The constant changing up (from verse to verse the instrumental parts are never the same) is one of their trademarks. Most of their songs do this, so you can listen to a song a zillion times and still find them cool and interesting. This band is special, and their songwriting is on the top of the list of the many reasons why. BAND-MAID (Formed in 2013) This is what happens when all the right pieces fall into place. Miku (PO) comes up with the idea of a hard rock band in maid outfits after working in a maid cafe and looks for a lead guitarist and finds Kanami on RUclips, and then ask her to join the band and it doesn’t have any other members. Kanami joins and knows a drummer that she has worked with in the past on session work Akane and she ask her to join the band. Akane joins and knows a bassist that she was in a band with in school they went to the same music school and did session work together, MISA and ask her to join the band. MISA joins and the three girls and one small pigeon (Miku) start their journey but Miku doesn’t think her voice is what the band needs. The band holds open auditions and they find Saiki and she is asked to join the band but they don’t tell her they will be dressing as maids. At this point Miku steps down from vocals and picks up the guitar (The Rickenbacker) never playing a guitar before and takes on rhythm guitar in the band. She starts with an E bar cord and look at her now 8 years later. If you remove any one of these woman from the band it will not work. They work as a team, Akane helps with the staging, Kanami writes the music, Miku writes the lyrics, MISA and Saiki give their input to help with the impact of the songs. This is a true band they don’t fight they work together for the welfare of the band, no glory hogging everyone get their chance to shine. If it wasn't for the pandemic BAND-MAID would have gone worldwide in 2020.
Interesting to hear your views as an opera singer. My first love is opera but I discovered Band Maid a year ago and they reignited my interest in rock. Listen to them every day and I think they are a truly outstanding group off musicians and just a joy to see and hear. Kanami is a treasure,

Good reaction, another Awesome song from BAND-MAID. I like the power these women put into their performances, sound, and switching it up the way they do. I also like their pose in the video shows attitude, zipper eyed and stretched tongue.

I really love Band-Maid, I am such a big fan of their music. They are so talented, they amaze me every time with new things. Maybe as an opera singer you wish to hear more vocal stuff from Band-Maid, I would suggest the songs Wonderland (Official Live Video), Daydreaming (Official Video) and their recent song About Us (Official Live Video). The last one was originally meant as a special song for their fans (masters&mistresses) to wish them good health and stay strong during this time.
I respectfully disagree with my fellow Maidiacs saying the video hands are a reference to the album cover. I believe it is the other way around. Here's why. To really "get" the part with the hands, first search and watch a couple of time-lapse videos of plant growth. THEN come back and notice the watering can followed by the hands. The hands symbolize their growth. Miku planted the seeds. Implied. Kanami watered them. Look at the lady with the watering can. Notice the apron, the whole outfit, how she moves... that's absolutely Kanami. And they grew. This sequence is not some meaningless random shit a techie threw in just to do it. This is very deliberate art the band members created and all of them participated. The hands are not CG, and not a multiplied compilation from one model. They all put on identical red nail polish and as a team, moved mimicking a plant growing. This was mentioned in interview, it is not a guess, they all did it as a team. Miku planted. Kanami watered. They grew. This whole video is loaded with symbolism. At the end, fading echo like ah ah ah ah in an empty house because they have moved on to the unseen world. The Unseen World. In other words - "You ain't seen nothin' yet!"

Thank you for a delightful video! Band Maid is so much fun to watch and I love this song. If you like another very recent Band Maid song, "Warning!" is very hard driving and has some great vocals from both Saiki and Miku (I think you can read the sub titles too :) They are all such talented musicians, write such amazing lyrics with complex music woven around it. No simple rhymes for Band Maid. I look forward to the next time they grace the channel.

I went back and saw your previous Band Maid reactions. You should soooo post your Domination "Live" reaction. We Band Maid fans love seeing a reacters first introduction to Band Maid. 9/10first reactions are like yours. As for what to react to next?:?:?:? Blooming, Warning, Daydreaming, Thrill (their 1st MV).... Seriously, anything from their RUclips page is cool. As for "copywrite", so long as it is from their YT page, it's all good. You will get requests for other songs that aren't on their YT page.... then you'll have to "link and sync".
Thanks for the great video, Band Maid is a special group of women who found a way to forge their own identity in the brutal world of Japanese music (....actually music in general) and thrive in it. Would love to see what you think of some more of their recent songs like About Us and After Life.

