BPoHC is an incredibly flawed game, but at the same time, it got me so invested in the lore of a shmup, which is something I didn't think many games would make possible for me. Len'en is truly interesting to say the least, and I'm excited to see where Monochrome World takes us.
There it is. Okay so I have yet to finish the entire video, but I just want to say, I love this game. It's probably most flawed bullet hell there is, the extra stages/stage 5 is always a drag, the balance was never JynX's forte and ye, even the story takes a blow from amount of dialogue you just cannot influence in any way. That being said, it's probably one of the most creative games I've ever played and Xeno a fight was always the peak of the game for me. I hate RNG in video games, yet somehow author made a gamble themed boss fight incredibly enjoyable. Suzumi fight was never that hard, but the pressure and the gimmicks just make it incredible on blind playthrough. Despite all the criticisms, BPoHC is a must play game or at least an experience and big thanks to both Omega and the editor for doing this.
@FantasyAdventuress Editor and Omega mentioned it few times, but imagine if you could just cut away half of the dialogue in pieces such as name info and what not make a typical dialogue tree like in jRPGs, heck this game already borrows a lot from RPG games, why not just make it so you can choose your adventure through not just going left or right but by actually influencing dialogue? I understand why JynX didn't do that, I mean that would be a pain to program and write with so many bosses and characters, but that still proves there's a room for improvement here.
Jesus everything about that suzoom fight is disturbing. The music, the way they attack, and I just noticed the hearts in the background during their spells. Jesus this fight is a lot

A few extra advice, for Xeno a's shenanigans! Her lasers have the wonkiest hitboxes. It shows more than a few times on the video, but as a general rule you can probably go through the tip. Keep track of the numbering on the things. She pretty much calls out what is about to happen, and that's invaluable. For example- Dice with the number five are actually something you might want. They heavily constrict your movement, but if you react fast enough you can move up a bit and redirect it to fly off to the side. Always, always be on the look for number 1 cards. It's the fastest bullet, absolutely made to catch you unaware. If you are aware however, it practically turns into a freebie.
Yeah, 5's are easy to avoid by themselves, but in conjunction with the other numbers can easily be the worst outcome. Consider the fact that every other number locks your position down or blockades your path in some way (like if 2's or 6's are active) having to suddenly get far away from where you're hanging out can get really bad _really_ fast.
Huh. I dunno, I usually found those to be the easiest to redirect to path around, although it's true the 5-dice are the ones that force a bigger redirection. Honestly a part of me thinks it might be a different of playstyle due to shot-types... except I mainly use Kuroji, so that doesn't seem to be it. I got nothing. XD
My god i don't think i have even a modicum of patience or skill to keep a calm enough head through all of this. Hat's off to you man this was an intense video just from watching it.
Theres a skill that boosts alcohol gain. Go on lunatic with a long lasting bomb, wait for immortal enemies, and blow your stock... Or just farm easy/nornal. Then you can buy so many upgrades it becomes possible to beat abex WITHOUT MOVING. ....but yeah, with so few upgrades... Omega is seriously impressive.
The most viable strategy to captue Roulette of Destiny is to actually escape the laser cell you're in - this can be done with Yabusame's Warp Kingdom ability, Fumikado's armor mode, the Secret Team's flashbomb, or by upgrading flashbomb invincibility time. The rings get close to undodgeable on Absurdly Extra, so this is the only viable method there without tanking 20 hits...
Not working on Clause and not working on Yabusame...It’s seems like, as a “Time” ability ,it wouldn’t work for someone with “Space-Time” ability, like Yabu’s Dimension and Clause’s Gravity (“Gravity is the curvature of spacetime” and all that). Also, I find it funny that the equivalent of a JQK in Zeno a spellcard is the Senri eye, showing just how much she respects them.
well my theory is, yabu is too airheaded and have literally nothing on their mind for them to rewrite or erase. for clause, the reverse of yabu, they have TOO much going on inside their mind that suzumi cant erase/rewrite all of them. despite suzumi rewriting some/few of them, the amount of other memories they create overshadows the rewritten/deleted ones.
