Wow, a LOT has changed. I haven't played this game in 4 years and there is so much to see. It's interesting to see that two former bases (Trumbull County Fair and Watkins Residence) Make a return.
One thing about Fort Marshall I noticed is that the defense towers says 3 guards but it actually supports 4 (not a huge thing but thought I’d say something)
Red talon base is actually boss. Free murder machine community member. I think it's to help entice people to play daybreak more. Personally ray's old compound is my favorite it's central location makes it amazing to quick fast get to any mission from home and back. Just gotta learn where the mountains are... hit a few of those night driving...
With the farmland compound I put cars at the behind the barn entrance and the one closer to infirmary and then zombies can only enter the middle. Simple 180 and your looking at both entrances and very easy to defend even on lethal. I have a watchtower out near the middle too and word of warning don't park a car in the parking spot closest to the big barn as your group will try shooting zombies and keep hitting the car til it blows.
Now we have a little base in a military outpost though I hope it could be larger. Can we have a base in a prison? For the true walking dead experience.
I always grab the trailer park for my early base. I toss two guard towers up top and a farm in the large spot. I usually wind up posting a van or multiple vehicles at other empty bases to store supplies and rely on outposts and base facilities for them early on. Makes for a quick setup and turn around in the later game.
If you arte gonna jump on the Steam beta, do not bring characters you are attached to, beta things are happening. I have had 2 incidents that on lethal would have killed the character I was using and possibly the helper I had with me in one case. Surprise bloaters have NOT been fixed and surprise ferals have seemingly been added as a result of trying to fix THAT. If it had not also been glitched and unable to fight back, I might have lost that character on standard.
I love that Checkpoint Delta has 4 parking spaces so you can take all your cars with you if you move in from another map Otherwise it sucks as a starter base for living in

My playthrough of this map, I went from starter base to mid-game Tranquility Factory, to end-game Farmland Compound. I was gonna try Fort Marshall, but I wanted to live on the farm because the roads by Tranquility Factory are congested like crazy. Starter base roads are only slightly better. Overall this is the map I've had the worst time driving on. Would not recommend the bases on the bottom left of the map for that reason. Edit: This is from someone who's favorite map is Drucker County. 😆
Haven't played some of the other maps in a while so I'm not sure if it's actually the WORST of all the maps but it's definitely not the easiest to get around. Loads of mountains and road blocks.
@Hitchslapped Drucker County IS pretty easy if you can navigate the mountains. They aren't completely inaccessible. I'd say the worst map is after Trumbull is Providence Ridge. It's the map that requires you stay on the road majority of the time. The mountains are inaccessible. Roads aren't as congested as Trumbull though, I'll give it that.
@@journey9411 Yeah, Providence Ridge is actually quite okay if you stick to the roads. It's a tough habit to beat because all the maps before rarely required you to use the roads but the roads in Providence get you to every part of the map pretty quickly.
I started on Providence Ridge and think it's excellent. Some of the drives are long, but they are very easy. Reading map rankings, people most often complain about maps that require you to stick to the roads. I'd say they're lazy, but I guess after a first playthrough, people don't want to take things slow. I really dislike being on Trumbull Valley. The roads are too cluttered, the map isn't nice to look at (except the farm lands). It's just a headache. I'm gonna play through it, but I'll be glad to leave it behind.
I cleared the leader legacy mission for Lisa in South Hobbes, moves to Trumbell valley, and got to Fort Marshall right off the bat. Didn't waste any time at the starter base. Cleared both plague hearts with explosives, and boom. Fort Marshall was mine.
Great Video Per Usual! 😁👍💯 I just changed maps and now you get to choose which base you want to claim. I picked Fort Marshall because I was bringing 8 people. Just starting this new map today and it's pretty sweet so far! Cheers! 🍻
I stick on smaller base. I don't care about bigger base when the zombies can literally spawned inside your base during siege or just wondering hordes if they get to close. Gates, doors or fences that zombies can get through block by cars will not work unless you're close by to prevent zombies from getting in. So bigger base with 3 or more entrance thats farther from each other are hard to defend especially if there is a juggernaut that can push out the car or just spawned inside. I rather use tons of gas to drive miles from my base and easy to defend during siege than getting own by hordes/freaks inside my own base and injured or losing a survivors by juggernaut. Reducing car gas by having mobile operator in your community or have driver. They need to fix this issue for bigger bases on spawning zombies inside the base cause what's the point of have that safe zone circle if zombies just materialized near you when you're inside it especially in your base. Like a screamer outside your base can spawned a boaters inside you're base in a safe zone doesn't make sense.
