- In this video on pokemon card investing, i take a look at scarlet and violet sealed products and how undervalued they are and how it's very likely they'll rise in value quickly once out of rotation.

My local Kmart has no cards for the last 3 weeks. Eb games next door has to preorder. Damn it’s gone crazy.
Surprised you even have a Kmart around.
EB games and Kmart? Do you live in 2003?
@@TheMarkthetruth I wish.
where the fuck is a Kmart still around at?🤣
I just sold my twilight masquerade booster boxes because the urge to open for me is too high. So I switched most of my sealed into psa 10s
Hahaha never felt the urge to open any of my BBs, but this is a very interesting take, love it 😂
@ I have adhd. Impulse control is lacking
I keep mine across the house lol
“I’m Michael, this is PokeOz, I’ll catch youeveryone next time”
Is it just me or does he say this every time?
One day he will do a Ron Burgundy and say: "I'm Michael, this is PokeOz, go f**k yourselves..."
Haven't commented in awhile, but still watch regularly. Just wanted to say you've been killing it and I appreciate all the videos.
We disrespect this generation because it's still readily available.
Look at the card lists for any SVI set compared to any pre-swsh trainer gallery set. Ignore prices and look at the art.
Now, if it was 3 years from now and you could buy any booster box to open, why would you buy anything except for SVI? Considering the best pullrates, stunning cards and the sheer number of different cards to get?
Which set is better? Aquapolis? Ok, then buy aquapolis. But nothing that can compare in quality is even near svi in price right now.
You're a good guy
Youre the first youtuber i see saying this. Ive been trying to tell everyone i know that scarlet and violet is the best era theyve ever done. It will go down in history as the generation that brought back the ogs. The type of money pokemon has brought in from s&v bringing people in will support pokemon as a business for life. There is no reason why most booster boxes wont be $500 plus. Paldea, surging, likely rocket, and paldean fates, 151, and prismatic are absolutely s tier sets and specialty sets…
Slow down bud. As a og slow down
@ lol i know its bold, but when pokemon looks at the numbers at the end of this era, s&v will unquestionably be the best selling era ever and that will be hard to compete with in the future until the next bullrun happens imo. Is there something im missing?
@@medcardman alot mate but you do you lmao
@@mhutch5082 ok thanks for the input…
Ignore the haters, you're spot on. Which other generation had nearly the amount of stunning arts? If you skip swsh trainer galleries (which are not even in every set), there was nothing on par with the sheer amount of beautiful IRs and SIRs in every. Single. SVI. Set.
Even Paradox rift which is a meme has art that is better than anything that came before.
Show the Magby or Mantyke IRs (not even altaria, garchomp or groudon) to any non-collector (or someone who likes pokemon but has no idea of prices) and compare them to literally *whatever * card you want before the swsh trainer galleries and see which card they find more beautiful or interesting.
So I don't see a reason anyone would open a SM set in 5 years even if it costs the same as PAR (probably will always be more expensive than PAR) when in PAR you have a guarantee of getting at least 3-4 stunning cards...and PAR is probably the least liked set
I think the problem with SV and future gen sets will be that the PC are clearly taking a route of providing more miscellaneous products rather than over printing booster boxes.
Whilst this will eventually make the booster boxes a rare commodity, and collection piece, there will be tons of miscellaneous product still around to provide an alternate route of ripping packs and having to buy a booster box.
The booster box will always be a premium and sought after product, however the length of time for the booster boxes will rise more slowly due to there being so many alternative products which will provide a cost to pack ratio a lot cheaper than buying a booster box.
Just my take on the situation right now. Its a cyclical hobby which is why each gen performs completely differently, however all factors need to be taken in to consideration. The booster boxes and top hits are not the only things that regulate and determine pricing 👍
Really smart comment here
Here is another point, the single prices are too high and will all come crashing down to become the right balance of sealed booster box pricing.
I'm willing to bet on that! There are lots of people around my area and my shop that are extremely upset at the higher prices of packs. They are unwilling to buy and the people who are buying are basically whales. Unsustainable.
Not saying the market will crash but I'm willing to put my bet that singles will drop really hard. Now for buying sealed booster boxes, I think the worst thing it can do is drop like 20% or not move. Since there is a price floor, its actually not too bad of a bet for it to go higher.
I'm holding 2 years minimum.
You do make very good points. The more people rip open those booster boxes, the more rare the box becomes. It is a vicious cycle where booster boxes will easily hit 1000 in 5 years. Evolving skies is like a sneak preview for all boxes.
ES is an outlier. No 2 Pokemon sets are the same.
A really interesting take. I understand prismatic evolution is bringing in a lot of value right now and it mostly because demand fire exceed supply. However, I still think even if you take away $1000 or $1500 from that value that still large discrepancy between sealed and singles. This is a really good point for sure. Personally I’m still hoping there’s some reprints coming that I could take advantage of before I go in a little bit more on sealed. However, I’ve been burned with that thought process before lol.