They usually do 2-5 shifts per song. Depending on what the song calls for obviously. That's REALLY hard to do and have the song make sense and not sound discombobulated.

Its hard to pick a favorite because their new album is just amazing, but this song is up there for me, such a nice groovy song and it's a great change of pace on an album that is faster and heavier than ever! Now that you did Band Maid im gonna suggest my other favorite band, LOVEBITES - Edge of the World Live 2020, very different from BM. Both bands are amazing!
If your shooketh after that onset, that's nothing compared to My Michelle by Guns n' Roses. "Ooh, that's creepy!" That's literally the album cover (perhaps my least favorite album cover they've done, but it works for an album written and recorded during the pandemic). If you like them constantly changing it up like this, check out Giovanni, off of the same album, called Unseen World. It's their proggiest song yet, seriously. They have a new live video out from their online concert last month, of a song written for the fans called "About Us". It's the softest song they've done, and you can feel the emotion. (a bit of a backstory: They were supposed to perform at Nippon Budokan last month, which would've been their first live show with fans since last February, but when it was canceled, they decided to do what they'd already done three times prior, and play, but livestream it online. It's from this performance that the video for "About Us" is from.) Also, I don't think you've reacted to their live video for Wonderland, and if you haven't, please do so. It's Saiki's vocal showcase.
Hey Maggie Renee'-saw you do a reaction of another artist and thought hmmm, I wonder if she's done any reactions of otherworldly. brilliant Band-Maid...That was a yes! Since you're a singer I knew you were going to love "Manners", I'm a Maidiac coming up on three years and these ladies are exceptional in everything they do! Girl Power indeed-they've got plenty of swagger on this one don't they? Kanami has really impressed many of us vet guitarists and Misa Misa, the bassist, is one of the best. Her thunderous radiant tone is to die for! Hand in glove with Akane the superb drummer, they are a potent rhythm section aren't they? Miku is quite the rhythm guitarist and Saiki completes the mindblowing package on vocals. Yes, as you said In sync and together. that is what they are all about, Not only are they some of the hardest working women in rock but they are all extremely kind and quite funny. I'm not sure if you've reacted to "Daydreaming" yet or "Wonderland"--I think either would be enjoyable for you. Or "Blooming"...ha ha! Glad that you love the band too!

If you added some insight from your professional training and expereince to how they harmonize and make the vocal choices they perform in different sections, that would be very cool to hear. check out a japanese all female metal band called Marys Blood a track called Death Queens March (live at Blitz) pure metal theatre and Eye (lead vocalist) duets with an opera singer sorry dont know the opera singers name but i think you would enjoy it thx
You wanna hear more girl power? Lovebites is another all female band from Japan, and they play heavy/power/trash metal. Miyako, one of the guitarists is also classically trained pianist, so she love to combine classical music (Beethoven, Chopin, Rachmaninoff) with metal. There are some songs with that fusion: Swan song - live (intro is Revolutionary etude by Chopin, and you can her some quotes in guitar solo), Empty daydream - live (Rachmaninoff Moment Musicaux Op. 16 No. 4 in e Minor), Winds of Transylvania (Beethoven, some qoutes and his famous D-T progression), and newest song from last EP Dystopia Symphony (Moonlight sonata 3th movement). Also, I think you would enjoy in vocals, Asami have very powerfull voice, in the style of some symphonic bands like Nightwish, or even some call her female Bruce Dickinson.