WoW, i found the first comment wich makes sense, clearly a player who plays on Nightmare/Lethal. I only had to go trough like 150 idiots who have no idea what makes for importance when choosing your base. Thank you sir!
I grinded out day break for like 14 hours stright. Fucking. Ruthless. I came out with 8 red talon operators(which I taylord to my community needs like cooking, gardening etc) , and all the red talon facilities I gotta say best results I've ever had in this game are with this current community, The farm land compound is by far the best base, especially when you have the heaven device. Makes it an actual fortress

So... the Watchtower in Fort Marshal... it costs no Ammo to man this tower. How? Do they kill nearby Z's with old Footballs? For a base like the farm i realy hope in SoD3 they work more with the Z spawning... i mean... if there are no houses around, just farmland... my base should be able to make noise as much as it wants to without a siege comming... paired with a true "herd wandering... movement pattern"... let's just say like in Days Gone. It would be cool if the Z's realy existed in the world. Not just spawning in randomly in your back while looting a house. The difficulty increase still could be done trough making Z's more aggressive over time, wandering herds coming in on the map from the map exit points and more Specials appearing.
i love going for the sorta post apocalyptic military faction so fort marshal is my fav base , like if you could do expeditions to other maps (go to the other maps loot then return) id always use fort marshal
The Farmland Compound is a tough sell for me because the Backyard BBQ Pit doesn't have the option to Prepare a Feast. Really don't want to give up that +30 Stamina and +10 Morale for 1hr with Nutrition
I haven't played this game in a while, but I remember something that annoyed me when I played it. Some factions (the other NPCs survivors) can claim the good bases and I cant kick them out. Does this still happen?
I put 2 Defense Towers and 1 Sniper Tower in Farmland Compound. It looks like overkill, but for role-playing purposes, it's perfect. ! tower North, 1 East and 1 West. Perfect defense. Mind you, I only play on standard difficulty. maybe only 1 Zombie strayed inside. (With Full-House mod, perfect defense every time. I dont need to do anything.)

Fort Marshal is the best in my books, not only am I big on Military bases but the way my group is laid out plus everything I need makes this base the best for me.
Thanks for the review! You are hyping me more and more, cant wait till wednesday. Im a bit sad that they didnt make Mt. Tanner Ranger Station into the starting base. This delta point just sucks. But maybe they want the beginning to be harder on this map.(At least in beta there are no resources of all types around the starting location, esp. no gasoline) I go back and forth between pterodactyl and tranquility for mid game, but I think it will be pterodactyl since its just cheaper for the difficult start (playing lethal zone). A bit disappointed from Fort Marshall (or should I say Fort Marcus ;-) ) Will definatey head for the farm in late game. Loved this base in SoD one, was on my 2nd place after salvini house. It has obviously the best location right in the middle of the map.
Imagine they added free building in state of eecay 3 with maps 4x as big all connected to one so if you want to go to a new part your progress and everything saves you just go to a new lets say “city” and you can have realitivs who live in certain spots freinds, kids, realationships. New zombies new freaks new guna outfits tools items it would make the game take months to beat but thats good so you sont loose intrest in it
But fort marshall is easily the worst base to defend if you do not cheese it with cars since the people at the watchtowers will not detect anything within it and will just ignore intruders
Am I the only one who keeps getting wiped in Pterodactyl Park on lethal zone sieges? It seems like there too many places for the AI to get isolated instead of fighting as unit. Before you comment, I am no scrub at the game. I've beaten every other map on lethal zone with no deaths and a scratch community. For some reason every time I get to this base I get wiped, not even a max level siege.

Idk if it’s been said before but the farm base is the McReady farm house base from the first game only bigger.
I tried that too but it keeps on moving them gets annoying after a while
Now we have a little base in a military outpost though I hope it could be larger.
