I’ve watched your video so many times to do one of my shih Tzus cuts. He was the chocolate color as well. I came back to it to refresh for my other shih Tzus cut. Thank you so much you are awesome
This type of cut is so natural and you can't even tell how long the dogs hair gets. It's a gorgeous dog and the layers allow the variety of colors to really stand out. Bravo
The technique used on the front legs is awesome. I am in the market for a new pair of shears, and stumbled upon this video. Thank you for sharing such wonderful tips!
love it~ what I've always known as a peoples hairstylist (thinning shears) you've done as a dog stylist! Now that I groom dogs, I still want to use those shears....you've proved my point! I thought I was going crazy, because I kept wanting to use those shears more than the clippers!! Glad to see someone else have the same thoughts!!
I love your grooming videos. I have a Biewer Terrier. Groomers I have taken her to NEVER do a complete grooming on her. I asked that her back hair be thinned out, specially by her tail. Ears and face to be trimmed which they don't do as well. I bought thinning shears and followed you on this video. Did the grooming myself. She looks pretty cute! Thanks for your videos
Most helpful in learning how to cut down my Shih Tzu’s. Breed & Show & have always kept them in coat even after their Championship title. Thank You oceans. Your video is the best on RUclips. 💛👍🇺🇸
This is a very nice demo. I never though about using a thinning shear opposed to a snap on comb. This would be an amazing method to use on thin coated pet Cocker Spaniels. Well done Jonathan.
I love to watch this man groom. I wish I still had that kind of dexterity ...getting old as a groomer is hard . Back, neck ,hips, feet. And of course good ole carpel tunnel.
This was beautiful to see ☺ very nice groom ,nice lines 😁and yes I loved it so much more than a clipper cut ,very nice !! You do beautiful work ! Wish we had grommers like you 💙
This turned out beautiful. Lots of soft lines and smoothness. My only worry would be fatigue in my hand and arm (already have carpal tunnel) from the constant trim and pull. I have a lot of new soft coated drop coat puppies lately so i may definitely give this a run. I have geib 42 thinners but don't work as nicely as yours. Thanks for the video!
I love using the thinning shears and the 21 teeth blenders....everything ends up looking so natural and lays right. Clippers and snap on combs just don't do well on certain coat types...also the dog is so much more relaxed when scissoring as opposed to the buzzing vibration of clippers. You do nice work!
Looks wonderful and I could definitely do it but for 46-56 dollars I think I'll use a comb first then clean up with thinners as if I wear out my hands and wrists I won't be grooming. Many outher things I took from this though also. Beautiful!!!
Fabulous! Exactly what I needed right now :-) I've gotta look to see if you have another video for the ears! Were you a hair stylist previously? The way you hold your shears...
I know this video is older but I have used his techniques for 2 of my shin Tzus. Nobody does scissor cutting and if they do first they do a clipper on the dog. I only scissor. I am afraid of a clipper and choose not to use one. I really wish there were more groomers who showed a scissor cut especially on a longer coated dog. I am comfortable with scissors but I can’t seem to get the hang of a thinning or blending shear. Also I’m left handed. Not too many tools for lefties
Thank you for the video, best one I have seen yet. I'm just learning and trying to teach my self, you make it look so easy. How do you know when buying a blending comb how many teeth to get?
This is an amazing technique! I hate that you used the term "puppy cut" just because it means a thousand different things. You were amazing at teaching this!
Le chien est magnifique et gentil.ala fin il doit avoir une petite tête d amour.c est très beau. Mr quel beau metier. Le chien a confiance il est amusant.bravo
I'm getting 2 Havapoo Puppies, 8 weeks old. I am a hairdresser &I have thinning shears, would these be ok to use on my puppies, I don't think there's any difference in thinning shears but I'm not any dog grooming like you. You are Fantastic. I really need to groom them myself because of expense but I want to do it SAFE & Right. I love the puppies long curly coat so I won't be doing this too soon but want to get a handle before. I also need knowledge of nail cutting. This set up with the head being held with this apparatus is essential, Right? Any help you can give me would be VERY APPRECIATED. Thank you so much.
I like the cut but as I don't visit the groomer as I do my own trims, is this how the dogs are normally handled? I don't like the lifting by the neck and the handling in general seems a little bit rough.
The dog is turning out beautiful, however, I wish these Master groomers would do a video like this but with a dog that is all over the place ,never stays still.
wonderful demonstration. I just hated the fact he used the "puppy cut" term because IT IS NOT A GENERAL THING AND NEVER WILL BE!!! Other than that excellent cut and super well behaved dog.
@@whitney3258 Which is a very vague term. What is puppy cut???? #10 all over??? This is same length! Or maybe a 3F ???? Or longer all over???? Puppy cut is not a thing and it is wrongly used. Just say what length you want all over. Because just saying "puppy cut" does not mean anything and leads to huge miscomunication.
lets say client wants 1 inch all over, where do you set you guide, to match the whole body to the length desire? so you wont have one leg longer than other
Sir, you are the best I have ever watched. I love the way you explain everything you are doing!
Can we all just take a moment and appreciate what a good little dog this is.
for sure, that is a 20 min stand with no fussing at all ,.. great little pup!!
@@Annabelle511 Obviously used to being groomed,
Definitely!
I love watching you work, so helpful and the scissor noise is so soothing!
Excellent instructions. I enjoyed every aspect of your presentation. You also handeled the dog with gentle kindness.👍👍👍👍

