lol seeing Beyonce vibing to this reminds me when her & Aaliyah were at the mtv awards saying they couldn’t wait to see D’Angelo perform because he’s fine😭😭
Hahahah i remember
Omg I remember 🥰
What a band EP, that particular performance must have been such a blast. Maybe you could get him to take a job running a band on late night TV. I pray for his health and safety and his fulfillment.
omg I was thinking the exact same thing 😅
i mean he fine asf 😭
This gave me Prince meets James Brown funkiness!!! Smothered pork chops, collard greens, ham hocks, pigs feet and chitlins kind of funky. Beyoncé was feelin' it!!
King Conscience. And Common was feeling it too.
100%
If you don't feel this you're dead :))
For sho’!!!!!🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Apparently it was initially supposed to be a tribute song to Prince.
REAL MUSICIANS KNOW WHAT THIS IS!!!! Look at Jamie Fox and Kanye face expressions!!! That face is a musician saying to himself.... “He killing this shit!!! Got damn it them chords” 😂😂😂😂😂 You’re watching a live shed session, meaning everybody play one beat and each musician just had their moment to shine. Look at the crowd and you’ll see who are “artists” and you are the REAL MUSICIANS in the room!
You nailed it! This is what the youth needs to hear more. This is the real shit. The most recent album he came out with is genius. I didnt know he was that much of a badass as a musician.
Facts!
This entire performance was music clinic lol! Even the aux timing and chords was a beast. I’m a musician (drummer) and I would gladly play pocket with no solo for this LMAO!!!!
Danny you saw Nikki Minaj face! It was like “what’s this music” 😂
Jay Mack LMAOO I KNOW, flew right over her head
The concentration on Jamie Foxx face is priceless.
Ntobeko Mtimkulu 😂 it is
Haha dude is FOCUSED.
He was mesmerized
Indeed, he made up for the lost faces in the crowd... How can someone who's in the music biz not feel the raw talent and passion?!
His learning, more than listening. This D guy is very talented.
D’Angelo PLEASEEEEE COME BACK!!! We don’t care what you look like or none of that just please give us some more good music!!! You are truly amazing
Jamie Foxx seemed so focused, like he wasn't even breathing :)), he really felt it (remember his hilarious parody of How Does It Feel back in the day)...
Yessß
ROFLLLLLL I remember!!!!
Yo Jamie Foxx is watching and wishing he put together a set like that
hahahahaha
Well, Jamie is a talented musician in his own right... And a talented actor, comedian, and all-round great, fun to hang out with guy, IMHO.
D'Angelo killed it, put some respect on his name 😁😎✌️
on goddd
Damn right. Put some RESPEK on his name!
SMH, most of the audience don't even know what they are watching. There's a funk crisis in our community!
Foreal good music
Make it funky one more time!
Yea they wasn’t moved enough by that musicianship
It is not a lack of courage. It is not the lack of desire. It is the lack of...FUNK!
Straight up!
You can tell Jamie is a musician he’s admiring and internalizing what he’s hearing … probably hearing /visualizing the scales he’s hearing. I’m the same way lol
At least Queen B was standing because the rest don't know what to do when they hear good music.
For the record Beyoncé loves her some D’Angelo 😂
I don’t know why, but “Untitled” makes me feel so homesick for a long forgotten place that I can’t quite remember.
The stiff faced and unenthusiastic majority of the crowd shocks me. Probably one of the best BET award live performances I've ever seen. Vocals check. Instrumentals check. Stage presence check. This is what I call a solid standing ovation performance.
I think everyone was shook lol 😆
Don't worry about the haters...he did that!!🤯👏🏾👏🏾
I agree a great performance!!!!!
It's called watching. 🙄
Yeah he had them in awe in complete trans-fixation and on their feet moving. I BET there was many there that hadn't done that in years, hence looking a little stiff but a lot looser on the inside after that performance!
Cant nobody take what God gives.. This man is still talented. Go head brother I see ya......
3:52 Jamie Foxx is really focus on that shit LOL
Only a select few artist can make an album or a song with years in between releases and be accepted with open arms!
And to me that's Sade, Maxwell and D'Angelo!!!
