      I can't remember which channel it was, but I was suspicious of the coverage as soon as that war was declared. it had a rolling red and white banner showing the words 'War on Terror' over and over for hours on end. The brainwashing of the public mind couldn't have been more blatant, and yet many wouldn't have noticed. and after the initial success, there was Andrew Marr saying that Tony Blair had been vindicated and proven all his critics wrong. If you don't watch bbc but have a TV you have to pay the licence fee by law. It's a tax on T.V! That's what is wrong about it! We pay the licence to not watch adverts on one channel! The other channels are free because they run adverts, which is fine by me! But if you buy a T.V you a meant to pay the licence fee by law! You can get rid of your T.V and watch all channels online except bbc, because that goes through iplayer, which you're meant to have a licence to watch. When logging on to that, they just ask, do you have a licence, you click yes and you're in. I don't know how they check on that? Can't remember if the first time they ask for your address? But you can watch everything else for free, except on demand, which you pay for of course, but you don't need a licence, just a subscription. All T.V should be free! ✌️

Back then they cut all their truly local content (so not truly 'local' at all) and had nothing to say to younger people (so nothing for the next generation).

    The T.V license is too expensive, it's too much for poorer people to pay, especially if you hardly watch bbc, but you have a TV, then you have to pay, it's wrong! They used to put people in prison for not paying which is outrageous! Now it's a fine, which many never pay. In my view all T.V should be free. Bbc could be like ch 4 which is public broadcasting but runs adverts so it's free! Fine with me! We pay £169 a year just to not watch adverts on one channel! The system needs to change for funding the bbc. The current system is outdated. It's a tax on T.V, it's crazy!

    • @eileencritchley4630
      @eileencritchley4630 Месяц назад

      That's because it's a TV license it's even in the name and you can't legally turn on your TV without one. A TV is anything this with a receiver in it that picks up any of our TV stations. So go ahead stop paying it but you better not be watching a TV.

    • @sandrafrancis3631
      @sandrafrancis3631 Месяц назад

      @eileencritchley4630 you can turn on your TV, and watch catch up TV, but you can't watch any live TV whether it's bbc or Sky which you also pay for, or even watching live TV on youtube, you need a TV licence! It annoys me that if you pay for Sky or some other provider, even if you don't watch the bbc, if you want to watch live TV, you are forced to have a TV licence, which funds the bbc. So you are forced to fund the bbc, even if you hate the bbc, just because you watch other channels live! So, really, we are paying for the bbc to not have adverts ! This is crazy! The bbc could be funded some other way. Like use the lottery to pay for the bbc, or let them run adverts, like channel 4, which is a public broadcasting company paid by adverts and funding, but it's free to us, but it's not because if we watch it live we have to pay for a licence to fund the bbc!! It's a tax on watching TV and should be dropped! 👍

      @@sandrafrancis3631 Not completely correct ok The TV license must be obtain that way if you buy a TV from a shop your name has to be taken down. Reason it has a receive in it to receive the tv stations signals. So if the detect van come's and detects you are using the TV as a TV eg it turned on any TV station not just the BBC but any TV channel you are going to get a fine as you Do Not have a TV License. Period. So many people have been caught out because they've thought your way and 'by 'accident' use their remote and hit the wrong set of buttons or hit the up or down curser. It's not worth the chance. Just pay the dam License.

      @@timg1246 More and more people have cancelled their TV licences now. That's the trend. The licencing authority simply don't have the resources to harass people on their doorsteps every month. That in itself would consume a lot of money from their end. They're at this time trying to plug up holes on their boat but then another hole appears and another one... while the boat continues to sink.
      These people use threats to intimidate us. The threat of intimidation is their tool and this threat is greater than the actual execution of it. They need people to 'believe' in the threat in order for it to work. That's their entire game. Don't fall for the trick.
      They can't do anything and you don't have to let these goons in to survey your living room. If they do show up at your door you don't have to let them in. Just tell them you don't watch anything BBC or any live broadcasts at all so please don't call here again.
      Not being able to watch live broadcasts is an inconvenience for us and they know that. It's a pathetic attempt to make life awkward so we feel compelled to pay for a licence. Again, don't fall for their tricks. You'll be glad you cancelled your licence and only regret not cancelling it earlier.

    When you get that much money, you really do not know what the value of it is. You see it if you work as a small business and suddenly you work with organizations with "too much money to spare" and lack of strategic talent at the top. You very easily can charge them double, triple, quintuple for the same work and they'll take it. Whereby a small organization would look at the exact same money and think of multiple ways to generate "value".
    Ideological capture? In group thinking? The exact same philosophy at work that sees a corporation like Activision-Blizzard cut thousands of jobs, axe dozens of profitable projects, and then give a huge bump to executive pay while all workers suffer.
