After watching him as a kid, & and many great sporting events I’ve seen growing up ,past and present, I honestly believe he is “Classiest “ athlete I know of. Still can’t believe he’s gone. Three Filipino's managed to last 15 rounds with Arguello. Rey Tam, Navarette and Andy Ganigan. They were all KO'd in 5 rounds bringing to a total of 15 rounds. Kidding aside, Ganigan managed to deck Arguello but the Nicaraguan has superior punching technique and much better chin.
Rolando Navarrete even though his career isn't well decorated when you watch his fights you know you're watching a Boxing master who has tricks of a southpaw using both hands. I'm Proud of his skill set.
Arguello along with Ali are my idols & always will be.I think Arguello in his 1st fight with Pryor would have gone the distance had he been 3 years younger,at 31 years old & 80 pro fights under his belt some of them knock em down brutal bouts takes its toll on you,I do not know if he would have won a decision but think he would have finished the fight.Arguello did his best work in the late rds & back then that was rds 13-14 & 15,but like I said he had 80 bouts under his belt & at 31 & against probally the greatest most brutal jr ww of all time it was just too much.Arguello also had 4 other fights at 140 which he won all by knock out so we know he still had power even a 140,He lost his last 2 when he came out of retirement for the 2nd time at wealter weight,but he was also I believe in his early 40s.

Some people say Manny would had destroyed Arguello or Duran, really if Marquez who is not a hard puncher put Manny to sleep what do you think Arguello or Duran would had done to Manny, They would had knocked him out cold and retired him from boxing forever. LOL
The punch that you don't see coming is the one that knocks you out. That's how Manny was k.o.ed by JMM. Manny is one of those boxer's that could actually hold their own in the era of 15 rounders.
Casey Cook the cut was pretty bad. You could see him paw at it near the end of the 4th round. I agree with you that Arguello would have eventually won probably by the 10th round. Rolando did eventually win a world championship after Arguello moved up to lightweight.
