My professor only "touched" this lesson and expected us to do it on our own. This video made it seem like a breeze! Highly recommended. 10/10!

Do you need to square the T(90) for the equation since it's the square root?

Hello, good question, its not so obvious from the video. Your x-axis reading will give you a number that is = square root t90. If you square this number you will get t90. So if your x axis reading is 14 (sq root days) your t90 will be 196 days. That means 196 days to reach 90% consolidation. Pop this into the equation to calculate cv

Hi Sir. Does coefficient of consolidation change with stress increment? For instance, Cv = 1.5 for increased effective stress 100 but = 2.0 for increased effective stress of 200? Or is it constant throughout.

The coefficient of consolidation is directly related to the permeability of the soil. So as the soil consolidates, the soil permeability decreases and the Cv will decrease. You find this when you do the root time method of different load increments of the oedometer test.

Thank you, it was interesting. May I know what is Mv?

Thanks for the comment...Mv is the coefficient of volume compressibility, it's introduced in VL21 and 22.

How to find d i dont understand

d is the diameter of oedometer apparatus. Measure it manually or it's already mentioned in test manual.