For the life of me, I don't know how you cut so fast without cutting the dog? Very impressive!
Love that you follow the anatomy of the dog, not the standard of the breed.
You are the best David. Thank you 💕💕💕
Super clear instructions! I'm just learning, and your videos are soo helpful ! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skill.
I was afraid to use clippers and your video taught me the scissors method. I did get clippers but I still like the scissor method as well
Beautiful, and all without clippers!! Wish you had been close by when I had my springers!
The technique used on the front legs is awesome. I am in the market for a new pair of shears, and stumbled upon this video. Thank you for sharing such wonderful tips!
Love the cool technique on the muzzle!! 👏🏽
Amazing! I need those sharp thinning shears! I hope smaller size sheers are available for my little 8-pound 2-year-old pup!

I'm just here for the haircut sounds and of course the adorable dog!
The nicest cut i’ve seen! Love this method!

And she does not like electric shavers at all. Was traumatized by a groomer her 1st time
Omg love!! I have been watching a lot of videos in hopes to improving my technique, this was by far the best instructional video!
My goodness you make it look so easy!!!! And my shih tzu being black does not help me at all on how to cut!! Amazing job!
Beautiful lines on this dog. Very well explained and demonstrated. Thank you.

That dog is a really good dog😲! He knows exactly what to do☺!
Beautiful work! Would love to have him give my Shihtzu and cockapoo a haircut!

What a darling little dog!
Thank you for such a clear and well presented demo
Looks so nice. I am not sure if I can do a haircut fast enough without using attachment combs but this does look much nicer.
He is definately a Master.
pity you don't live near me! lovely cut! i have 2 year lhasa Apso will give this a go
What a makeover! Great Job.
Puppy cuts are the best in my opinion! Very easy to maintain, and looks very cute. Thats what i do to my yorkiepoo!
I wish this groomer could trim my dog! Very nice. thxs for the demo

He makes it look so easy
THE DOGGY IS SO CUTE 😭😍
Stunning! And the dogs not bad either.

Phenomenal! Jonathan David is awesome!
Good job nicely done Man. . . .
Love the way it turned out!
Fabulous! Exactly what I needed right now :-) I've gotta look to see if you have another video for the ears!

I finally found a dog just like mine. I want to do this on my dogs but never found one just like mine. Thank you very much
Great cut! Good dog!
Beautifully done..
Nice job Johnathan David.
Beautiful job
My dog is the same breed as him(shorkie). Beautiful dog very calm ❤️💛💚🧡💜💙🖤✂️🐾
Nice job you have done. Thanks .
He makes it look so easy, I have a Shih Tzu mix that I want to try grooming myself. We'll see what happens, my poor little Missie...
Adorable cut lovely

A true professional
amazingly adorable, thanks I love it.

I literally just commented the same thing. haha
Agreed! Idk wtf a “puppy cut” is 😹
Actually puppy cut means exactly what he's doing. "The same length all over"
Awesome man, Thank you!
super job, are those really only 7 inch blenders?
You're amazing
please tell me this guy has a youtube channel... I'm a grooming apprentices and I could watch him work on dogs all day.
You are so good
Le chien est magnifique et gentil.ala fin il doit avoir une petite tête d amour.c est très beau. Mr quel beau metier. Le chien a confiance il est amusant.bravo
Thankyou
Most of the customers I deal with are too cheap and don’t want to pay the price for a full body scissoring haircut, that’s why I prefer guard combs.

i love it! are you in California? specifically Southern California? i'd love to take my puppy to you for grooming!
How much Jonathan charges for a full hair cut ? Especially a Bichon. Thank you for info.
Merci de me donner la marque du ciseau utilisé sur la vidéo pour effilé
Bravo!
how many inches is the haircut?
Adorable
Le top le meilleur j aimerais le voir en france dans mon salon à bordeaux bouteille a la mer invitation
Nice cut.
Personally, I'd like the ears shortened, but I understand that most people like the long girly ears.
Muito bom 👏👏👏
bonjour , es ce que les ciseaux éffileur courbé ces bon ?? ou sa ne vos pas la peine d'en acheter
Can I use thinning shears on a poodle?
How many teeth does this blending shear have?
Very nicely done, even though I don't like how he is blowing the dog in the face
I like the cut but as I don't visit the groomer as I do my own trims, is this how the dogs are normally handled? I don't like the lifting by the neck and the handling in general seems a little bit rough.
I have been grooming 15 years. He is precise but not rough. If he were rough the dog would not be so relaxed. He's very skilled.
How can one get a Lighting thinning shear by Kenchi? Only the Chi thinning shear is available on the Internet or Pet Smart.
you can order directly from kenchii website
what is the name of the spray for finish the scissor work?
como se llama el programa de animal planet donde competia el
The dog is turning out beautiful, however, I wish these Master groomers would do a video like this but with a dog that is all over the place ,never stays still.
J HARR I will make one🙂
I am curious as to why we dont these pros working on difficult dogs doing these techniques.
11:34 dog says uve got bad breath.
I like your still
