Man, even though they did a lot of work to improve the visuals of KoFXIV, the difference between XIV and XV really is night and day in terms of visual quality. Anyone who still says XV doesn't look good is out of their mind.
Since kof 13 I don't know why they removed the animation of triple geyser. It sucks because seeing Terry punch the ground with each consecutive geyser is cool.
A couple things to keep in mind: 1. KoF14 supers are designed to be combo'ed one after the other, typically several times per match, so they can't be full-length cinematic experiences without completely bogging the game down. Whereas a Samurai Shodown super can only be attempted once per match, and probably won't hit regardless, so it can be a deservedly extravagant event. And 2. Some of these were the first supers that ever existed in fighting games. So to say they're not very creative is like saying classic rock isn't very creative. All that having been said, Benimaru's supers always suck, and Joe's consistently get let down by their effects. The art team never seems motivated when it comes to Joe Higashi.
I know Max is really hard on projectle supers, but I personally rate them a little higher if the projectile looks interesting. I think it's cool when you can make a beam super more than just another beam super if you get what I mean. So like, the super at 38:46 would fit here cuz that looks dope as hell.
I think out of all the characters that makes me sad to not see return to KOF 15 (at this point since we don't know the final two teams yet) are Chang, Kim, and Oswald. Also Geese's butler since he was certainly a fun addition (and kind of a shame we don't see him return either). As for "Could any of these guys come back as the last two teams?" I feel like Oswald is probably the only one who stands a good chance unless if it turns out Kim is going to get a massive glow up (with even baggier pants). Meanwhile, part of me even questions what team you can place him in if he was only apart of the "Hero" team in KOF11 with Ash and Shen. But hell, if he was a former assassin who had since retired, it could be a fun reason to pair him with Rugal just to put together a team of bad ass older guys (but now sure who you would make the third in that team).
It blows my mind that Shun Ei's level 3 looks way worse in XV. Meitenkun's is super cool. Probably a 10 for me I like Nelson's level 3. It looks like a better and more impactful version of Street Fighter V's Luke. Terry and Kyo have better level 3 on XV too I wish they didn't recycle level 3s for some of the others
im probably the only person who likes Sylvie. and i sadly realized she didnt come back in KOF15 despite one teammate did, maybe the dlc? also Xanadu gets my award of "why is this guy here? he is clearly not well and should get help." award. also beating the final boss with his ultimate is kind of hilarious.
Don't worry, you're not the only one that loves Sylvie. I love that cute little weirdo as well. I kind of feel like I'm one of the only people who loves Alice sometimes and I'm super sad that her and Sylvie didn't return.
@@ArcRay20 Yeah, Alice Garnet Nakata is her full name. She basically idolizes Terry and decided to take up fighting herself because of it. Her fighting style is a self-taught style called South Town Arts and is a mixture of moves from Terry, Andy, Joe, and even Rock Howard.
I remember back during the Terry Legacy Max saying he would do a KoF XIV rate the super, but he never got to it, probably cause he was distracted enjoying XIII. But its finally here, right before XV. Can't wait to hop on that one.
Just gonna put this out there for a historical lesson. So the multiple hit combination attack that Ryo, Robert, Yuri, and Takuma do is called the Ryuuko Ranbu. It's the move Max compared to a Ultra Combo from Killer Instinct. While the comparison is somewhat accurate even though the way you go about achieving them is slightly different, the visuals of the move looks similar. But a point I would like to make is Art of Fighting, where Ryo, Robert, Takuma, bad Yuri are from, came out in 1992 and featured this type of super move finisher first because Killer Instinct came out in 1994. So most people I know call any super that has a character charge at a opponent and do a flashy combination of blows automatically without player input during the animation a Ranbu super. Ultras require certain buttons to be pressed to alter it or get it going. If you wanted a closer comparison, Geese's Deadly Rave is way closer to an Ultra Combo since you need to continuously press different button sequences to successfully complete it. Just saying for clarification a d for anyone who cares.
I swear, man. This was one of the WEIRDEST KOF games I've ever seen. Sure you have your established favorites, but SNK took a LOT of liberties with this game in terms of the new characters. I mean...goodness. HATTORI BANDERAS?! And you just see how appalled Max looks with Xanadu who is just...well...hard to explain. I'm liking the roster of XV much better, to be quite honest. Can't wait to play it! But yeah, Max did a good job with this "Rate the Super." Kudos!
I forgot when I first made my comment to make this one, probably been 3 years now since I started my comment chain! Finally you made KoF14 rate the supers! *Visible shaking* Now where's Tatsunoko vs Capcom rate the supers?
I don't think so, I more that in XIV they did a better camera work and they put some explosions during the super that gave it more impact (but honestly this super needs to be reworked).