Thank you for a Very Wonderful detailed tour guide. I appreciate it Thank you so much!!!
The farmland base with the haven device just makes it the best
I love that Checkpoint Delta has 4 parking spaces so you can take all your cars with you if you move in from another map
Otherwise it sucks as a starter base for living in
That's what I'm planning on. Currently working on a new (started with 3 pool survivors) community in Meagher Valley on Greenzone. got 3 Vandito's all filled up with rucksacks, a burnimator and a surveycar.
@@Henry0870
I started an RT enclave in Providence (and recruited six minions) but I moved them to Drucker to watch training videos on the big screen until they can move to Trumbull
You can only bring the cars you park on the parking spots(max 4) to new maps. So check the cars you park before moving out to new maps.
@@Henry0870 Yea, real ethical, wow just wow. How about you start from scratch noob, like any player with some self respect. Earning your keep, and carrying your weight is what makes you proud in this game, not switching to another map with a full loot of NOOB zone. I hope you won't be a pussy-ass and start on lethal, so your community gets wiped in an instant by a pack of blood ferals. Lmao get gud idiot.
@@Corri888 no need be hostile bruh. I've seen modders in green zone and way to puss to go on nightmare zone with 999 ammo on their guns. Atless this guy is legit. And me i have 2nd account to supply my main on anything i need or transfers mats, facilities
, guns or items when i do a legacy. I called it being smart than throw all the things i've got from that playthough like cleo facilities. Its not easy to farm those prestige points to buy another one.
I loved the farm in the og so I'm sure it will be my fav again
Save up your influence. In the beta it's 3.5K. It's a very, very good base.
Great Video Per Usual! 😁👍💯 I just changed maps and now you get to choose which base you want to claim. I picked Fort Marshall because I was bringing 8 people. Just starting this new map today and it's pretty sweet so far! Cheers! 🍻
4:58 as of typing this, there is one one open small slot, the bottom right is now your storage area (previously it didn't have one)
well also you need an infirmary.. so it basically has no free slots...
Bro those black Plague hearts are something else. It took me 3 different heavy weapons, and 200 rnds of .45 and 4 grenades
I grinded out day break for like 14 hours stright.
Fucking. Ruthless.
I came out with 8 red talon operators(which I taylord to my community needs like cooking, gardening etc)
, and all the red talon facilities
I gotta say best results I've ever had in this game are with this current community,
The farm land compound is by far the best base, especially when you have the heaven device.
Makes it an actual fortress
The farm is the best, you can easily bypass sieges by using the CLEO safe haven device which come from the location’s story.
I do love how undead labs made a really nice, unique map for their first game, and then it became the best map in their sequel as well lol
Glad I watched this ,gonna move straight into pterodactyl Park for starters
I really like the way Marshall was designed. It's hard to get a vehicle through parts of it so you end up on foot and it's a lot more tense
Hello! I would like to know If the new weapons are only found in Hearthland Trumbull Valley map? Or It is possible to find in the normal campaign maps?
I was a bit disappointed that they couldn't bring back the warehouse location from the original. Seeing that as an updated option like the farmland would've been sweet.
Fort marshall has enough slots personally for me and I love the defense.
im state of decay player since 1 ,nice content bro
HI thanks for the great vid. Quick bit of constructive feedback. It would help noob players like me if at the start of each base walkthrough you showed it on the map. I'm not really sure where the Red Talon base is based on the video.
I am personally excited for this update, I never played the first game but I watched videos and read lore, I loved heartland and I am excited for the story and lore we will get
Hey @Sunny Games just a heads up the red talon base has only the 1 large spot and the 1 small spot. The storage is suppose to be on the bottom right of that empty slot. its currently a bug right now for some
Edit:@Sunny Games
The best thing about SoD2 is the sandbox factor! (honestly it would be boring if we had a "story" objective and a strong narrative)
facts
🎯
hello is trumbul valley the only have special missons like ray santos , dr.hoffman and tressie is the other maps also have special missions?