apparently yabusame is literally multidimensional, which is why suzumi's abilities are weakened on them (ie. they remember things clearly after a rewind), and it's implied that if suzumi went back through time after killing yabusame, yabusame would just stay dead as for clause, uh no idea
My best guess on the splitting attack is it represents two possible realities and selects for the one with the worse outcome (i.e. the one where you get hit)
Other idea would be, that you have the option to split in blackjack. And in any card deck, you have kind of two identical card (two black aces, two red aces and so on)
Also sorry for double posting, but I just took a look at your new game poll And yes, there's a ton of great contenders there, but there's one that I feel you will love it - Avant-Garde Discerning Paralleler. So as of the time writing this, I didn't finish that game, but I can tell that anyone who enjoyed watching both Len'en and Touhou on this channel will love this game. It's very different structure wise, because instead of a non stop game, it's separated into stages/levels you can play at your own pace. The game also has like 16 different stages and bosses and each has a drastically different gimmick, some even playing with the design of the bullet hell genre itself. It's a very overshadowed title, even finding any video or copy of it is rare, but trust me, it's worth it. It's also made by the same guy who was supposed to release "Promised Mystery of Moisture" but that one seems to have been canceled in development.
Five months, huh? It's been one help of a ride, but we made it. Now it's back to some good ol' Touhou. And I can't wait to do it all again in the even more content packed Len'en 8.
Shion: "Yep, we've got a fight-lover on our hands. One of Mugenri's local specialties" *Meanwhile in Gensokyo, fights happens for literally no reason all the goddamn time* Edit: I was sorta expecting you to flip a table when Tsurubami showed up. Mostly cause of all the stuff they pulled as Len'en 1's extra stage boss
I'm hoping the lack of Shining Shooting Star on the poll page means it has been chosen. It is such a good fan game, easil one of the best, imo. Also Suzumi gets extra creepy when you remember that she/he/they caused TENKAI to freak out.
The poll has too many good choices. Tri-focuser, Marine Benefit, Mrs. Estacion, Azure Reflections, Ikaruga, and that's not to mention ones that I didn't know where good, and the ones not on the list like Touhou Puppet Dance Performance. Good show of Len'en 4! Until next Unreality!
Here's another tidbit of info on this game: Everything you see here isn't actually the game at 100% completion. Yes, there is more after beating the Extra + Alpha Stage. Don't worry though, once you're at this point, you are almost done with said 100% Completion. In order to unlock everything after this, all you have to do is beat all the final and extra stage bosses and beat Extra + Alpha with 200 points allocated or less again as Suzumi. That may still be a lot, but at this point, the effort is well worth it, because the reward you unlock is the ability to play Free-Play Mode. Anyone who has played a LEGO game would immediately understand what this means, but for those who don't, I'll summarize it for you. In Free-Play Mode, instead of having a very specific set of 3 characters to compose your team out of depending on who you chose as your main character, you now have the ability to use ANY character from ANY team in ANY team orientation, and that includes all the bosses you've encountered. This essentially means you can now take this game's difficulty, and reverse who it's oriented towards, and that is super satisfying.
Haha, Suzumi's just a lovechild of Sakuya and Reisen... After seeing such creativity in danmaku and lore, I really love the Len'en series now. Before I just ignored it and just thought of it as the worst sister of Touhou bUT BOY AM I WRONG. I love what Jynx is doing, but most importantly, what you are doing. I always perk up when I see that you have uploaded something new. For two years, I always look forward to seeing your tips and your editor's jokes; they always brighten my day. Even as an EASY MODO player, your strategies have helped me a T O N. Thank you for 8 years of fun, and keep up the amazing work! ^v^
Can I make a request that you play AoCF on Overdrive difficulty, at least in parts? It adds extra spell cards, and Tenshi's last spell on Overdrive is absolutely something that must not be missed.
I tried this stage on Absurdly Extra and Xeno a kicked my ass, even with all upgrades. Decided to look up how the state is supposed to be played ... now I'm realizing Absurdly Extra is basically Doom's nightmare mode, which makes me feel better.
