I almost did this with Kyo at point. I had to play like I did in SFEX against Bison and turtle until Rugal messed up. What I learned is Rugal is weak to crouching jabs, which allowed me to go into reckas and cancel into super. You have to wait for him to teleport and ends standing beside you. Also Kyo can recka through Rugal's shield. You just have to listen to the sound effect. A second after it ends attack.
He's actually really easy solo. Not really that hard because once you land a jump in when he throws out a Reppuken you can combo him (Last hit of combo doesn't need to combo. He just eats it) then when you get him in the corner he never blocks your special if you whiff a CrC or Stand C he gets put into blockstun where he doesn't know whether to block or take the hit. Repeat and you win.
It's not just about him regaining health because by the time you get to your anchor, you have enough bar to convert a normal into a 60% health combo. It would help but it needs more than just that.
It's interesting how KOF XV is Rock's first time encountering Rugal canonically. Poor Rock and Max had to deal with Rugal's stubborn AI from hell. At least Max and Rock didn't give up as they shouldn't. Tbh I'm sure Rock has at least few useful attacks against the boss challenge yes? Also I love Max's videos about Rock Howard. Very phenomenal and incredible especially well known about it. Glad I subscribed to him
To answer Max's question..The Unknown Move/A.K.A "Menacing Walk" goes on for about...9-10 seconds...and your only options really are to jump over him or use Heidern's Gae Bolg CLIMAX or Rugal's own Dread Fatal Wave CLIMAX as pretty much everything else..won't hurt him, Kukuri's CLIMAX will send him over the Rugal at the end but he it won't stop the attack..every other super or CLIMAX in the game is ignored pretty much and does like..no damage, and regular projectiles will just be reflected back at you until it's over. It's a pretty busted level 2 super that he doesn't have normally..which is sad..sure it'd be toned down for player character Rugal but it looks badass.
@@miroljesnjanin7567 huh..Gae Bolg is a jump grab too, while Dread Fatal Wave is a indirect contact grab. Seems to be stuff like that gets through it, so Gato's jumping grab super will get through too I think. Still not many moves get past this unnamed super to deal damage.
Rugal's Menacing Walk is not invincible but it does have infinite armor. Meaning only air grabs, command grab supers with enough invincibility or Rugal's climax Super (which breaks armor) can beat the Menacing Walk
Strategies to defeat omega rugal: menacing walk: jump away or above him. Violent Ray: bending down Vanishing Rush: blocking it or he is appearing in front of you a few distance away without hitting you. Then you attack him with physical attacks and desperate move. He will be vulnerable if he doesn't react fast while you standing behind of him after his attack. Genocide Cutter: attack him with projectile attacks.
The fact that I'm getting tilted just watching this boss fight even though I don't play the game is definitely a testament to how annoying this boss can be
Cant wait for the three boss team that will break players. I feel like they held back with Omega Rugal because they still have Geese on the way, and another boss character from past games. If this Rugal had better combos, insane input reading, and HP regen, it wouldn’t be as fun to play.
I'm hoping we're going to see the return of Krauser. Dude's been gone for a long time and now even Rugal doesn't Kaiser Wave except for his climax super.

True AI made with machine learning that keeps adapting and changing strategies could surpass humans but the one currently in the game is pretty rudimentary and can hardly be called AI. Worst of all they seemed to have regressed compared to the brutally aggressive AI in older games.

2002 UM is technically the hardest fo the wrong reasons that are different from 94 he does WAY too much damage and takes almost NO damage at all Difficulty wise my cousin says he is around 98, or original 2002, but that because he takes almost no damage, he ends up winning by time
Just now, I realized how much this O.Rugal's suit reminds me of Bison. The walk his shoulders and gauntlets,all he needs is a hat but I really like it.
You know Max, since you'll be going through the games to find the hardest Omega Rugal fight. Due to it not exactly being like your "Legacy" series and not the same as your "Boss Rage" series what if you titled the videos as "Boss Rush"? I feel it fits pretty well, and if successful enough maybe it too becomes it's own kind of series of videos you occasionally do.
Rock's EX Hard Edge (qcb A+C) probably goes over the Reppukens actually, since it does that vs all the other ground projectiles. They may have made Boss Rugal's an exception, but otherwise that's definitely useful in the matchup in general
Ex gcb does go through his Reppuken. You just have to time it as soon as he let's it out. You can beat him solo easy the corner because he won't block.
I managed it one character using King of Dinosaurs, mostly because I found spacing out heavy claw swipes so he's barely in range just causes his AI to give up and get hit by it more often than not.

This fight, with both characters doing Reppukens and none of them being the original Reppuken user (Geese) really makes it seem like Reppuken is SNK's version of Hadouken.
i like how peeps back then were complaining on how hard snk bosses are. now peeps are so unhappy on how easy rugal is hahahaha it does feel so wrong that a boss Rugal is not that hard to defeat. i still hear vanilla 2k2's kaiser wave even after almost two decades.
I am a KOF rookie but it took me more to beat this than 94's boss, under 6 hours total with all 3! This is just kaka to watch as I know how much I need to improve hahahaha. Love ya Max!

The biggest reason as to why this fight is so easy in comparison is because there's so many options for combos and increasing damage now that you can absolutely destroy his healtbar without much risk
Ah, solo-ing Omega Rugal. He was a painful experience back in KOF '98, judging from the number of players (in Malaysia's old arcades back in 1998) I once saw fall to him in their first rounds. The lucky ones would manage to beat him in their second or third rounds. To my knowledge, no Malaysian arcade player has ever managed to best Omega Rugal '98 in their first round. Challenge a god, Max? You know what Omega Rugal usually says about *THAT.* 😆

This Rugal is fine, he only needs to have his huge health pool, recover health between rounds, and the blocking from his '02 version and he's all set.

Not a good idea. AI gets predictable pretty quickly and if you keep training with it and not with real people you can build up bad habits.