D'Angelo does not get the recognition he deserves! He is a Classic King 👑
Prince as well.
@@SEEKEROFALLTRUTHS614 Preach..Respect.
Yes!!!!!!!!!!
Takes a king to know a king
So true and those are my 3 faves!♥️♥️♥️
Musicians who sound better live are rare and they have to be treasured. This is some of the realest talent out there.
D'Angelo channeled his inner Prince for this sound 🎶🎵💪🏽🖤
He’s so gifted. Truly an inspiration.
3:51🤣🤣🤣 Jamie Fox face lmao and that crowd was so weak.
We as a culture don’t deserve D’Angelo. 😢
I remember when he came out and social media ripped him apart cause he didn’t look the same as he did in the untitled video smh. Everyone was like “who dug him up outta his grave” I think blk ppl are the harshest to each other. So sad. This dude is talented and never wanted to be a sex symbol.
I Remember that. Twitter was going off but it was our generation hating. I was upset defending this man online 🙌🏾😩. I remember
Exactly sis I always loved D ‘Angelo he is a very talented person I will always love his music and voice
Some people are harsh period no matter skin tone
People being negative on social media are low lives. Not to be paid attention to. Most of which have never accomplished anything of note.
So true him and many other talented underrated artists
D'Angelo just pure soul sung from the heart, brilliant
This performance was a Whole Vibe. Loved seeing Bey & Sola grooving to it
One of THE best moments of the BET AWARDS and in music PERIOD!! REAL MUSIC!!
Jamie Foxx was studying!!
Lolz he was looking intensely too. 😂🤣😂🤣
😂
They were switching chords like crazy, he was trying to follow lol
Aaron Smith And so was Kanye and Trey Songz. And Nicki Minaj was dumbfounded and confused lmao.
@@Walking-MY-Path Nicki really did look confused though
surprised at how many people are sitting. wow.
It saddens me that music like this isn’t appreciated as much as it was and should be. But people like me and you and many others know what real music is.
Prince influences all over this.... amazing 👌😁
No, it's James Brown 😭😭😭
It's really was James brown
Theres more in Prince in this...and some James Brown influence
I got ray charles vibes when he was on the piano. James brown vibes after that
I think, as far as his approach to his music, D'Angelo is more like Donny Hathaway. Don't forget, Prince stole his style from lots of people - James Brown, Sly Stone, Jimi Hendrix especially.
And this the performance that changed Solange approach to music.
They need a collaboration
Wait, when did Solange say this?
@@dreamergirlbaby she didn't
But hell compare the album she put out before 2012 and then after 2012
It's clear something inspired her to switch up the sound
Solange always had that avant garde r&b sound. I mean look at Hadley St. Dreams or Sol Angel. A Seat At The Table was just waaayyy more successful and was right on time.
But she already had songs like her current style before this performance.
Best concert I’ve ever been to in my life was D’Angelo. Underrated AF.
He has a new single out called unshaken. It’s fire!!
Aaron Smith is it on itunes
Yes. It came out in Jan. It’s real spiritual. It has a gospel feel to it
ruclips.net/video/L0AykH20X3Q/видео.html
Aaron Smith oh I downloaded as soon as I saw your comment lbvs! Yes it spoke to my soul
Likewise!! It gives me a feeling, of perseverance. To stand unshaken, no matter what we’re up against.
Damn, what a performance! D'angelo please come out of wherever you're hiding and bless us with another great album. A North America tour would also be appreciated!
He’s on Instagram now
A Pure Legend! The James Brown of His Era with his creativity!!! Give him his credit! One of my biggest inspirations with music!
James Brown?
@alvinnelson7539 yes the James Brown of His Era most definitely!
D'Angelo brought the sexy, funky, religious vibes and rolled them all into one in this performance. I never want to recover from this experience.
His voice is amazing!!
A master class in funk and musicianship. Everybody sitting there studying D'Angelo.
And it only took BET 7 years to upload his performance...
This performance had Prince's influence written all over it 💜 Great work though!
You gotta go to his influences, James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Harlem Renaissance jazz & numerous Gospel artist to get the whole spectrum of that performance...OUR HISTORY!