...and a few extra extra advice, for the second boss! If not that many. The survival spellcard is... actually hilariously easy to cheese. With so many bullets just standing there, it's real easy to charge your flashbomb. With it, you can just... jump to the other side of the laser. But why would you do that? It's such a fun spellcard! As for Obsidian Blade, you actually don't want to run back down between waves. You get more time (and it's a lot safer) if you stay around the top, so you can dodge by moving down the screen instead and end up right in front of the boss. And boy do you _really_ want to take care of it quick, before the crawling blobs pre-slashing are added to the things you have to dodge, like it was the case here!
I'm ve- no, I'm VERY interested how you're going to handle the plot in Marisa+Koishi story. Because of this: - More often than not Marisa is your main in Touhou; - Koishi is stalking you; - Everything will be ruined; - But this time it is really not Koishi's fault.
poor editor :c I never really noticed the connection between Suzumi's survival card and Yaorochi's style, but I guess they really do look similar. As for xeno a's final spell? I guess it had to do with "What if" - like, parallel worlds and stuff. Each side is a world with differences between. But that's just a theory - A game theory~
It wasn't until going over the footage for this series and putting all the bosses side by side did I even realize it. At first I thought other bosses mighta puled it off, but only Yaorochi, Yago and Suzumi pull off that "slashy death aura" move. The former two both have a connection with the Tasouken, so I figured that's where the aura move comes from. Suzumi however in both of their fights against Yaorochi appears to be... studying the sword or something? Apparently that sword can do more than Yaorochi remembers it can do and they're trying to figure out what that is.
Uhh... one hour huh? Yeah, gonna KIV this for later, when I have more free time. Tbh, I'm just glad this game's playthrough is over for now, looking forward to the poll's winner EDIT: Skimmed through the video, love your Xeno a bossfight tbh, nice to see the spellcards resolve naturally instead via spam bombing. You made them look easy xD Hmm, I honestly didn't really follow AoCF when it first came out other than mecha sheep Doremy, so it'll be fun watching how the story is and why the final bosses are that way
Ahhhh and so the war games finish betweeen the Capital and the Drangonfly Fortress (and between MegaManOmega and their Editor as to what constitutes as too much dialogue). As for whats coming in the future, AOFC will be interesting esspecially if you show off the overdrive spellcards. Also the poll, holy Hakurei so many suggestions. Extra boss rush, LUASTG, Fantastic Danmaku Festival and Frantically Forbidden Fruit (don't think I saw the "Disappearing of Gensokyo" but hopefully that can be covered at some point). The future of danmaku and bullethell is looking bright (unless Suzumi decides to erase it).
Roulette of Destiny is such a cool spell, like it looks and sounds unique, and fits with the chance teme so well. Too bad that it's pretty much impossible with the fatties.
30:23 im sorry..... WHAT?????? Are we also ignoring Xeno a's card with the senri eye on it? Personally I like to think the three cards are based off of Tsuba, Yabu, and Shion
Kinda wish you showed off Suzumi's shot, bomb, and flash bomb at the end of the video, since you did unlock Suzumi in RMI, and it's not a spoiler anymore... it's an interesting character to play around with.
tl;dr i just barely did Xeno α and +α all in the first attempt. i suffered through haiji and gameover'd on yago's last spell, but i finished them. then i did neutral and +α both on the first attempt. i think JynX knew you'd be almost dead after Xeno α so +α was easy? at least for me. i had no barriers left and was on my last life after extra. as i was writing this i realized i forgot to save a replay.
There is a script where you play as Junko and fight Reimu but the rules are different because Junko says that every now and then there needs to be a mixup in the fighting which Reimu does agree to and at the start Reimu forgets the conversation because she uses a spellcard immediately which gets automatically cancelled and you get a big boost to the score with Junko calling her out on that happening which afterwards Reimu then switches to the other type of attack form that Junko wants to see which is when the real fight begins. Also there is a script where you play as Hecatia and fight Ran Yakumo and Hecatia has to switch between her shot types which are a focused shot, a spread shot where she fires in all directions and even a homing shot to beat Ran. Hecatia is a unique character to use since unlike other characters her bomb is on a cooldown meter when used and you become more vulnerable until the orb that circles her returns. The star icons that normally depict how many bombs you have instead are based around how strong the bomb is when used which means the more stars you have the more damage the bomb does to your opposition. The creator of this player script clearly nailed how she would be like if she was playable with how she works. Also at the final spell of the script something interesting happens causing a twist to occur which I won't spoil here.
