet news paper on the ground to trap all the lead shavings. When you have enough you melt it and make new lead rods. Saves some pennys that can be used to buy more future work.
Great tip! Thanks!
Great job Kyle, keep on sharing your videos, your work is absolutely amazing!
Thanks Tom!
Would love to see more work on this car. I enjoy your channel very much. Your very talented and an artist in metal working. When it was done , I said out loud, AMAZING. thanks
Thank you, I'd love to get back on this car when I've got time!
Never have I ever, enjoyed watching someone do something, that I will never ever do, so much. I think featuring the 35 Chev would make excellent channel content. (Keeping in mind that all my decisions have resulted in a channel with 18 subscribers) Personally I love that Chev and think it's perfect the way it is. But my standards are very low.. (and I know 18 people that will agree with that)
Set your sites low and you will rarely be disappointed.
And as one of the 18... your "poor decisions" provide an enjoyable amount of entertainment. :)
Always great to get input from a successful RUclips personality. I hope one day I too can have 18 subscribers!
Cool car. Art deco and underappreciated today.
Thanks, definitely an underappreciated car, but that's not always a bad thing
I think most those guys that criticize your work couldn't come close to doing the metal work you do. Feather fill, bondo I was thinking you're going to lead this lol. Anyway good job, good humor and my cat tried to join the golf game. I enjoy you working on this car!
Thanks Kenny! Glad to hear your cat enjoys golf too!
ABSOLUTELY GREAT VIDEO !!!
Perfect timing for my '37 Packard work.
Thanks Glen!
Def keen for you to show us more in this car! I have a 36 Dodge and love this era. Want to see the suspension etc you spoke of. Please bore us with more of this content 😜
36 Dodge's are a fantastic car! Thanks for watching!
Yes love to see you work on the car thanks 😊
omg, you're a miracle worker of sheet metal... great job -
Thanks!
You are great at what you do.Enjoy all your video's. Thank you
You know your repair is done wrong Kyle is WHEN I DO IT (bubblegum welds an an inch of mud)! You did an incredible job and you never fail to amaze! Thanks for letting us tag along!
Thanks for watching Glenn!
Nice “Bondo” work- my first video - didn’t see that lead coming . Very fine work.
Thanks for watching, Bondo is good stuff haha!
Another masterful display of metalworking! Really enjoy your videos and I am learning a great deal! Had no idea that with hammer and dolly work that such a smooth surface could be achieved! Great job!
Thanks for watching them! I'm glad you're finding this stuff helpful!
What a beautiful panel.
Thank you!
Love the fact that you use plenty of body filler.😝😎 keep up the great work.
Thanks, I try haha
Look forward to you getting back to this car.
Me too!
You fix stuff I would throw out. Time and skill VS money I guess. Great job.
Thank you for your video. You are a great teacher. I look forward to learning more from you. Best wishes
Thank you, I'm always glad to hear from anyone who finds these videos helpful
Great job, i drove a two door in high school keep showing your work please love it !
That's awesome! Thanks for watching!
That looks really good. You didn't have much to start with.
Such a cool car.
Thank you. I couldn't possibly make it worse haha
Amazing results from such a mangled piece. Keep sluggin pal
Thanks, will do!
Thanks for mentioning us grandpa’s I don’t think we get enough credit for our work 😂🤣😂take it easy mate 👍🏼🍺🇳🇿😎
You're welcome! I always enjoy watching what you grandpa's are up to haha.
To go from where you started to where you ended up... just wow. Nice work and some serious perseverance on that part!
Thank you, in the grand scheme of things it didn't take too long to repair this piece.
Excellent! magic hands. Thank you.
Thanks!
What excellent work you do
All cars are imperfect but that job was awesome (22) years body working here I have to say that's great talent bring the real steel back if possible takes time but worth it
Thanks! I appreciate the kind words!
That turned out awesome! Keep up the great work.
Thank you!
Wow that looks awesome,
That's a pretty amazing reclamation there !!! That piece looked like something that fell off and got run over a few times !! Heard about "Knee Action" suspension a few times as a kid but never had any experience with it so, yes, seeing how that old system worked would be kind "fun" !!!
Obviously, you are well aware how "strange" all of us who are willing to "dig up" a totally wasted piece of antique metal and spend a fortune as well as a lifetime making it look better than it EVER did in its entire history !!! We all have to admit, it's a sickness, putting it kindly, and/or an "addiction" putting it "not so kindly" !! ;o)
As an "ancient" California old car fan, I would favor a slightly "low front" rake, with the "big and little" whitewall tires ( ?? 2.5"), solid steel wheels, trim rings, and small caps. Chevy had some "kool" color combinations for the 49 and 50 Chevies. Mixing a couple of those colors between the basic body and the pin-striping/wheels always look great with the whitewalls, solid wheels, and trim rings.
Oh yeah, one definitely has to be broken in the head to mess with this old junk haha
Nice work. Like the lead work to finish it off. Mechanical and painting videos would be good too.
Thank you!
Dont worry about what they say. Everyone has there own way. I think you do some amazing metal work. Keep it going.
Thank you!
I like how you opted Lead over Bondo. Turned out Great! Would love to see you Prep & Paint it!
