    Leonard Parkin must have come back for his 2nd spell here. Peter Sissons was ready to go to Channel 4 News in a month from there. I remember watching either Peter Sissons or Leonard Parkin whenever I came back from playgroup for lunch. Leonard Parkin a true professional would religiously greet you with Hello Good Afternoon. Also made the point of welcoming the younger viewers. Hilarious when he said Sunderland was on Wearside not Tyneside 😂😂😂. Also this was my favourite ITN theme from my childhood

      Leonard Parkin must have hosted the ITN News At One instead of the News at 545 while Peter Sissons was on holiday, and became the full time host when Peter Sissons moved to the Channel 4 News in November 1982. I think Michael Nicholson replaced Leonard Parkin as full time host of the News at 545 when Leonard Parkin became full time host on the News at One.

There is no way that is the ITN helicopter.

    • @johnking5174
      @johnking5174 10 месяцев назад

      @@jamesnicholson2503 How they did that opening shot for the 1985 look was very simple. They went out and photographed the tower and clock face, by standing on the ground at the correct distance and took photographs of the clock tower. These photographs were then simply zoomed into by a camera back in the editing suite and edited into the opening titles. This also meant they could tweak the hands of the clock, if the bulletin was to air a bit later. There are News at Ten programmes from that era which shows the hands at 10.03pm for example. This is what I was told by someone who worked at ITN then, and are now well retired.

      All of the news bulletins on ITV then and now are made at ITN - so yes, it was made at ITN - in 1982 they had two studios - Studio 1 was where News at One, News at 5.45 and News at Ten were produced from in 1982. The smaller Studio 2 was where news summaries, sometimes weekend news was produced from. ITN moved into more spacious studios in 1991
