When you hear the second vocal come in higher, that is actually Miku. She can sound like Saiki so well it is scary. And she can do it it a separate key. Ohhh, you will hear some other solos that take you the same way if you keep going. And the level of polish you will have to blame Kanami for. And thank Saiki for. Kanami seeks perfection, Saiki says "ENOUGH!". Otherwise we might still be waiting for Conqueror, Unseen World, and Unleash!.
What? Miku doesn't sound like Saiki, or do I have exceptional set of ears? Even when I first listened to Freezer on Spotify I could tell the difference.
I actually enjoy what Miku does in her harmonization of the rap-like section. This is why, although I feel she never gets enough credit, Miku is awesome!

I'm not 100% but that strange harmony you mentioned at the beginning is most due to the interval being a major 4th instead of the usual nice sounding 3rd. So it's the actual note she's singing, not an effect. It gives that part tension.

You did appear to pause right before her solo on that one, not during it, but still seemed to appreciate it. I think that's why Band-Maid fans get so demanding about it, and often stopping and restarting takes the solo out of context. Like analysing a single word in a poem, it's okay to understand why the poem means what it does, but the overall context is important too. Kanami does this _all the time_ with her solos. Daydreaming, Blooming, Puzzle are but three examples ...