They all missions but Trumbull is the only one with “special unique” missions yes
@@SunnyGamesYT okay thnx for the info anyway do you know or maybe just give me some estimated runs on how many till i get the cleo heavy sniper i already unlocked the smg i want to try the heavy sniper on campaign
Fort Marshall is one that i am using but i hate all of the the road blocks that surround it when going anywhere.
Exactly the reason I abandoned it. Moved to the farm, developed it fully only to then learn of free Red Talon guy in their base... Now contemplating if I should move there to get him...
None of them seem to impress me, sure the red talon base is cool IF you don't have any of the red talon facilities. But all in all, I feel like it's all the same. But Trumbull is a cool map, it's nice to see some new scenery 👌
Are you joking, they all look super amazing and unique, there all very different to outer bases and the maps it's self is amazing
@@MasonGibbs17 all the bases have the same layout as the rest of maps. It's nothing new, 3 small slots with 1 or 2 large.. it's nothing new. Remember, it's just an opinion. What WOULD be a cool update is if WE can control the layout an slots, what's gets built where.
Yeah an option to build any facilities without pre-existing facilities in it. Empty lot that you can customize what want to build.
I’m currently doing a dread run with 6 red talon operators out of the red talon Fob. It is a pain to get out of but great themed run I’m having some fun with.
I was playing Trader so at pterodactyl I had only trading post, then used every roof slot as watchtowers. It was a riot. I have a "fun" community with 15 people. I want to move them to this map and do the same thing, set it on lethal and watch the carnage.
how do you got so many people?
@CCP did they remove the soft cap to recruit them at 9 people
@@emivaz_flores hey i didnt see your reply. I used the community editor. You have to play awhile and kick a bunch of people out. Then get max community, use the editor to bring the rest back. The editor is down right now it is being uodated .
@@Someone-lg6di you can actually get more by leaving one slot open until a whole enclave offers to join.
I want to deconstruct the Red Talon facilities in their base to install it in Fort Marshal please... i mean... this bases in the basegame came from an item... can modders please make it possible?
So... the Watchtower in Fort Marshal... it costs no Ammo to man this tower.
My only criticism is that beds don’t matter. The morale boost in lethal is something like minus 6 which is nothing if you have a white noise machine
Farmhouse all the way for the nostalgia. Always wanted to secure the barn and remove the corpses in the first game.
I haven't played this game in a while, but I remember something that annoyed me when I played it. Some factions (the other NPCs survivors) can claim the good bases and I cant kick them out. Does this still happen?
Or refuse their missions or bring lots and lots of zombait
I put 2 Defense Towers and 1 Sniper Tower in Farmland Compound. It looks like overkill, but for role-playing purposes, it's perfect. ! tower North, 1 East and 1 West. Perfect defense.
Mind you, I only play on standard difficulty. maybe only 1 Zombie strayed inside. (With Full-House mod, perfect defense every time. I dont need to do anything.)
One small spot allocated to kitchen and the FOB is great.
Hi there, I’ve recently got back into the game and I’ve played Trumball on normal and now on lethal at the moment, I’ve seen in the Red Talon Daybreak FOB that the toilet needed a Compact incinerator and I’ve no idea how to get it, is it through doing Daybreak and have to unlock it that way? Any advice on how to get it would be greatly appreciated, great vids by the way, been watching and it’s been helping me to plan my next steps than playing like a headless chicken like on normal difficulty
Farmland has and always will bd my favorite base lol
okay addendum, you do show it on the map because the location is a weak point, but still leading with the location on the map is my humble advice.
Block off daybreak outpost and just spam the CLEO drops worst problem you’ll have is ferals jumping the back fence….juggs you can pick off easily but I agree farmland is best for endgame cuz of all the slots
Helped me out a bunch you got my sub
3:40 can you recruit them over and farm a whole group of Chavez lmao like through multiple play throughs??
Best base for my my 'elite' 7? I don't even need beds as the traits have given me surplus beds lol =/
Farm is just the best base. Period.
@@mikeemmons1079 Yea, maybe on green zone it is, but on lethal it's crap to defend like it was mentioned in the video, and i can confirm that having access to the beta. Also who in their right mind would need 4 large slots? Tranquility Factory and Pteranodon Ptark hand in hand are best bases on the new map, they are well balanced for their price/people requied, they are in a good location, and are easily defendable. The rest is just noob stuff, like "oh my gawd it looks pretty", gtfo noob.
