Great video! I'm making one for my students. And for those who asks about the difficulty in seeing where you want to cut. Make the last piece of the sled have a wider hole and then cover it with a transparent plastic sheet. It makes the saw move easier and you can see the where your cut will go. Thanks for this wonderfull instruction.

Very inspiring - I would consider making the bottom of the long slide out of transparent acrylic in order to be able to see markings on the wood to be cut...

Excellent to cut at a random position. But you get trouble if you want to cut THE position. You cant see the marks on the target. You should cut a wider slot at the blade for visual purposes (position the target to the right place).

Blind cuts since you can't see your marked lines under the wooden table-guide. Maybe try Plexiglas?

If you remove the jigsaw sled, place your workpiece and clamp it down with the sled again you know where the cut will be, you could also install a ruler in the base board as an improvement.

I think this would be better if the bottom piece of the jigsaw holder would be made out of plexiglass. Just so you can see precisely where you cut.

Oh, I like this. Not only does it keep your cuts straight and smooth, but it is also safe for a disaster like me I mean there are times I should not have access to power tools! So far, I have been lucky!

Bom projeto. Sugiro um rasgo no meio, onde está o recorte para a lâmina da serra para ver a marcação do lugar onde será feito o corte na peça a ser cortada.
Solo tengo una pregunta.. Como sabes donde va a ir el corte.? si no ves por la madera qe tapa por donde se va hacer el corte..

Great! Very useful! But how do you decide the situation when you need to see the cutting line, or point, or to cut exact length? May be it would be more effective to use a piece of Plexiglas like a cutting base...

Excelente. Muchas gracias. Lo único que reemplazaría, es la madera en donde apoya la caladora, por una pieza transparente. De esa forma se pueden ver bien los trazos que hayamos hecho en la pieza a cortar. Muy buen video. Gracias.

I was about to say the same thing , you can't see the exact mark or length of the board that your cutting.

You want to make a jig for the jigsaw so it can saw straight.But the problem arises as you need the appropiate tool for making straight pieces of wood for this jig : a saw that can make straight cuts ,a circle saw.
you need to make a circular windows to adjust the cut mark ... good job man

Plexiglass could be placed on the saw's slide base to see the cutting area more easily.?. A narrow strip in the middle, just where the saw blade passes, the rest wood. This would avoid scratching the plexiglass too much
I liked it very much. For hobby purposes, when there is little interest in performance but ability something to cut off properly (not straining brains) is a very wonderful device.
Gökmen, your design is brilliant in its simplicity. I am building a modified version, modified because my only power tools are a Bosch portable jigsaw and portable drill, both ten years old. The tricky part is to achieve adequate precision. I think I have got the track precise to within 2 mm over a length of 50 cm.
I will write up a description and performance report for this page when I get my project finished. The gluing is what takes the time. That, and I live in an apartment. So my workbench is actually my wife's laundry table. I have to wait for a non-laundry day for drilling and sawing.
Be interested to hear how you get on, am in a similar situation tool wise.
wonderful...only one area I will change. I will use clear pexiglass for the bottom of the sled the jigsaw slides on. that way I can see marks. otherwise this is perfect.
