I think it's important to remember that many people associate skateboarding with tricks but thats not necessarily true. If you just enjoy riding around on your board and surfing the pavement there's nothing wrong with that. That's actually how it started anyway.
People who really ride develop better style than people who just slam tricks anyway. Look at Daewon. Enjoy the act of riding around on a board and go from there.
Important note on falling: breaking the fall with your wrist can break your wrist, rolling with the fall will decrease impact(like in Legend of zelda). And also don't try to save the board, YOU CAN BUY A NEW DECK BUT YOU CANT BUY A NEW YOU
That’s what it’s all about. Teaching the masses skating. I’m an experienced skater but I watched the whole video. I liked how when you explained turning that you brought up turning your head and shoulders in the direction you want to go. VERY IMPORTANT. I’ve tried to teach lots of people who don’t understand then once you tell them that they get it first try!
This actually applies to tight turns in motorcycles too. If you have to do a 180 turn, turn your head and shoulders and the body just kind of follows (and ofc the bike)
I ride goofy. My friends tend to wonder why when I’m right handed. I think it’s worth mentioning that hand dominance has no say in what way you prefer to ride.

1:42 I love you for mentioning the slide test. You are so right. I could have done with hearing this when I started 😊 I should have been goofy and I've been skating regular for thirty eight years 😊 Coming in handy for skating switch now though
When I slide like that I go goofy but it's super uncomfortable and unbalanced when on a board goofy, just started skating October 2020 and I went regular even after hearing Aaron Kyro talk about the slide test as way to figure out goofy or reg.
Both of my parents ride regular but all four children ride goofy. Parents should've been goofy too, but everyone in their demographic back in the 70s/80s was taught to push mongo.
As a new skater and getting a bit demotivated (struggling with ollies). After watching this video I've realised I have improved so much and can do everything on this video. Big thanks.
Cheers! Love that no matter how out there some episodes can get you guys always bring it back to what this channel stands for and that's getting people skating! Happy Holidays to the entire Braille family!
For a beginner, learning to push on a board with hard 52mm wheels on regular road asphalt feels TERRIBLE. I picked up a cheap set of 58mm soft cruiser wheels on Amazon, and that made a huge difference. Quickly learned to ride around after that.

I never had much of an interest in it besides playing skate 3 when I was like 8 but other than that I never thought about picking up skating. I've gone back to mostly just pushing, and cruising. Also working on switch. It's feels slow, but it will pay off in the long run. An easy way to remember frontside rotation, is if you're coming from the bottom of a pool to the top, your rotation is frontside if your front faces outside the pool. Can't remember backside. :)

@@toastielol9246 so far i can stand on the board and I’m working on my pushing :) idk if this happened to anyone else but like my lower back tailbone area is kinda hurting and I haven’t fallen yet so yeah idk why
In indoor and outdoor track and field at my school to figure out which foot you jump off of for high jumping we would push each other (not very hard, only enough to move you forward a tiny bit) and whichever foot you put out to catch you as a reflex you were to use for jumping off.
Another way to tell which foot is more (dominant?) is to have someone push you forward slightly and whatever foot you put out to stop the fall if the one you keep on the board while skating
Today I decided that I want to start with skateboarding. I already watched like 5 videos from you. And now I found out that you made video for beginners yesterday. If this isn’t sigh I don’t know what else is.

I find rotating / shuffling on one foot. Keep your weight on it but more on your heel or ball of your foot, and rotate around that. That way you dont have to put loads of wait on the other foot, v important when 'the other' foot is on the tail and extra wait would pop the board up. For example when you switch from pushing to riding stance, I rotate (and kinda shuffle as well I guess) around the ball of my front foot. Main point is to not take too much wait off, at least if the other foots on the tail / nose
