One of my favorites for it's straight up Rock groove and this video really makes this and is a visual masterpiece song. Love this much better than the semi-LIVE online stream.
There are lot of visual easter eggs & imagery hidden in the "Manners" MV. My fave is Saiki & Miku drinking evening tea in the gazebo which is a reimagining of the "Just Bring It" album cover :)
Has been a top 5 for me..But I know that's not really possible with thse ladies..so gave up having an imaginary top 5..Still have a Top 2..not gonna change..The rest are in third place...hehe.
Hi Gary. I am Chloe Kelly.🤗 Yes! From a distance, the album cover looks like a skull! And you are right. I've considered my top 10 many times, but it changes from time to time and no matter how hard I try, the top 50 is my limit.😅
To be fair, tho, the English is NOT added for English speakers. It's there for similar reasons to Japanese captions filling japanese TV programs: Japanese is a difficult language with many contexts and homophones ... and English sounds sophisticated and cool. You'll find a lot of English sprinkled in Korean songs as well.
@@GaryHolloway-810 A good comment for sure, but it's clearly wasted on Joel. He's been reading this same basic comment since he started reacting to Japanese music and his attitude hasn't changed on the subject.
@@billb.5183 Yeah i know Joel's standpoint, Bill. Personally i think Saiki's seamless transition between Japanese & English vocals is extremely well done. I could be wrong but remember, i'm never wrong.😁
@armynurseboy Yes, excellent point. A good example of this general topic are the lyrics to Band Maid's Rock In Me. As an English only guy they look crazy to me.
As usual, the live version is even better with it being much more bass driven, especially the beginning with Misa and Akane sounding just perfect together.
The Maids use of English, Joel, isn't a scheme simply to appease English-speaking fans or potential fans. The Japanese sometimes enterject English words in conversation and music if it means a better way to express something. And the way Miku and Saiki manipulate both their native language and English to fit the cadence and flow of the song creates, to me, a more interesting delivery of the lyrics. They do, however, sometimes purposely put in English words and phrases in certain sections of their songs, like during some choruses, etc., to help bring English-speaking audience into their songs and sing-a-longs to increase interaction and fun for their live performances. I do wish Saiki would work on her strong accent in some cases. Thx for another Band-Maid reaction, Joel! Maybe someday you'll don headphones so you can get the full impact of their music and hear it the way the creators spent so much time and money to produce. 🤘😉
He's been complaining about Japanese bands using English since he started reacting to them and people have basically posted this same comment every time. It goes in one ear and out the other. He flat out accused BAND-MAID of lazy song writing in his Why Why Why reaction.
This was a song that Band-Maid was hoping to be a much bigger hit. On the deluxe boxed set of the 'Unseen World' album, "Manners" was on both discs 1 & 2, and they dropped "Youth" from the track list. I bought the standard edition just to get that rockin' track. I've heard that "Manners" was yet another of their songwriting experiments: that they did research by examining current hit rock songs and attempting to classify what features made those songs into hit songs. They then came up with a list of specifications and tried to write a song to that spec. I can't fault them for trying: I really do like this song. and writing songs to spec is why they've been contracted to write so many anime themes. They're good at it: "Shambles" is a huge hit on that account. I'll admit that this is one of their songs that hooked me into becoming a Maidiac. I saw it first in the 'Day of the Maid' "Manners/Black Hole" video and was surprised to see the produced MV later. Once again, the live performance is 'more alive'.
I take it that of prior to this you had only heard the acoustic version, you must not have seen the live two-song performance that has Manners and Blackhole. It was from one of their covid era online okyuji so there is no audience, but it would be interesting to see your take on not only another version of Manners, but also the song Blackhole which is one one of my all time favorites from them.
Yes, definitely straight up rock on this one. But, I think they killed it in this one as well. I nice to see that they can do just about anything they want. Haven't seen them do a country western song, not yet, maybe that's still to come.
I think this is their best video, I'm sorry you don't feel that way. I don't think the live performance is better, and I never cared for unplugged versions of songs ever since MTV started that.
It's one of my favorite MV too. But I don't agree with you about unplugged versions, even if I propbably understand why you don't like it (too often, lazy bands just replace the electric guitars by acoustics and that's it - but not Band-Maid, they totally re-arrange their songs for acoustics renditions).
People argue that Lead Zeppelin is not "metal" but lead is metal... right? Yeah lead is a "heavy metal" The lyric "heavy metal thunder" is first used in the Steppenwolf song "Born to be Wild" its a reference to plutonium used in atomic bombs. Plutonium is 50 times heavier than lead. I actually love Manners for the lyrics more than any other Band-Maid song. It's a battle cry "TAKE OVER THE WORLD NEVER ENDING DREAMER" BECAUSE "OUR ROCK NEVER DIES"
@@GaryHolloway-810 Ah Man!.sorry to hear Gary...One of my medical conditions flaired up and so has been pretty painful for the past week...So feeling run down (on top of)...Hope you feeling better...I'm sure some MAID's will help get back your mojo.

This is one of my favorite songs from "Unseen World" which is a very impressive album of songs.
I really like this video, and I think the English fits very well and keeps things moving. Overall one of my favorites. Thanks
Def one of my favorites from the Maids. So *groovy*! Rock on, Sir! 🤘😎👍
I love this band and kanami to no end but saiki's vocals in this song really shows what she is all about one of the greatest singers out now
I love the live version of this song they just added a little more funk to it
You should see the LIVE version. It's paired with 'Black Hole'. Unfortunately it was a COVID Studio LIVE, so no audience.
As usual, the live version is even better with it being much more bass driven, especially the beginning with Misa and Akane sounding just perfect together.
Thanks, one of my fav's from BM.
By the way, there is a live concert performance of this song, it’s even better Manners/BLACK HOLE
