Wow - pretty neat to have a song like this which has such a personal connection to your life! I love this song. I’ll have to look for a song telling my story though… “I was born a statisticians son!” lol! But seriously, it’s all about the love - and hearing this song I think of the love and sacrifice of my parents raising us eight kids, and teaching us to love God and each other.

You youngsters don't get it. She is singing about a way of life. She lived this song as did a lot of people from that time. When you don't have nothing, you appreciate things more. A lesson todays kids could use.

+Adrian Miller I believe most people understand this... it's not about just knowing the lesson it's about living the lesson. She lived the lesson many people have lived this lesson. Many people today are fortunate enough to not have to learn this lesson and many more still do. Don't think less of others because they have more pray that they never have to learn this lesson the hard way and instead come to see it for all it's worth.

+Daemon Skycloak I agree with some of what you say... those times were hard, but the kinship and closeness that existed more often than not because of the times, is something that is missing so much today. Yes we do not have physical hardships like then, but the alienation that People feel now, can be just as bad.

I'm a 30 year-old liberal East Coast city dweller (originally from the Rust Belt) and although I've never experienced life like this, and probably don't have much in common with the majority of her fan base, Loretta's music makes me think deeply about everything we have in common, beyond our socioeconomic and political differences. Art connects us, and helps us hear each other's stories. I can't relate to the life of a coal miner, but I can deeply feel that pride for my father's hard physical labor that he exerted every day to provide for me, and the pride I have for my family that prioritized integrity, togetherness, and love over income and status. As times change, we must listen to each other. I've become a huge fan of her music, as well as the music of other classic country artists, over the past year (even visited the Grand Ole Opry!) and I just love it. Thank you Loretta! Art will unite us.

WOW, this is crazy... If you don't believe in God, it will make you question, and if you do believe in God, it will affirm His presence... What happened? Well, this morning, when I stirred at 7:00 a.m., I sat up in bed and, out of the blue, asked Siri about Loretta Lynn... "How old is she?" I said, but without ANY IDEA that she had passed away... None. I sat awhile thinking of her, of what a sweet lady she is... For unknown reasons, my thoughts turned to her... Then, amazingly, from Mom, I received a text: Rest In Peace, Loretta Lynn... 😳. Did God tell my subconscious, He had taken her home? I believe He did, and, yes, it's AMAZING!! 🎻🙏🎻

There wouldn't be country music if there was no Loretta Lynn. RIP
I still listen to her music today. A true legend in her time.

Such honesty, this is real music, from a Woman with real Class. Not the garbage that is played these days from women with no value or talent.

Her singing is genius, her words resonate to anyone who's had to work hard just to survive. This song has always inspired me to be a better father, to always "find the money somewhere" for my family. She's an inspiration to women and men alike, I just love her songs, and I'm not 'country'.

They filmed the movie here in Letcher Co. Tommy Lee Jones stayed in a rental house we owned next door. I took him a plate of food one night, and he said, do you want to be in the movie? I said no, that's just how we are here. A lot of my friends are in it. But I had a job already. At 15 was driving a flatbed delivering concrete blocks to the mines.

I'm 15 and this is my favorite song. Mostly because I know what it's like to not have anything but still be greatful for the food on the table and hand me down clothes from friends and family.im an only child but my mom works to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table and clothes on our backs.my dad and mom divorced when I was young and I only see him on holidays or birthdays, many of my friends are like me greatful and happy with the little they have.

Back in a time, when people appreciated what they had, even if it was little. Saddens me when I see kids just expect so much and never learn the value of a chore to help out their family.

This song sends me chills down my spine! Although i was brought up having money ive seen both sides and a lot of poverty. My grandparents didnt have anything and always did teach us their always of life. He was not a coal miner but was a farmer and struggle a lot in life . this song reminds me of my grandparents lives .... It used to be so simple!!!
