I wanted to recommend another book tube site to readers who enjoyThe Bookish Princess as I do. That site is A Readers Almanac with Celeste. Celeste is a seasoned reader and like our Bookish Princess often delves back into the world of vintage reads. Like so many I’m often looking to expand my TBR list and both these ladies give me so many. Wanted to recommend a book by Elizabeth Strout titled “ Olive Kitteridge”… an excellent read. Presently I’m reading “Jane Walsh Carlyle and her Victorian World” by Kathy Chamberlain. This is like stepping back into Jane Austen’s world.
We listened to the audio of The Long Winter last year, and I could just FEEL the cold and the desperation they were experiencing. Also, if you ever go to Laura and Almanzo's home in Missouri, the museum there has an incredible collection of artifacts, not the least of which is Pa's ACTUAL violin. I may or may not have shed a tear when I saw it. It was like seeing a book character come alive in front of you!
I can't wait for the livestream! I loved the one you did back in May. My sunflowers are sooo close to blooming! Hopefully they still have time! So many good books in August! I haven't read Linnets and Valerians in several years. I definitely want to return to that. My favorite August books are a tie between a nonfiction book called Rembrandt is in the Wind by Russ Ramsey and a novel written during WWII called Tea and Hot Bombs by Lorna Lewis.
I reread The Long Winter last January, and did a vlog about it on my channel. Such wonderful memories of reading all the Little House books when I was a schoolgirl! 😊 I also spoke this year about a book called The World of Laura Ingalls Wilder by Marta McDowell, all about the flora, fauna and natural landscapes of the places she lived. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on The Long Winter. Loving your videos! You always inspire me to read more! 😊
Thank you for sharing your summer reads! I've been reading a couple of the Susan Scarlet books. They are so charming and heartwarming. This week I'm reading Kidnapped by Robert Louis Stevenson. I'm looking forward to our Joan of Arc discussion tomorrow!
I’m working my way through a reread of all the Blandings books, and it’s funny how the plots never seem to get stale even though they’re always more or less the same! I love the quip Wodehouse put in his introduction to Summer Lightning, saying that in response to critics who complained that his last book featured all the same old Wodehouse characters under new names, in this one he put all the same old characters under the *same* names! 😂
I’m starting part 2 chapter 8 of Anna Karenina. I started reading the book but then I found a free audiobook on RUclips that had the text with it so you can read along with the narrator. I’m not sure I want to finish it since it seems like adulterers runs in the family.
I really like hearing your thoughts on your reading. I finished reading Anna Karenina back April and loved. I want to reread again at some point. This month I completed 3 longer works: 7. The Burning God by RF Kuang 8. Bag of Bones by Stephen King 9. The Sapphire Altar by David Dalglish I DNFed two books Grapes of Wrath and now A Fine Balance. Still reading John Adams and I decided to pick up The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoevsky. I have been wanting to read that for a while.
Wodehouse is so enjoyable. Just light-hearted hijinks. I'm building out a collection of those editions 😍 AK is a true classic. Not my favorite Tolstoy, but maybe I'm due a reread.
@BookishPrincess Could I ask which Kindle reader you use and if you're happy with it? My husband broke my Kindle 3, and now I'm looking at purchasing a new one. Thanks so much! Barbara
Wow!! Tudortember!! I have not heard of that. I am about 20.pages in to a Catherine Parr novel THE TAMING OF THE QUEEN. I want to read Young Bess next.
Susan Scarlett = Noel Streatfield ? 😄♥️ Leven’s storyline is so more compelling to me that Anna’s story. 😮😅 I’m REALLY hoping to come to the Joan of Arc Discussion- 🤞🏻💕☺️ looking forward to the livestream! ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Ahh I was getting confused, I will cut that bit out. I have always identified Susan Scarlett correctly in past videos, it's obviously been too long since I last read one. I knew it was a British author whose other works I've enjoyed, I just pulled the wrong name out of my mental hat, lol.
My library had Ballet Shoes 🩰!! Im so excited to read the series and to try to find a Susan Scarlett book as well. I don't know how the series slipped by me as a mom who bought all the classics for my children, including my daughter who took ballet 🩰 for 3 years 😅😅

My dad used to read The Little House series to me when I was a child

Nice reads 🎉🎉😮
So enjoyed your update. 😊
I’m looking forward to the livestream! ❤❤❤
I’m glad your Sunflowers are blooming.
It'll be so exciting to have a few blooms before fall! 🌻
@@BookishPrincess I’m growing sunflowers for the first time and it’s been exciting to see the bloom.

Have you read Farmer Boy? It's a wonderful book about Almanzo's childhood in upstate New York.
Yes, I love Farmer Boy, it might be my favorite of the Little House books! We've actually been to the family farm in New York.

Did you ever read a Court of Thorns and Roses?? It was highly recommended
You have inspired me to pick up PG Woodhouse and look for the St Joan of Arc book. Thank you!!!
That's great, hope you enjoy!

Those sound so fun, they'd be perfect for Tudortember!

@@BookishPrincess 😁♥️ it’s ok! I hesitated to even mention it. 😂♥️💕🥰 loved hearing your thoughts on these books!