There might be PRE reprints, but 1) there is no way they reprint ETBs, so get on that fast if you can
2) considering pull rates are almost the same as EVS (and traditionally reprints have worse pullrates) I don't see why the PRE Sunbreon would ever cost less than the moonbreon. And although the EVS Rayquaza is cooler than any eevolution ever for me (including any lgbt houndooms), the rest of the SIRs in PRE are no less than those in EVS (I would argue stronger top 10 but time will tell). So why would prismatic be overpriced costing 4x less than EVS?
Considering the pullrates, even with 100 reprints these cards will never flood the market enough to destroy the price, so I think it's time we start to buy any ETB we can get sub 100$ (no idea of us retail prices, in Europe it's 70$ for every set anyway)
Crazy to think that we were buying Booster boxes for $140-150aus. So glad I bought things over the last 18months because I didn’t think prices or stock would be what they are right now.
Is Obsidian Booster box a good buy right now?? 👀
Helllll no.
The Charizard is a screaming buy though.
Hey, I appreciate the amount of content you upload recently. Keep up the good work!
Michael good pickup, but I am on the flip side of this thought. I think the sealed prices are indicating the potential drop we will see on the value of the top hits in the coming future. Think the market is in such a boom that people have poke goggles on but when things cool of those hits will drop in value, coming more into line with the value of the sealed products. Maybe I am wrong but it is interesting to see which way it'll go.
I guess all we can work on is what we have now, but you're right. If there's a reprint they'll drop. Also, Prismatic prices need to find their feet!
@pokeoz91 absolutely. To be honest I want your scenario to come true being a sealed investor 😁. Thanks for the videos they give a unique take on the market.
Vivid Voltage in America is sold out on Pokémon site
I seen a 3000$ Korean Booster Box the other day. So im convinced any booster will go up eventually now.
Hey Michael! Question for you: What have you been enjoying about the hobby lately?
Interesting take - the singles of some of the S & V cards are going crazy. If you had $1000 to spend on sealed in the current market would you focus on ETBs or Booster Boxes?
Booster Box all the way. ETBs are still good though especially for holiday sets that have no Booster box.
Opportunity cost might be starting to make sense. $200 should be the new floor for S/V era bbs
Personally, $160-170 seems to be the sweet spot right now. But the point is absolutely true; we have to adjust our floor for SV BBS.
Because long term, these boxes will at least climb to $200 a box when they're out of print (and this is for the worst sets, the better sets are already there).
I'm just hoping to get a Stellar Crown booster box for around $100usd.
Thanks for the update 🥃
That’s so crazy you’re over 21,000 subscribers now congrats🎉🎉🎉 I remember when you cracked over 1000
Michael, shame on you for promoting scalper tools.
No Pokemon investor needs a discord channel to tell them when stores restock because investors do not buy the latest sets.
Only scalpers do that.
Was it worth the sponsorship dollars to become a sellout?
Buy low and sell high? Sounds like a scam to me. 😉
Sell low and buy high 👀
For the algo!
Day 1 of helping with the algorithm
Bought a 4 etb case for my self to open. Personally wanted the dopamine rush, also thought the pack was ridiculously cheap considering the hit cards. I would like to buy more if the prices dont soar
It’s still the worst set of the S&V era
Is it not a children's game for children to enjoy, why are we talking about thousands of USD per box and cards. What child can enjoy that when adults with serious money are the ones buying all. SO is this just an adult game now?
It was always for all ages man
We are the kids who grew up with pokemon and now were not kids anymore
I would argue that if anything they're OVER valued, especially considering that every single S&V set is still technically within the reprint window. Even the base set is only 1 year and 10 months old, like what are we doing here man? Brand new set boxes like twilight masquerade, a set that came out just 7 months ago, should NOT be worth $330 right now!
In comparison to total singles prices though, the sealed is undervalued, the gap is massive. It'll have to be bridged. Like you say, this can be done, and likely will, with reprints in the short term. But long term, S&V has heaps of value potential!
Doubt SV Base, Obsidian, Paldea, Paradox will get any more reprints. The reprint window is usually around 1.5 years. After that it significantly decreases. SV base doesn't have the demand and never had the demand to justify a large reprint. Pokemon is going to focus more on Journey, Team Rocket, and reprints for sets like Twilight, Surging, and Prismatic. SV base is a good buy and investment right now. The reprint window is quickly closing completely and once that happens the value will go up up up.
What we are doing here is thinking long term not short term, man.
@ Even if that was the case then they are STILL not undervalued at all, because even being all less than two years old they are much more expensive than previous sets of the same age. So undervalued where exactly??? They are all overvalued, and long term will clearly be even more overvalued.
@ But you're not guaranteed to pull big hits in booster boxes, even pulling one is a stroke of luck. You can hardly value one booster box on the value of all the cards (which are all also overvalued right now) in the set when each booster box has a very slim chance of pulling just one card.