Hello Maggie! You said in the beginning that you had Band-Maid on your channel a couple times already. That got me wondering - I've seen your "Jinjer" (Pisces) one some time ago, so your face wasn't unfamiliar ;) - but I couldn't remember a "Band-Maid" one... I went and checked your channel XD Correct me if I'm wrong - you had "Domination" (live) and the Herman Li audition on your streams... and that's it, right? Or did I missed one? I'm basing it on these three you heard. On "Domination" you mentioned that it's more like punk-rock elements to you, something like Avril Lavigne and Paramore... Well - yes! The wikipedia page lists them as "heavy metal" - but they really aren't. You can hear metal elements here and there - but they don't consider themself as metal-band and also don't want to go that route. The very first Band-Maid album is simply pop-punk! Very poppy! It was good, but didn't have the success and they tried something harder - the very first MV they released was "Thrill". It's basically classic hard-rock, very US-typical, I would say. Wasn't really a fan of the song back then - but the next MV got me hooked, and I'm following this band since 2014. Since then - it's all just uphill! Their progress is astonishing :D They never completely left the punk roots however, it's still there in the newer songs also Up until the single "Alone" they didn't released their own songs (rejected by the label), but Miku (the 2nd singer with the red flower; founder) provided some lyrics on the earlier songs (credited or co-credited). "Alone" was the first completely own single they released - and since then they have taken more and more over control. The vast majority of songs is composed by Kanami (lead guitar), lyrics by Miku. But all of them are involved equally. They even produce themselves nowadays. Since 2013 - 3 mini-albums (well, basically LPs but shorter, but more than EPs XD) and 4 full studio albums. And it's a touring live band! They basically played yearly somewhere between 60 - 100 shows per year (mostly in Japan ofc). 2020 was very bad in that regard - the show where "Domination" live was from (Feb.14 2020) was their last full-audience show before the lockdown. Later in 2020 they played 3 online live shows and recorded a new album. The album came out in Jan. 2021 (as you mentioned in this video) and they followed it with a live online show (with their longest set list till now) in February. Band-Maid tour outside of Japan since 2016. Not a lot of gigs and not in front of a big audience, but hey, the band is not that well known sadly. They aren't on "Babymetal" or "One Ok Rock" level. Yet. One thing that's unusual for them - ca 70% of Band-Maids fanbase is NOT from Japan! That's a very (!) high percentage for a japanese band, made for japanese audience. A lot of japanese bands are unknown outside the borders, and most of them don't really care as the domestic market is HUGE (2nd biggest in the world, after US - but way smaller country+population). "Babymetal" opened the gates kinda. You tried to read into lyrics on "Domination"... yeah, well. Translations are "googlish". Japanese is hard to translate properly. Miku writes a lot of metaphors and such... English - try to understand what's being said Eastern European language - try to understand what's being said and what might have been said Japanese - try to understand what's being said, what might have been said... and also what wasn't said at all XD Anyway They are my favorite band! Oh, and - yes girl power and such! The "gap" between the maid uniforms and the music they play is by design. The "second gap" - between their music and their offstage mannerisms is an even bigger one ! You only have seen a little glimpse of it after the jam with Herman Li. The whole interview/stream Herman did with them was pure gold. It's definitely one of the *girliest* girl bands! for suggestions... hmm look at their youtube page. It's all good. All very different, all "Band-Maid". For vocals maybe "Daydreaming" and "Wonderland" (Saiki shines on lead voc) Hmm, someone in your chat mentioned "anime"... "Glory" was used in an anime... But "Different" (dec.20) is an opening for the anime "Log Horizon". (in japan you really want an anime opening - that helps A LOT)

Very surprised to see this here since you primarily focus on vocals. I'm in love with Misa the bass player. She will not wear a traditional maid outfit, so she has a stylized goth costume. Her playing is amazing. Everyone in this band is a fantastic musician and as you noticed really play off of each others strengths.

would love to see your reaction to About Us by Band Maid.. its a love letter they wrote to fans in preparation for there first live performance since covid. wich was ment to be at Budokan festivival wich i beleive is a perform by invitation only event in japan it was cancelled however so they performed for 2 1/2 hours on a live stream including this song and a heartfelt speech by the lead singer who despite being a force on stage and able to command crowds it generally quiet and leaves most of the talking to Miku. despite it being a song that is in no way like their normal music fans went and still do crazy over it. i would love as would all madiacs to hear you vocal analysis of the song. thanks sorry for the paragraph :D

I love them. For everything they are standing for. I thank the Rock-God for them every day. But maybe you wan to react to Nemophila " Dissension". It' s a newer All Girls Rock Band and they are great. Built by Saki, the best guitar player on this planet, from different other bands. Their music is a little more metal than Bandmaid, but also amazing.

BAND-MAID (Formed in 2013)
This is what happens when all the right pieces fall into place.
Miku (PO) comes up with the idea of a hard rock band in maid outfits after working in a maid cafe and looks for a lead guitarist and finds Kanami on RUclips, and then ask her to join the band and it doesn’t have any other members.
Kanami joins and knows a drummer that she has worked with in the past on session work Akane and she ask her to join the band.
Akane joins and knows a bassist that she was in a band with in school they went to the same music school and did session work together, MISA and ask her to join the band.
MISA joins and the three girls and one small pigeon (Miku) start their journey but Miku doesn’t think her voice is what the band needs. The band holds open auditions and they find Saiki and she is asked to join the band but they don’t tell her they will be dressing as maids.
At this point Miku steps down from vocals and picks up the guitar (The Rickenbacker) never playing a guitar before and takes on rhythm guitar in the band. She starts with an E bar cord and look at her now 8 years later.
If you remove any one of these woman from the band it will not work. They work as a team, Akane helps with the staging, Kanami writes the music, Miku writes the lyrics, MISA and Saiki give their input to help with the impact of the songs. This is a true band they don’t fight they work together for the welfare of the band, no glory hogging everyone get their chance to shine.
If it wasn't for the pandemic BAND-MAID would have gone worldwide in 2020.

