A friend has been talking to a series of clients. Everyone has a small business, running a bar, coffee shop, small restaurant, small shop, small service to their customers. Everyone has said that with the double whammy of increased NI employer contributions and the lowering of where NI kicks in means the increased tax costs are horrendous. Every one has said that they just cannot continue because their profit margins will be completely wiped out. Even raising prices will inevitably mean that they will lose customers and they cannot see how they can survive with increased Council tax as well. This means that just from these few about 40-50 people will be out of work come April. Not only does the Govt. lose all the tax revenue from these people but will have to support them with Universal Credit. How stupid is Labour? This is a mistake Labour make again and again and again.
