2 more nice boxes Rob! TWO 38 S's is just insane! I just had a nice box that had 1 Liberty, 1 war nickel, 2024 P & D, 2009 D, and some decent shiny nickels that I just filled all but 2 slots of the 1996 - 2025 book and most of the 1962 to 1995 book with some decent shiny ones as well. I still got one more box to go!

I saw the video was 25 minutes long - and I was thinking "heck yeah"! Those key and semi-key dates were sweet! And that I think that 1942-D was the D/Horizontal D. Maybe some damage on the left side of the mint mark, and the inner doubling could be hidden due to the mint mark being flattened. This coin didn't match any of the other RPM's on Variety Vista. If so, that is a cool find! Another great video!
Great finds, I would keep all even the common dates from the 40s and 50s. Box 2 had some great finds and better dates! I have a feeling the 50 D is coming soon, maybe another part of that collection dump.
I only found one 38S in my whole life and you found 2 in 1 hunt and I found mine out west! Luckily it was brand new. Not many floating around up here in the northeast.
Nice finds in that collection dump. In 55 years of collecting, I have never found a 1938-D, 1938-S, 1939-D, 1950-P, 1950-D or 1970-D in circulation. The 1939-S I found is pretty beat up.
Good video, thanks. Nickels are tough, but it's cool that you tried to hunt down more of that earlier buffalo/V collection dump. As you noted, with all those S marks, nice 68s, plus a silver, this might have been a different portion of it. Now do you buy some more boxes & keep looking?
Last week in one roll had a 38 P, 38 D, and 39 S. I don't think it was a collection dump as there were plenty of 2000+ nickles in same roll. I had to sit back for a minute and take it in. Next roll had a single 42 P wartime nickle. Then nothing for the rest of the box 😂 but still wow, what a banger that one was.

Actually I’m pretty sure it is the D/D after closer examination the right of the mint mark shows the markings I would expect on a 42 D/D definitely an epic find. A dream of mine to find one.
If that isn't a d over horizontal d, then I'm curious on what the extra material under the D is, cause it's not post mint damage, it's not any sort of machine doubling, or extra material. Especially after you touched up the coin, it looks even more like a horizontal d. Either way, another great hunt.
When you do an the next penny hunt, are you going to open the two Casino rolls that you got with the old penny collection? I am waiting to see you open those two rolls.

Check the mint mark placement with a known d/horiz d. If it isn't in the same location on your find, you can rule it out right away.

How close are you to a pre 1960 Jefferson Nickel roll set?
Some dates are impossible in great condition - 1942 and 1946 especially so.

1968-D and 1968-S are notoriously poorly struck. Full steps are extremely rare.
Yep... If you find one OR have one, you are sitting on a nice chunk of change (pun intended).