All right! Now to do that with all other teams! Yaaaaaaay... ;-; Now I face the dilema of going Lv0000 with all the other teams or just saying fuck it and grinding 'till I max out every useful character and going with max level...
I never got into Len'en because I couldn't bare how darn ugly the character designs are, but wow the spellcards are awesome aren't they? It looks like JynX had a lot of fun making them. The music is awesome too, but I already knew that.
I think either Yabusame is just a dumb, or perhaps the latter is most likely. In Suzumi's scenario when they fight Yabu she's oddly calm about running into Suzumi not really acting like how you'd think she would if she knew what all Suzumi could do.
@@MegamanOmega184 Then I guess Yabu is just an airhead. Not knowing the danger is on her field or just simply don't care. Or maybe she acts serious if she wants to
I thought Memory Swallowed by Torrid Current was random and the knives spawned by each wave followed the same pattern I thought Foolhardy Courage's flickering was random
Depends _entirely_ on your play-style honestly with the huge variety of skills to choose from. (also the vast differences depending on who you're playing with as well, what with the personal upgrades). I'd just take a long look over the upgrades list and see what compliments how you're playing. lenen.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Brilliant_Pagoda_or_Haze_Castle/Gameplay#Upgrades_and_Skills
Just because 15.5 was released after Touhou 16 doesn't mean it comes _after_ Touhou 16. It's not the first time this happened either, like Touhou 7.5 came out after Touhou 8 but there's no question that IaMP comes before IN
It's not Len'en if the dialogue doesn't make up 80% of the video
Geez, Mungenri is a frightening place indeed. It's like someone took Gensokyo's coffee and replaced all the sugar with salt.
Damn, that must be salty.
Mmmmmm taste the *SALT*
Salt coffee can be pretty tasty if you know how to add the right amount in tho.
more like crack cocaine lmao
BPoHC is an incredibly flawed game, but at the same time, it got me so invested in the lore of a shmup, which is something I didn't think many games would make possible for me. Len'en is truly interesting to say the least, and I'm excited to see where Monochrome World takes us.

Serial killer UwU
27:08 Which is why Suzumi wants Clause dead.
In fact, Suzumi is more amused by Clause's idiocy than anything. It's really just his immunity that put him on Suzumi's "to kill" list.
"Control probability"
If i ever get to pick a superpower, that's it right there.
did ya guys know that Arde can alter reality by making ppl forget about it?
Basically they did make Hooaka's arm get severed (or even deleted it) by simply making them forget about their own arm?
Suzumi is such a scary fella.
For example-
Dice with the number five are actually something you might want.
59:14 Now I want a BPoHC style Touhou game. Just to see what would happen.

39:55 Is it bad that I imagine the quandale dingle laugh when I get to this part of the dialogue?
Lmao
I have to wake up early tomorrow and cant see the video qwq
*cries in spanish*
43:29 He even once said that she was "beyond fucked".
BPoHC is one of those games where it's so dumb, it's good
and ayyyy can't wait for AoCF!!!
Timeout nonspell, huh? That's new.
Previewing the final boss bgm for next official game? I think it is the first time you do it for an official game.
23:37 *NOW YOU WON'T FOOL ME!!!*
tl;dr i just barely did Xeno α and +α all in the first attempt.
i suffered through haiji and gameover'd on yago's last spell, but i finished them.
then i did neutral and +α both on the first attempt. i think JynX knew you'd be almost dead after Xeno α so +α was easy? at least for me. i had no barriers left and was on my last life after extra.
as i was writing this i realized i forgot to save a replay.
If Mino plays Len'en 4 I'm pretty much sure they're gonna get crushed on Absurdly Extra ;)
3:53 Next time, I bet the editor will start to cover the screen...
