I don’t understand how you can have a movie that has Idina Menzel, Minnie Driver and Billy Porter among others and it’s this dull. Also why didn’t they advertise them being in it? It's unbelievably cheesy, the miming is terrible, but there's a strong dose of nostalgia that keeps my coming back for more. For context, I attended Christian summer camp as a kid. And I did genuinely enjoy the closing number. Also, I spent a solid 30 minutes my first time through the film trying to work out how they got Dave Koechner to be in it. Sherri Sheppard is a Christian so she made sense, and kids just starting in the biz will take any job they can get, but Dave Koechner is an established, secular comedian. How much did they pay him? Were they blackmailing him? That's what I want to know.

I think I can guess what your issue with 'West Side Story' was. Are their initials A.E.?

My rankings on the movie I’ve seen
    1. West Side Story Ranking A
    2. Everybody’s Talking About Jamie Ranking B
    3. Encanto Ranking A
    4. Cinderella C I completely agree. This version of Cinderella was very underwhelming and the music was not very good. I could not make it past the scene when the Fairy Godmother entered. I think this movie had Idina Menzel’s weakest performance.
    5. Dear Evan Hansen B I agree with everything you said.

Tick... Tick... Boom was my favorite. In the Heights would've been better if Lin had directed it and not John M. Chu. Not a fan of his directing. Sorry.

Okay, so I loved the music in Encanto but I felt that, story wise, it was pretty meh. As a latina, I understand and relate to the concept of a matriarch big house owner that gathers all the family, but I still felt that there wasn't many story to go about, and nothing really exciting happened

I really like the story! I love how it focuses on the individual characters and their insecurities and the way its so family orientated. They didn’t need to do a huge scale adventure like Raya - they kept it small scale and contained so they can focus on the details that make the movie so beautiful

Imo the new West Side Story fucks. I didn’t hate Ansel as much as I thought I would, though I would have preferred to have someone with more musical experience in the role. He just didn’t meld in like the others did. I could forget that Mike Faist was Mike Faist but he was still Ansel Elgort. Once I noticed what his throat was doing when he was singing, that’s the only thing I could focus on lol.

It just broke me seeing how terrible dear evan hansen is. There were some amazing actors in it but there were some pretty big flaws. I really really wish we had an actor playing evan who was of the age, it would make it so much better.

So I have been watching the reviews for west side story and no one has brought up the relationship between the police and the sharks and the way Steven Spielberg completely wrote that out...
Like for me, that was huge, I remember them teaching west side story in music appreciation class, and it was the only time I had ever heard my teachers discussing the racism of the police, I live in staten island and we are known for our conservative values, so for me that was big... its amazing how much more regressive the new one was, when compared to the one from 1961.... even though it was cast better, the story was made to be regressive... like I do like that they gave Riff a deeper back story, but by giving him a purpose to hate the Puerto Ricans, it kind of changes things... now the white Boys are actually being replaced by the Puerto Ricans rather than it being an imagined issue... and at one point it sounded like Tony was envious of the sharks having a community... these are all little things that they are trying to point out that both sides had it rough, and the original was very clear that the sharks were on their own in a strange city... its a weird thing to change.
Then almost all of Tony's songs are suppose to be in his head... like they are monolougues... why is he singing to Rita Moreno??? Lmao. Like I get they were trying to utilize her as much as possible, but to see Tony singing to her she just felt extra...
And then I never realized how important facial expressions were... and none of this new cast had it... old school actors just have more expressive faces... they cast it to pretty for me, so pretty infact that their faces lack character to make me feel anything...
    Otherwise I loved it. Lol.

Oh and they robbed Maria of her end monologue... omg... it was just torn apart and not even glued back together well... it was like he was trying to avoid what the original story was about... people who hated each other for no good reason... and they tried to hide that at every spot.