Yeah ...... Prince is all over this.
dont forget about Sly Stone. "shadrak messhak, abednego" from loose booty was use as an element of devil' s pie song whose structure and groove are the foundation of tha sugar daddy song.
And the Godfather, James Brown, which Influenced Prince, likewise.
Don't leave out Reverend Al Green! This man is Brilliance Personified!
Why am I still excited like the first time I watched this!!!!
#myfavorite😍
This man here. I could listen to him all day and never get tired. Talentttttttted
The most underrated Artist in my opinion 🤦🏽♂️. Which his why he’s my favorite. A true musician/artist in the Purest form. CD, Pino, & Isaiah Sharkey are locked in as usual 🔥
That whole performance flew over a top of peoples heads. But Everyone standing and making faces knows exactly what he’s about and knows that he means business. Especially Jamie 😂. He’s an Artist’s Artist 💪🏾
D i think keyon harold is up there too on horn, and Jermaine Holmes on back up vocals.
Jesse Johnson (The Time) on guitar
Dope musician man👊🏿🔥👏🏿
1 of the best Bet awards performances of all time
Who Remember when Jamie did D'Angelo on The Jamie Foxx Show ... untitled how does it feel song 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Apopkaking lmaooo Yep I do
Me, 😂
You can hear the James Brown inspiration 🙌🏾🙏🏾
...and Prince
@@b_eazy1887 ........and Al Green.
The Chosen One!
These people don't know how to ENJOY D'Angelo!
That man is a BEAST!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow still has that same beautiful voice 💙
PRINCE, PRINCE PRINCE
It’s crazy how a lot of people (including myself) been looking for this video! Pure jam session! I love it
3:52 Jamie’s face...while everyone else is grooving he’s STUDYING.
OMG I MISS HIM AND HIS MUSIC HE WAS SO BEAUTIFUL 💓💓💓💓💓
What do you mean ? It's not like he passed away or anything. And Black Messiah is only like 4 1/2 years ago, which in D'Angelo time is like yesterday :)
He still is
@@beatz04 true talk ✌🏽 unfortunatley he cancelled 2 dates in London that I had tickets for last year but was lucky to see his show before this which was incredible
TERESA CRAWFORD/, HE IS STILL BEAUTIFUL!!
he’s handsome___ all MAN
THE LOOK ON JAMIE FOXX FACE. He looks like a student taking in every note . Like ims steal some of this ish😅
Why did he not get a standing ovation? Gosh I miss good music
Alot of them were already standing
Prince influenced!!! Even his stage set up! Great job!
Artist with bands & band ties...D'angelo
I like how he is talented in the delivery of having a stage presence that bring life to music & his band....many artist cannot work a stage like him(shout out to Gap band...shout out to Ron isley band shout out to Barry white band shout out to James Brown band shout out to Prince & his band shout out to earth wind and fire band & parliament band and shout out to the Roots band) to those i didnt mention like Teddy Riley's band....."MINT CONDITION" band and honourable mentions...thank you for being extraordinary musicians
MrROCKMUZK yesssss
This made me laugh reading all them shoutouts 😂
@@apollospayne lmao...it was like "I was getting a dam award lmao!"

@@MrROCKMUZK Don't forget to Thank Bootsy Collins and Sly and the Family Stone! I think the music started playing and they cut off your mic! lol! I hate it when that happens to me.
Pino's presence and playing just stabilizes any stage and venue. Just something about his bass lines that just fits into a song like the piece of a puzzle.
Class was in session that night they just weren't paying attention.
Word!
Brown Sugar was my fav weed song.
D’angelo will always do it for me. I was in HS rocking these albums!!
He is probably the greatest male vocalist in history. I've never come across a singer who is in more control his voice. It's unrral.
Chris brown will slaughter him vocally
@@cynthiagipson8039 eh, physically maybe
Oh Lawd pino back there killin
You can't go wrong with Pino Palladino on bass in your band... this is just soooo good
My Soul Glows !!!! I Respect This Genius Fine Handsome Talent God Fearing & Protectect Property !!!
