I remember looking forward to this game the day before, and was hoping for an upset as a Liverpool fan. It was a class game, and Wigan made it that way, how they went toe to toe with that Chelsea team. Definitely an injustice they got nothing from this game, but that Crespo goal was worthy of winning any game lets be honest. Wigan did incredible for there debut season, and almost had silverware too. Phenomenal.
as a wigan fan sat directly behind that shot 10 years later i still feel proud of the preceding 90 minutes... and huuuggeee respect to Jose for his opening response to that first interview question. UP THE F****** 'TICS
Crespo was the most underrated striker in England. Excellent footballer.
That goal from Crespo was unbelievable

Quality player Crespo
Shame he never properly settled in England. One of my favourite strikers of the 00s
can't believe it was that long ago!
When Jose was cool. Best game I seen
Just look at that attendance and atmosphere!
Am Chelsea fan, remember that quality goal from crespo...was amazing.
CRESPOOOO !!! What a moment !
H.camara😇
Wow it almost 20 years ago..
Loved that year!
I'd say it's because this programme was MOTD2, whereas the regular MOTD doesn't look too dissimilar to nowadays.
Hernan Crespo... Puuuuure class!
And to think this Sunday it will be Wigan's last game in the Premier League. First against Chelsea, last against Aston Villa.
no the time for the 2005 match was 16.00 pm
I remember this
I love chelsea
As many a spanish commentator has said at some stage or another: GOLAZO!!
wigan have chelsea at home again on the opening day of this season on a sunday aswell the same as this.
Christ MOTD looks so weird now compared to then
Who knows how Chelsea's season might have turned out had Johansson scored that late chance and inflicted an opening day loss on Chelsea..
The contempt this biased clown of a commentator has for Chelsea is well evident
City and Liverpool would beat this Chelsea team.
Dont let this match fool you into thinking this wasnt a formidable team
Outplayed and then win 1-0, the pathetic injustices of premier league football these days