I really love Band-Maid, I am such a big fan of their music. They are so talented, they amaze me every time with new things. Maybe as an opera singer you wish to hear more vocal stuff from Band-Maid, I would suggest the songs Wonderland (Official Live Video), Daydreaming (Official Video) and their recent song About Us (Official Live Video). The last one was originally meant as a special song for their fans (masters&mistresses) to wish them good health and stay strong during this time.

I respectfully disagree with my fellow Maidiacs saying the video hands are a reference to the album cover. I believe it is the other way around. Here's why.
To really "get" the part with the hands, first search and watch a couple of time-lapse videos of plant growth. THEN come back and notice the watering can followed by the hands. The hands symbolize their growth.
Miku planted the seeds. Implied.
Kanami watered them. Look at the lady with the watering can. Notice the apron, the whole outfit, how she moves... that's absolutely Kanami.
And they grew.
This sequence is not some meaningless random shit a techie threw in just to do it.
This is very deliberate art the band members created and all of them participated. The hands are not CG, and not a multiplied compilation from one model. They all put on identical red nail polish and as a team, moved mimicking a plant growing. This was mentioned in interview, it is not a guess, they all did it as a team.
Miku planted. Kanami watered. They grew.
This whole video is loaded with symbolism. At the end, fading echo like ah ah ah ah in an empty house because they have moved on to the unseen world.
The Unseen World. In other words -
"You ain't seen nothin' yet!"

If you like another very recent Band Maid song, "Warning!" is very hard driving and has some great vocals from both Saiki and Miku (I think you can read the sub titles too :) They are all such talented musicians, write such amazing lyrics with complex music woven around it. We Band Maid fans love seeing a reacters first introduction to Band Maid. 9/10first reactions are like yours. As for what to react to next?:?:?:? They usually do 2-5 shifts per song. Depending on what the song calls for obviously. That's REALLY hard to do and have the song make sense and not sound discombobulated.

"Ooh, that's creepy!" That's literally the album cover (perhaps my least favorite album cover they've done, but it works for an album written and recorded during the pandemic).
If you like them constantly changing it up like this, check out Giovanni, off of the same album, called Unseen World. It's their proggiest song yet, seriously.
They have a new live video out from their online concert last month, of a song written for the fans called "About Us". It's the softest song they've done, and you can feel the emotion. (a bit of a backstory: They were supposed to perform at Nippon Budokan last month, which would've been their first live show with fans since last February, but when it was canceled, they decided to do what they'd already done three times prior, and play, but livestream it online. It's from this performance that the video for "About Us" is from.)

Hey Maggie Renee'-saw you do a reaction of another artist and thought hmmm, I wonder if she's done any reactions of otherworldly. brilliant Band-Maid...That was a yes! Since you're a singer I knew you were going to love "Manners", I'm a Maidiac coming up on three years and these ladies are exceptional in everything they do! Girl Power indeed-they've got plenty of swagger on this one don't they? Kanami has really impressed many of us vet guitarists and Misa Misa, the bassist, is one of the best. Her thunderous radiant tone is to die for! Hand in glove with Akane the superb drummer, they are a potent rhythm section aren't they? Miku is quite the rhythm guitarist and Saiki completes the mindblowing package on vocals. Yes, as you said In sync and together. that is what they are all about, Not only are they some of the hardest working women in rock but they are all extremely kind and quite funny. I'm not sure if you've reacted to "Daydreaming" yet or "Wonderland"--I think either would be enjoyable for you. Or "Blooming"...ha ha! Glad that you love the band too!