Common knew what time it was 👏🏾🔥💃🏽
Jamie Foxx be looking serious af appreciating D'angelo 😂
I was at one of his first shows back from his long hiatus, in London. It was incredible, I've never experienced anything like it. He was not the headliner but when his set was over the crowd genuinely was done and left. The majority of people came to see him and only him at the festival
THIS is real musicianship at work. That audience is sad 😂
This performance helped me let go of some traumatic events. Thank you D’angelo.
I spoke this upload into existence. I was trying to find this performance.
Courtney Ward I've been looking since it aired 7 years ago lol They answered our prayers lol
Chris Dave, D'Angelo, Pino, Sharkey......you cant get any better!! I would like to say the crowd was just stunned instead of dead. This gave me the chills
This is my 3rd time watching this today. Man I miss that REAL!!!
One of the great OGs of Neo Soul. Loved the James Brown influence at the end. Soooooooo funky.
He is still gifted and talented!😊👐🏼💜
HE SOUND LIKE THE RECORD
Soul brother
The guy brought Pino, Isaiah and provided himself an amazing performance, this is crazy good. Food for typical RNB listeners but also for jazz aficionados
Man this has to be one of the best live performances ... better yet let me run this back again
Sheesh....I can imagine HER at home bopping to this in 2012. She's like I got next D!
❤️❤️💯
D’Angelo is the truth!
Pino and Chris Dave...yeah, that works.
This man is a legend. A lot of young artists are out here making a name for themselves because of what this man created
A Masterpiece that D’Angelo is
At the 6 min mark Is When Pino starts wildin. Sheesh!!
Amen to that
Why isn't anybody talking about Ye's face in the background. lmao he totally gets it
And also the girl in the black dress behind Beyonce and Solange. I felt like only she and Kanye really appreciated D.
Now this is music!!!!
Pure talented !!!
I need him to sing at my wedding😁
Still listening 2021
The crowd dont know what to do with this type of music!
you got one of the greatest soul artists up there with one of the best bass players and guitar players no wonder this is such a jam!!!
3:00 Kanye Got The Stank Face😂😂
@Kenneth Mitcham LOOOOOOL
I love me some D'Angelo 😭this is real music and anyone else who says otherwise gotta go 🤦🙆there's no body like him
that’s how you rock a joint. that ole school p funk style. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Now THIS is a performer, goddamn
solange be like "this will be my next album"
D'Angelo and this amazing band should be able to play everyday! 'Cause everybody needs the funk right (; Where are you D'Angelo??! We miss you!!!
D'Angelo deprived the world of his unmatched musical talent. The godfather of Neo Soul! Man sings, plays piano, organ, bass, guitar, and drums.
OMG, Pino murdered that bass!
Facts
Boiiiii... D'Angelo. When I first began to listen to him years ago, his songs always put me in a private club, sitting at a table in a white flowing dress, clouds flowing low and he was center stage exposing my intimacy where the eyes couldn't see. He still has it. That band and background is bad to the bones.
Closing out 2019 with some Real Oldschool R&B
That is a damn solid rhythm section if i ever heard one. Just holding down that groove. Pino killing it as always.
Wow. He’s TALENTED.
Hes the truth
1 Bey knows about that FUNK 🎸 She gets down & Her song 'Rocket' was inspired by how does it feel
2 The audience was so dry. D'angelo's genius wont be truly appreciated and honored until hes dead. As a society most of us have been programmed to appreciate, sing along, download and dance to watered down pop, the sex'd up misogynistic music theyre calling rnb and mumumble rap. Sad
3 2:30 may have gotten me pregnant
Ok bye 🖐🏾
if only you knew the lyrics to this song (it doesn't matter tho it's perfect music)
She looked so flawless too, love her dress😍#bey who agrees?
Well, I guess our pregnancies will result in half siblings. Lmbo 😅😂
Bey didn't even write Rocket, Miguel did.
I get that you like Bey, but not only is she NOT in D'Angelo's category, or atmosphere, she would have known about funk or GoGo if it weren't for A'merie. D'Angelo is so far out there that he took several seats knowing that his talent wasn't appreciated. Ironically, the best black artists of our time have always been more supported and appreciated by foreigners overseas. Bey's daddy taught her to be an imitator who knows one thing and one thing only; how to manipulate and make bank.