If you want me to play them you kinda need to tell me the name of these scripts rather than just a long description of them
@@MegamanOmega184 The hecatia vs Ran one was made by Talos Mistake who also made the Hecatia player Script. The Junko one I am still looking for.
@@karisasani7006
Alright, well the Heca vs Ran one looks cool, I'm adding that to the list
@@aggressor9360
Well, we Donpachi now apparently. Alright, that looks cool as hell as well, adding that to the list too
Keep up the good content with great videos!
12:57 Or that time you lost your sense of self two videos ago...
40:38 more like two souls, apparently...
Ahem. May I point out in Spellcard 5/10 of the Luck lady, Isn't she just saying: Disclosure "No, You."?
LOL
All right! Now to do that with all other teams! Yaaaaaaay... ;-;
Now I face the dilema of going Lv0000 with all the other teams or just saying fuck it and grinding 'till I max out every useful character and going with max level...
6:27 Huh, guess I was wrong...
There's no way that she *ISN'T* cheating with Roulette of Destiny.
Uhhh... you might wanna update the description... the last fight's missing...
*Or is that the joke?*
(Edit: Okay he fixed it.)
*BIG MISTAKE YO*
...yo? *_BIG MISTAKE DA!_*
@dawk7 I know this is a year old but that still wasn't correct
23:32 to 23:32 -- Okay, there's manipulating probability, and then there's just blatant cheating D:
I never got into Len'en because I couldn't bare how darn ugly the character designs are, but wow the spellcards are awesome aren't they? It looks like JynX had a lot of fun making them. The music is awesome too, but I already knew that.
The art is bad, but so is early zun's
I really like some of the designs though
Am i the only one that can't capture Suzumi's time out spell card? I can capture all the others spell cards, but this one is just so tricky...
Well, they know Suzumi is in Mugenri but the question is. Did Yabusame really forget Suzumi or they can't remember what Suzumi is like?
I think either Yabusame is just a dumb, or perhaps the latter is most likely. In Suzumi's scenario when they fight Yabu she's oddly calm about running into Suzumi not really acting like how you'd think she would if she knew what all Suzumi could do.
@@MegamanOmega184
Then I guess Yabu is just an airhead. Not knowing the danger is on her field or just simply don't care. Or maybe she acts serious if she wants to
I certainly forgot that Yabusame can't be hurt by Suzumi's attack. I think that's how I remembered.

Have ever people played Touhou?
20:31 Is that Tsugumi Bomb Sound?
In your opinion, what's the worst to best shottype you've used in Len'En 4
I forgot
I thought Memory Swallowed by Torrid Current was random and the knives spawned by each wave followed the same pattern
I thought Foolhardy Courage's flickering was random
Have you seen the ABEX version of this omega? Sheesh....
Why does lenen 4 have to be so hard I can't even get to haiji which I want to do first
Is there some upgrade I should get (besides jun's skill)
Depends _entirely_ on your play-style honestly with the huge variety of skills to choose from. (also the vast differences depending on who you're playing with as well, what with the personal upgrades). I'd just take a long look over the upgrades list and see what compliments how you're playing.
lenen.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Brilliant_Pagoda_or_Haze_Castle/Gameplay#Upgrades_and_Skills
By the way, a certain fangame about star is missing from your poll
Shining Shooting Star next, I guess?
Epik facts:
Hamee, hamey, cine hamal are not real names. The real one is MO-NA-D-2 (like in theme). Ardeys real name MO-NA-D-1
Why does your copy of this game have colored bars? Mine have no color at all.
That's an upgrade! You can buy them at the upgrade shop in-game with the alcohol points you get when you play without using continues.
But in the canon the next is the touhou 16, for what the 15.5?
Just because 15.5 was released after Touhou 16 doesn't mean it comes _after_ Touhou 16. It's not the first time this happened either, like Touhou 7.5 came out after Touhou 8 but there's no question that IaMP comes before IN
Ok
I hope sumizi is get killed in the next game:)
The character design is far too cartoonishly juvenile for me to like the game.