@@Corri888 Counterpoint: I want to look cool in the Red Talon FOB with my Red Talon soldiers.
Will you make a video for rare weapon locations on the new map? Thanks!
12:30 not per se if anything the open spots are a boon gives all people a good open range. Fort Marshall is the worst by far unless you equip everybody with big ass 50cals
It has 4 towers one on each direction sounds good right....Yea if only they would shoot if your enemy attacks from south, north east and west do nothing.
Now that Trumbull is back, I wonder if we will ever see Danforth again 🤔 One could only hope.
Thank you for all the info
I'm subscribed your welcome 😂 also cool content I just did the update and needed it
trumbull valley has the best quest lines in the game ...
ok soooooo, Im about done with my first playthough and completely blew off the farmland. I love the location but my screen even after going to the base shows two open large and one open small. I'm about to fire up the game and go look manually. Had I known this I would easily have chosen that base. Pterodactyl was a riot for me .
Oh how ridiculous. It doesnt say anything about the extra clearable slots.
@@shmodzilla Moving to farmhouse on my next Trumbull play through, nostalgia was originally my motiv but the rt base looked better
Can you play this map with your existing communities or is it still just for the heartland dlc?
Existing communities. It's actually larger than what was in Heartland.
I think they made Trumbull most fun bases wise
I'm doing red talon base cuz I'm a returner lol I do kinda want a mobile outpost though, there's cars everywhere so why can't we fix some up like a semi? It would be cool having I drivable 2 bed outpost
I had only 1 small and 1 big free space on red talon base on lethal zone. I dont know is that bug or is suppose to be like that?
The red talon FOB only has one small slot, your second one should be your Storage, Unless you can get rid of it
So the warehouse from State of decay 1 ain't in it great 😕
I'm probably going to go for the day break one
I don’t get why the mobile homes didn’t give you built in beds and kitchen facilities. You get three whole homes but they still sleep outside, smh. Love fort Marshall though.
i was just about to claim the farmland compound and then enclaves took it before i could i cant get them out anymore
I was under the impression Farmland Compound is ery easy to defend... just build a havendevice and never care again...
So this drops this morning?
Fort Marshal is the best in my books, not only am I big on Military bases but the way my group is laid out plus everything I need makes this base the best for me.
Thanks for the review! You are hyping me more and more, cant wait till wednesday.
Im a bit sad that they didnt make Mt. Tanner Ranger Station into the starting base. This delta point just sucks. But maybe they want the beginning to be harder on this map.(At least in beta there are no resources of all types around the starting location, esp. no gasoline)
I go back and forth between pterodactyl and tranquility for mid game, but I think it will be pterodactyl since its just cheaper for the difficult start (playing lethal zone).
New zombies new freaks new guna outfits tools items it would make the game take months to beat but thats good so you sont loose intrest in it
What gun are you using?
This game i like, i play too now but never ever rain, n cant make people order too make guard
Pterodactyl Park is my favorite so far
actually I like the RT FOB since you can shoot the bell on the side! hahaha
Do you notice that the farmland base had a single slot that can’t be used?
It's part of the bunk bed slot. It's another little shed with additional beds.
But fort marshall is easily the worst base to defend if you do not cheese it with cars since the people at the watchtowers will not detect anything within it and will just ignore intruders
Honestly if I could still play the game I’d be so eager for this.
@vonronken My Xbox died and my potato laptop can’t handle it and I can’t afford to replace either one
@vonronken thanks sadly getting better is going to take longer than expected cause the washing machine died yesterday lol
Anyone know how best to move my current community to Trumbull valley without losing my stuff it's been ages since I played.
Will i be able to recruit any of the characters from hartland?
This is a big question… I’ve got all red talon facilities so if I can’t keep the added member is it really worth it?
Am I the only one who keeps getting wiped in Pterodactyl Park on lethal zone sieges? It seems like there too many places for the AI to get isolated instead of fighting as unit. Before you comment, I am no scrub at the game. I've beaten every other map on lethal zone with no deaths and a scratch community. For some reason every time I get to this base I get wiped, not even a max level siege.