You wanna hear more girl power? Lovebites is another all female band from Japan, and they play heavy/power/trash metal. Miyako, one of the guitarists is also classically trained pianist, so she love to combine classical music (Beethoven, Chopin, Rachmaninoff) with metal. There are some songs with that fusion: Swan song - live (intro is Revolutionary etude by Chopin, and you can her some quotes in guitar solo), Empty daydream - live (Rachmaninoff Moment Musicaux Op. 16 No. 4 in e Minor), Winds of Transylvania (Beethoven, some qoutes and his famous D-T progression), and newest song from last EP Dystopia Symphony (Moonlight sonata 3th movement).
Also, I think you would enjoy in vocals, Asami have very powerfull voice, in the style of some symphonic bands like Nightwish, or even some call her female Bruce Dickinson.

Hello Maggie! You said in the beginning that you had Band-Maid on your channel a couple times already. That got me wondering - I've seen your "Jinjer" (Pisces) one some time ago, so your face wasn't unfamiliar ;) - but I couldn't remember a "Band-Maid" one... I went and checked your channel XD
Correct me if I'm wrong - you had "Domination" (live) and the Herman Li audition on your streams... and that's it, right? Or did I missed one?
I'm basing it on these three you heard.
On "Domination" you mentioned that it's more like punk-rock elements to you, something like Avril Lavigne and Paramore... Well - yes! The wikipedia page lists them as "heavy metal" - but they really aren't. You can hear metal elements here and there - but they don't consider themself as metal-band and also don't want to go that route. The very first Band-Maid album is simply pop-punk! Very poppy! It was good, but didn't have the success and they tried something harder - the very first MV they released was "Thrill". It's basically classic hard-rock, very US-typical, I would say. Wasn't really a fan of the song back then - but the next MV got me hooked, and I'm following this band since 2014. Since then - it's all just uphill! Their progress is astonishing :D They never completely left the punk roots however, it's still there in the newer songs also
Up until the single "Alone" they didn't released their own songs (rejected by the label), but Miku (the 2nd singer with the red flower; founder) provided some lyrics on the earlier songs (credited or co-credited). "Alone" was the first completely own single they released - and since then they have taken more and more over control. The vast majority of songs is composed by Kanami (lead guitar), lyrics by Miku. But all of them are involved equally. They even produce themselves nowadays.
Since 2013 - 3 mini-albums (well, basically LPs but shorter, but more than EPs XD) and 4 full studio albums. And it's a touring live band! They basically played yearly somewhere between 60 - 100 shows per year (mostly in Japan ofc). 2020 was very bad in that regard - the show where "Domination" live was from (Feb.14 2020) was their last full-audience show before the lockdown. Later in 2020 they played 3 online live shows and recorded a new album. The album came out in Jan. 2021 (as you mentioned in this video) and they followed it with a live online show (with their longest set list till now) in February.
Band-Maid tour outside of Japan since 2016. Not a lot of gigs and not in front of a big audience, but hey, the band is not that well known sadly. They aren't on "Babymetal" or "One Ok Rock" level. Yet. One thing that's unusual for them - ca 70% of Band-Maids fanbase is NOT from Japan! That's a very (!) high percentage for a japanese band, made for japanese audience. A lot of japanese bands are unknown outside the borders, and most of them don't really care as the domestic market is HUGE (2nd biggest in the world, after US - but way smaller country+population). "Babymetal" opened the gates kinda.
You tried to read into lyrics on "Domination"... yeah, well. Translations are "googlish". Japanese is hard to translate properly. Miku writes a lot of metaphors and such...
English - try to understand what's being said
Eastern European language - try to understand what's being said and what might have been said
Japanese - try to understand what's being said, what might have been said... and also what wasn't said at all

Oh, and - yes girl power and such! The "gap" between the maid uniforms and the music they play is by design. The "second gap" - between their music and their offstage mannerisms is an even bigger one ! You only have seen a little glimpse of it after the jam with Herman Li. The whole interview/stream Herman did with them was pure gold.
It's definitely one of the *girliest* girl bands!

would love to see your reaction to About Us by Band Maid.. its a love letter they wrote to fans in preparation for there first live performance since covid. wich was ment to be at Budokan festivival wich i beleive is a perform by invitation only event in japan it was cancelled however so they performed for 2 1/2 hours on a live stream including this song and a heartfelt speech by the lead singer who despite being a force on stage and able to command crowds it generally quiet and leaves most of the talking to Miku. despite it being a song that is in no way like their normal music fans went and still do crazy over it. i would love as would all madiacs to hear you vocal analysis of the song. thanks sorry for the paragraph :D

But maybe you wan to react to Nemophila " Dissension". It' s a newer All Girls Rock Band and they are great. Built by Saki, the best guitar player on this planet, from different other bands. Their music is a little more metal than Bandmaid, but also amazing.
