An absolutely Olympic gold medal waste of time... I totally approve! This show has finally sunk to my skill level. A pessimist would say it has a horrible rod knock and smokes like my mother and father on our family trip to the Grand Canyon... An optimist would say the knock has a good beat and it's easy to dance to... and the smoking is just the right amount for Canadian wilderness pest control. Cheers from a shed

On an old 265 gm v8 I bent a 3/8 rod, put it in the spark plug hole to hold the valves up and put some ford bonnet seals on the valve stems and luckily did not hurt the plug threads. GM oring valve seals are useless. ALso heard people snake a cotton rope into the sparkplug hole to hold valves in place to put umbrella/bonnet seals on. Takecare, good vid. Xcellent idea for that engine stand.

My first rebuild was a 79 jeep CJ7. The 258 was stuck and I was told it had a cracked block. Well I got it loose and running!:) The crack was a long hairline one on the distributor side. It seemed but slowly. There was so much blow by I couldn't keep the air filter element in it. There was no oil pressure at an idle and only about 20 when running hot. Drove it for ten years until I saved the money for the rebuild. I rebuilt it over the 22-23 winter and with everything it was about $2000.00 US. Machine work is not cheap here either. I watch you because I'm on a Budget as well. Keep up the great videos 😊

I finally found some batteries for my keyboard. Maybe the low compression in #5 is due to the missing valve spring the cats are playing with? These old chevys run forever for better or worse. I have owned my 53 3100 for 44 years. It was my work truck and only vehicle for 9 years and was driven from LA to northern Indiana and back 5 1/2 times pulling a trailer. I just pulled out the 235 and it worked fine. It's a later 235. I enjoy getting old engines running. I'm replacing it with a 1200 HP 6-71 blown nitrous I6 292. I wanted to stay old school like you so I'm running carbs. Mary and Joseph missed Allen and Poe. Thank you for your time.
