    I'm new to these shears but I have a new rescue dog with very thick hair so I thought I'd give them a try. I've checked out a few different videos and found yours the most informative especially since you actually showed how to use them on the dog.

    Lovely eyelashes! I didn’t learn any of this in grooming school! I was just taught about blending shears and chunkers but not what the differences were or what they did except that thinning shears were good for erasing your mistakes and chunkers were more for taking out more hair. I knew there were different kinds of shears out there from looking at different grooming tool sights but not taught in school when to specifically use them, only where. Seems my whole grooming education could have saved me $2400 if I just came to RUclips for free because they don’t teach stuff like this.

    I urgently need some help with picking a decent set of shears for my poodle and small dogs. I need a straight set and some texturing ones. You had such lovely scissors on display. Could you please tell me some brands you like - both Japanese, German, Italian, US - high quality scissors for doing mini poodle legs, head, tail, and texturizing Maltese and Yorkies. I would be so grateful. Its impossible to select scissors online as you cannot try them in your hand.

    Very helpful explanations! Thanks so much. I am left-handed. Will this affect my using blending shears on my Maltepoo?
    She is very afraid of grooming. So Ive been cutting her hair for years (6+) just with 4" Miracle Coat shears with the ball tip. The first few days after, she does look a little "chopped up", but then her hair settles & she looks quite nice. The blending scissors will make a world of difference

    Hi, I just rescued and adopted a 18 month old Mal-Shi. She does great bathing but I’m not sure about grooming. I’ve never groomed before, always took my 12 lb Yorkie poo to the groomers. I’m considering doing her groom after watching several videos. I prefer you to another popular groomer, GoGroomer. She has lots of info but you don’t go as fast and explain it better. Would you recommend a clipper like Wahl KM10 for overall with 4,5 and 7 and scissors OR just scissors and a smaller face clipper?

    • @LoveofGrooming
      @LoveofGrooming  2 года назад +2

      Hi, a clipper is best to get the one length all over and its easier and quicker then using scissors.

    Thank you for doing this video. I’m not a professional groomer but with this lockdown in the Uk I had to try help my 2 double coated Romanian Mioritic Sheepdogs get rid of some hair. I have been trying to use the thinning shears but I’m sure I am not holding them correctly or I probably open them too much because the two blades tend to catch each other. Arghhh. Your hand movement seems to be very limited with these trimmers, I’ll try and see how I get on.

    Thank you, I appreciate your video. The only thing... I wish you commented on which are good and which are not really so good. I read many reviews, and in some people write very nice review while others complain of not being sharp and not really cutting. so, what brand you recommend ? Thank you !

    • @LoveofGrooming
      @LoveofGrooming  4 года назад +5

      Hi, unfortunately any brand can produce a bad scissor while the majority is excellent.
      The same goes for anything you buy. You could buy 100 top quality of anything and there will always be one that does not work or it's missing a piece etc. Most reviews are about disappointments and hardly anyone leaves a good review. There are also brands that are not good quality ever.
      My best brands are kenchii, geib, and Chris Christensen. I have received a kenchii that did not work but it was replaced with a good one.
      If you see tons of bad reviews then avoid that brand.

      Yes, by an experienced dog grooming sharpener

    • @LoveofGrooming
      @LoveofGrooming  5 лет назад +2

      Great question. I forgot to mention about sharpening.
      Yes they can be sharpened but only the straight blade. With the thinner which has teeth on both sides you would have to find a very experienced sharpener because the notches would have to hand honed sharpened.
      I once brought my thinners to a sharpener and he sharpened the toothed side and took the knotches right off 😮. The shears were useless after that. So make sure your sharpener is experienced and ask him how he sharpens thinners.