The Xandu reaction killed me
#1 Tung Fu Rue's God Hand
#2 Blue Mary's Dynamite Swing (Always a classic)
#3 Chang's Spin around
Special mentions, Whip's acrobatic act & Tuxedo Guy's gravity trick (it should end in a kick with the opponent flying and spinning for a 10 & #1)
Man, even though they did a lot of work to improve the visuals of KoFXIV, the difference between XIV and XV really is night and day in terms of visual quality. Anyone who still says XV doesn't look good is out of their mind.
34:06 I’m guessing that was a 10/10
Yeah I didn’t get the whole point of that bit. Was he satisfied or disappointed.
Who knows
@@JcgLounge Thats the joke.
>Angel’s level three Super
“…I have to give them a 10 for even *going* there.”
Respect, Max.
Can you do videos like this on older obscure fighting games? Like World Heroes (100% because I want to see your reaction to Ra-Ra-Rasputin's super)
Since kof 13 I don't know why they removed the animation of triple geyser. It sucks because seeing Terry punch the ground with each consecutive geyser is cool.
Because back in kof Xiii they wanted to cut off the animations because It was a Lot of effort and money to create sprites
@@Viajanterj Makes sense. Still they could've brought it back in 14 and 15.
@@Spicypuff yeah, i agree. They ve been lazy with most characters but kyo, Iori, shun'ei...
"Damn they went there..damn"

Probably because if they get too motivated, joe gonna turn bald and start wearing an eyepatch while knee-ing everyone in the face
The best Joe super are in CvsS with the double hurricane.
Hey now, Gen'i Hurricane was pretty great in 2000. And he had a literal Chidori in CvS2.
I just realized KOF14 doesn't mirror their models costumes. That's really cool 👍🏾
I know Max is really hard on projectle supers, but I personally rate them a little higher if the projectile looks interesting. I think it's cool when you can make a beam super more than just another beam super if you get what I mean. So like, the super at 38:46 would fit here cuz that looks dope as hell.
That's why I liked it. I gave it a 6 rather than a 4.
17:17 lmfaooo they actually went there
29:21 Vanessa really has all the supers I'd expect that new boxer character to have
I think out of all the characters that makes me sad to not see return to KOF 15 (at this point since we don't know the final two teams yet) are Chang, Kim, and Oswald.
Oswald was going to be a team member for Iori alongside a newcomer in XIII but he and the newcomer got cut
They obviously had to push Kim back to ensure his pants are back to their former glory.
Kof xiv may not have the best graphics, but had some of the best animations in the franchise
Man Kof always had some oddballs, but XIV makes Yamazaki seem sane
It blows my mind that Shun Ei's level 3 looks way worse in XV. Meitenkun's is super cool. Probably a 10 for me
I like Nelson's level 3. It looks like a better and more impactful version of Street Fighter V's Luke.
Terry and Kyo have better level 3 on XV too
I wish they didn't recycle level 3s for some of the others
XIV graphics really go to show how gorgeous KOF XV is
Pre release graphics were even worst
@@picolete fax, they looked like a ps2 game
A stepping stone to something much better
What Ralf said at end of his lvl3 was *"MISSION COMPLETE"*
Ramon's 1st super only good looking on 2D KOF..
im probably the only person who likes Sylvie. and i sadly realized she didnt come back in KOF15 despite one teammate did,
maybe the dlc?
also Xanadu gets my award of "why is this guy here? he is clearly not well and should get help." award.
also beating the final boss with his ultimate is kind of hilarious.
Don't worry, you're not the only one that loves Sylvie. I love that cute little weirdo as well. I kind of feel like I'm one of the only people who loves Alice sometimes and I'm super sad that her and Sylvie didn't return.
@@mattheworabone1317 im drawing a blank on that name, was that the girl with the Fatal Fury hat right?
@@ArcRay20 Yeah, Alice Garnet Nakata is her full name. She basically idolizes Terry and decided to take up fighting herself because of it. Her fighting style is a self-taught style called South Town Arts and is a mixture of moves from Terry, Andy, Joe, and even Rock Howard.
I always felt like her supers were a bit lackluster because she is still improving as a fighter and I'm hoping she comes back as DLC.
You can tell that some Supers were created last minute while others were carefully thought out. Looking forward to whats KoF 15 got to offer 👍
definitely thought out worse, but hey we got dlcs
I remember back during the Terry Legacy Max saying he would do a KoF XIV rate the super, but he never got to it, probably cause he was distracted enjoying XIII. But its finally here, right before XV. Can't wait to hop on that one.
Roughly what the butler says during his level 3: "You can no longer escape from my grasp. Fare you well."
I like to come to these and guess Max's score for each one to see how much we can agree.
I think we all do that
OMG, Andy in this game looks SUPER skinny compared to his KOF 15 design. Thank God they buffed him up.
At least all the series mainstays are here in KoF XIV, KoF XV has the nerve to remove Kim of all people.
Xanadu's Level 3 is a

"Returning to MEMBER SELECT. Is this OK?"
YES/10
Oswald is one of the sickest characters ive ever played in a fighting game and goddam do I want him back in 15
I like when Max just zoomed in that, Papa Chango on meth dude lol 😂
max's face at xanado's lvl 3 super 10/10
I really love these kind of videos of yours, you are amazing as always
Always love to see all the Kinnikuman references in all Clark supers through all KOF history
I'm expecting Angel's super to be a 10/10
You were right!
The sexiest CLIMAX alongside Luong's
@@meganinten0078 Kinda sucks they fall behind Chang's in that term
The zooming in at the end got me good.
Can't wait to see Max play KoF XV
and how the characters will be.
I forgot when I first made my comment to make this one, probably been 3 years now since I started my comment chain! Finally you made KoF14 rate the supers! *Visible shaking*
Now where's Tatsunoko vs Capcom rate the supers?
See you in another 3 years
I know K's Climax in KOF 15 is the same as the last game but the fire effects looked much better in KOF 14
I don't think so, I more that in XIV they did a better camera work and they put some explosions during the super that gave it more impact (but honestly this super needs to be reworked).
I give this game, a “confused Max”/10
Dear lord, I'm laughing hard enough to choke/cough at Xanadu's super and Max's reaction.
