uhm...no... the base of the jigsaw has a wide opening around the blade and is plastic only so that it does not damage the material you are sliding the jigsaw over. Meaning the jigsaw blade rips up the top part of the board because of the wide opening around the blade and the way the jigsaw blade works. By removing the plastic base with the wide opening and making the blade run in the line he cut in his wooden base you eliminate chip marks that is almost unavoidable when using a jigsaw.
@@petemininni5671 he eliminated chip marks by adding the wooden base that the blade then runs in perfectly protecting the board underneath it. Anyone that actually used a jigsaw and knows something about wood would know this

what I do for this kind of video which does seem doubtful is that I just skip to the last 20% of the video to see if the video is worth wasting time. If find it interesting then I start to see from the start.
Jigsaw blades cut on the upstroke., so this creates a zero clearance plate to help prevent blowout. This might be a good jig for openings in the center of wood, but I'd rather make straight cuts on the ends of pieces with my table or bandsaw. Also, this might be modified for skill saws if you don't have a tracksaw to help prevent blowout.

I have a table saw and a skill saw and a compound miter saw! and hand saws for making straight cuts!!!!!!! but if that is all you have well, I guess you should go for it!

good idea for someone with only a jigsaw - add some blade control with the zero clearance slot. You can do a lot with a jigsaw and a true straightedge....

If you have been working with wood for 45 years then you would know he just made a zero clearance base for his jigsaw. Yes there are other easier ways to prevent splintering but his isn't a bad idea.

The block is zero clearance. Which means there is no gap next to the blade as it is cutting. This prevents the blade from splintering the wood as it cuts. It is overkill as there are other ways to prevent splintering.

I'm not sure of the need for a base such as this but I do see a possible benefit. When cutting (without an added base) the teeth get dulled with usage. Adding the base will cause newer teeth further down the blade to be utilized in the cut, possibly extending the useful life of the blade.

although he is not trying avoid cutting skew...he is trying to eliminate chip marks and even a circular saw makes chip marks. So naturally you could build the same jig for a circular saw and it would mostly eliminate chip marks

I dunno..... jigsaw blades will wander (as they should) especially as you are exiting material on part of the blade. Making a really straight cut with a jigsaw seems bad because there are a ton of other tools that do that better. Even after the fence and larger base is used, its still a rough cut and that is with very narrow and uniform piece of ply, even a multitool with a wide blade would do better. Additionally, since the base is now even thicker, there is more distance from where the blade is attached to the tool and the plywood so it might actually have even more blade wander then with the original plastic base and your depth of cut is reduced

Cuts one piece using a clamp to hold in place and then cuts the next piece while holding it with his hand. Guess that piece wasn't that important to keep a straight edge considering you could easily see the piece move away from the straight edge piece.

Assisti vários vídeos que mostram que a máquina tem que deslizar tipo caranguejo pro corte sair reto,entao é posto uns parafusos na lateral da base pra compensar a diferença, mas este sei vídeo para ser o melhor elaborado.. Vou testar.

Un-needed steps. Straight pencil line, and hold piece down while cutting. Save 4 hours and save a bench.
Easier said than done. Also, holding the piece doesn't prevent blow out like this jig does.

Great jig, but why put holes in your bench. when you could have clamped the wood?
Because the clamps whould be in the way of the jigsaw

I don't get the purpose of the little sled the saw is sitting in to ride against that wood fence. The saw would've done that without the wooden sled.

There are any number of tools with which to cut wood but in this case, a circular saw would be much better than a jig saw.

Simple zero clearance base for the jig saw, helps a lot to prevent splintering. I use tape on the cut line.

You can buy up and down cut blades for jigsaws just use which ever is needed, up cut for rip and down cut for face finish.

Tbm tenho uma bem simples e o corte fica ruim. Vou tentar... será a última tentativa de usar a tico tico e ter um corte decente, parece que a lâmina entorta... Vamos ver como fica.

I dunno..... jigsaw blades will wander (as they should) especially as you are exiting material on part of the blade. Making a really straight cut with a jigsaw seems bad because there are a ton of other tools that do that better. Even after the fence and larger base is used, its still a rough cut and that is with very narrow and uniform piece of ply, even a multitool with a wide blade would do better.
Additionally, since the base is now even thicker, there is more distance from where the blade is attached to the tool and the plywood so it might actually have even more blade wander then with the original plastic base and your depth of cut is reduced

Couldn't agree more a jigsaw is for curves not straight lines just get a cheap circular saw it would cost less than a sheet of plywood .
Cuts one piece using a clamp to hold in place and then cuts the next piece while holding it with his hand. Guess that piece wasn't that important to keep a straight edge considering you could easily see the piece move away from the straight edge piece.

That aside, like others, I am baffled as to what you accomplished. It, certainly, cannot be that you gained a non-marring base, since the plastic on you removed took care of that problem.

Assisti vários vídeos que mostram que a máquina tem que deslizar tipo caranguejo pro corte sair reto,entao é posto uns parafusos na lateral da base pra compensar a diferença, mas este sei vídeo para ser o melhor elaborado.. Vou testar.
Ví esses vídeos também. Estava querendo uma Tico Tico, mas quando ví esses vídeos que citou até desanimei. Agora depois desse vídeo aqui até animei comprar uma e fazer esse JIG pro corte sair reto.
