Way to go Cat! So proud of you! It takes a lot of onions to pack up and hit the road. You mention "mistakes". They aren't mistakes, they are learning "moments" The only way to grow and learn is to make mistakes or bad decisions. Life constantly throws you curve balls. Its how you react and recover from them that makes you a better person. All the hard parts will make that beautiful sunset or gorgeous mountain view that much sweeter. Be safe and embrace tomorrow, because you will probably learn something you didn't know yesterday.

That is good point saying "learning" no taking a mistake..

Someone shared with me years ago that “experience” is defined as “that which you gain immediately after you needed it.” Sounds like you are doing an awesome job of handling the process of gaining experience. Learning can be quite fulfilling when we have the right attitude about it, and it is clear that you do. Keep up the good work!

It's good to hear you are doing good, I so look forward to your backpacking trips. I know what you mean when you wake up to such incredible views. Last weekend we backpacked Pictured Rocks. I woke up early and walked part of the trail and beach. I was the only one on the trail. I just watched the sunrise. It was incredible. Just make time to enjoy those wonderful peaceful moments. You are inspiration for others to follow their dreams and just be happy. Life is too short. Stay safe and as always happy hiking and RVing🌞

Catherine, I just found your vlogs by searching on Catalina Island thru-hiking and am now watching this one. Thank you for being someone who appreciates and respects nature and quiet space. I STOPPED watching vloggers like Nomatic Fanatic and several others because of their complete lack of appreciation of nature-riding dirt bikes and parking off trail, having fires in areas with fire bans, leaving trash, running drones in no-drone areas, and so on. Please don't turn into these people just to get the perfect photo or the perfect video. I appreciate what you are doing so far and good luck.

While I've been using a travel trailer for vacations for quite awhile, I'm looking forward to retiring and going full-time at some point in the near future. I'm an east-coaster and not much boon docking in these parts so westward bound I'll be. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Catherine, enjoyed your video of your first month in your truck camper. I'm an avid camper & love the outdoors. I have a little teardrop camper & camp in state parks. Not quite as adventurous as you, but enjoyable. A fantasy of mine has been to sell my house, purchase a 21' camper & see all the national parks. I've visited about five of them so far. I'll probably not sell my house, as I'd prefer to have a permanent address, but I have hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, camped overnight there & hiked back up the next day. What an experience!! Take care & remember, you have all of us out here as friends.

I know this is old now, but I'm catching up on your videos. Continue to be easy on yourself. If you end up in campgrounds more than you planned it's because that's what was needed at the time. Why second-guess yourself? You have a gift for what you're doing - just keep doing it.

Thanks for the honesty. I travel in a very small camper (Four Wheel Camper "Hawk" model) on a solid 4x4 pickup. I've been traveling 3 weeks out of every month, 12 months a year for 3.5 years (I need access to stuff I have at my sticks and bricks home the rest of the time because of commitments). Your experiences in your first month are very common. I think (hope) you'll find that as time goes on fewer and fewer things "break" - because when you fix them they become "better" that they were before. These days, I experience extremely few breakdowns (regular checks and maintenance make it so). When I go in the out back for an extended stay, I have confidence in my gear. I would suggest however that you have either a "SPOT" or "inReach" with you for real emergencies (like a broken leg and such) as unlikely as such things are. They're more for your peace of mind and your family's peace of mind. I just found your channel and plan on catching up with your videos. I appreciate your attitude. When I was young, (I'm in my 70's) "girls" were quite different. I was lucky and married a strong woman and was together with her for many (decades) years. I find it so refreshing to see women like you that are living your life to the full.

Great update. You should be proud of yourself for handling everything, but also for taking the chance to live your dream. Try to not be so hard on yourself. We all make mistakes. On my last trip I left my wallet in the cabin I rented, I was 70 miles away from the cabin and had no gas to get back... what a feeling when I realized what I had done. You are doing great !! I'm glad you talked about not liking really crowded places. I feel the same way, I like having space to relax, etc. It's nice to socialize, but not crammed in like a herd of cattle. Take care. 😀

There is a lot of loneliness in cities. Many people but none are connected to you.
When you are "alone" in the wilderness, you are connected to the world, and you just can't be lonely with that great a connection!
Great video and information about the lifestyle. Wasn't expecting to hear you being so busy, but since your working, that makes sense.
You said you blew your budget... any chance you can detail that in a video. We don't have a camper yet, but we are studying expenses and trying to figure out what it really costs.

: I am a new subscriber. I just happen to run across to your video today. I to live full-time in a truck camper. I live in an Adventurer 89 RB and it is on a F450 Diesel. Like you it is my home and I'm very comfortable in it. Look forward to your videos, I wish you well.

I only recently started following you but I was so excited when I saw you had done this. I have been sharing your camper videos with a couple of like minded girlfriends who are into hiking & photography. I'm an east coaster who goes out west frequently to hike and a truck camper seems so perfect for out west and at some point I know I want to spend an increasing amount of time out west.
Your videos are always so pleasant to watch and you are a great editor. I started watching your hiking videos when I found one for a hike I wanted to do on our upcoming trip. I've often watched trail or location specific hiking videos but I seldom bookmark or follow a particular person or channel but you are definitely an exception.
Be good to yourself. Such a drastic lifestyle change takes a while to settle into and you're well on your way.

Great video, make sure you put Mexico on your radar. Living the mobile lifestyle boils down to just one thing and that's having a safe, secure, affordable AND legal place to park up for the night, night after night. Once you get that sorted out everything else in manageable. Every 14 days roll into a campground, dump the tanks and trash, take on water, do laundry, source provisions, take a LONG hot shower, then repeat.
    Travel safe!

I don't often comment, though I dig your vibe. A very authentic, transparent & real video! I will soon be embarking on a similar lifestyle. Doing everything one can to prepare & plan. Go easy on yourself & be forgiving. No matter how much we research, plan & investigate there is always a learning curve. Keep on trucking Cat!