New to your channel. And have yet to disappoint. I love the craftsmanship. And all of the self hate. Remind me of myself. I got several old junkers. Mostly 50s gm. Thanks for what you do
Thanks, always glad to hear from anyone who appreciates the old junkers!
Looks like you handled it well for what you started with !! Nice work
Thanks!
I look forward to seeing your work. Keep going on the 35.
Thanks! I'll keep picking away at it.
@@CarterAutoRestyling I love your dry humor and whit. I personally wouldn’t listen to any of the armchair so-called keyboard warriors that want to pick apart your work. I doubt any of them could do more than spread a quarter inch of Bondo.
Magic!
Looks brilliant compared to how it began, I really wouldn't worry about negative comments.
Thank you!
Hey boss! Another fabulous job... Thanks for these detailed videos. Those trucks you bought should provide approximately 285 years of metalworking lessons for us! All the best to you and the cats from here...
Well at least I'll never have to resort to making videos on how to change a lightbulb in a Toyota or whatever the other successful channels do when they run out of content ideas haha.
@@CarterAutoRestyling Man, I can't wait to reach "mailing it in with the bulb change" levels of success!
Yes I would love to see you do more on this car, I have a 1938 Chevy
I'll try to keep everyone updated! 38's are great too!
Now I’m glad I didn’t toss my old crumbled parts! Keep it all coming except the cats!
Turned out awesome for what you started with.
Thanks!
Spectacular repair, as always!
Thanks!!!
Yea I want to see more . I like it. I want to see how to lower the front. I want to see you build the skirts.
Glad to hear that!
I like your choice of vehicles, I have a 35 Master 2 door sedan with no trunk. I built mine as a restorod with all late running gear and stock steel body panels. I also have a 75 Malibu 2 door which I bought new.
Love the 3rd gen Malibu's! That's awesome you kept yours all these years!
It would be great seeing the mechanical work too.
Nice Job , For the good you can get on RUclips there is always .........those darn people typing away and knowing nothing and always willing to bang away at the negative lol . Thanks for the videa.
Thanks for watching Bill!
You make it all look great ! Just keep making your vids! Thanks again for your work! THANKS JW
Thanks Jerry, I'll try to keep the videos coming!
I thought there for a time this was a chrome part so I was thinking this might be a good time for some chrome powder coating like I did on an old barber chair, but I think the close to matching blue is better. I love powder coating and do lots of car parts with it as long as it'll fit in my oven. As always you did some nice pro work. Thanks Bobby
Great work. And you lie when you say it’s not metal finished! Absolutely pro result.
Thanks Rick!
Good enough for me pal!!
Just had a thought if this metal working gig doesn't pan out noticed you're very articulate with your hands. Mabe a career in signing or hand puppet show. Great video Kyle
Haha I like the idea of a puppet show!
Great bit of metal work Kyle.👍
BEAUTY
Thank you!
I swear, I saw Kyle at age 3, reach into a garbage can and pull out a wadded up tinfoil hotdog wrapper, straighten it up and put it back on the roll. Cheers young metal master!
Thank you, although I was more into destroying things at the age of 3 haha
Your way worked. And that all that matters great video. Not everyone can take a part and put it back to original.
Thanks!!!
I have that 35 Master coupe and never knew it even supposed to have that piece....master job on the repair...the more on the 35 the better for me...always enjoy your content...
Thanks! Always great to hear from another '35 Master enthusiast!
Beautiful!
Thank you!!!
The quality of your work never ceases to amaze me. You are too humble about your abilities. What I would like to know though, is what TIG machine you're using. Make and model?
Miller Diversion 180
Excellent
Very nice repair on some metal that didn't look like it could be saved. You did it exactly the way that I would have, if I had the tools, and the skills. I do miss the musical interludes however. I would personally enjoy some Bachman Turner Overdrive (because I'm old). John
Thanks John! Can't go wrong with BTO
Amazing work
Thanks!
I was hearing Verdi's 'Anvil Chorus' and Sousa's 'Liberty Bell' at times followed by 'Entry of the Gladiators' by Julius Fucik. I've always wondered how early people discovered metal and how they figured out how to use it. People had a lot of extra time back then. Thank you for the info. and entertainment. Cheers!
. . .and what did they do for a soundtrack whilst metalworking?
@@That70sChannel Ooooo that's deep. :)
@@That70sChannel 😆
Sounds like I should hire you to be my new musical director! I figure if people a couple thousand years ago could discover metal and figure out how to make it into stuff then there's no reason why a twisted piece of pre stamped metal can't be straightened!
I got off RUclips for a while and unsubscribed from all other channels except yours. You take junk and work it into something of value and often beautiful. Your patience is rare.
Thanks Dennis! I appreciate you sticking around!
Wow you did an incredible job mate 👍🏻🇦🇺
Thank you!
That was amazing!
Thanks!!
Hey I'm with you as far as going out into public , and yeah dosent matter if you do it like somebody else as long as it works for you is all that matters , maybe the guy that's says you're not doing it right is not doing it right, I never tell another person he is not doing something right unless he is totally off base and then I might make a suggestion just to help him out but would tell him that is way I would do it but not that I was correct either just the way I would do it!
Great vids like always
