    I’m thinking about getting these because I envy people who skate on quads because their skates are so cute and you can have so many different patterns, but I love rollerblading, and these skates give us inline skaters a taste of that but I don’t want to downgrade in quality from my current skate just for the aesthetic. Because their is a HUGE price difference, I own Seba inlines and they’re so nice they just aren’t super cute so I don’t know.

      Same! Love the look but probably wouldn't buy these. If they made a better quality skate I might consider it though. Might be worth considering putting a bigger from on an aggressive boot like the Razor Cults for a similar look.

    You won't believe how relieved I am to hear you can fit 80mm wheels on these (I'm a size 9 US). I just got them but the wheels are tiny so they can't tolerate rougher roads. I could've gotten powerslide swells but you can't beat the vintage aesthetic of these so I'm just so happy rn

    Honestly I am so excited for these skates. When I got back into skating the selection was either standard black or baby’s first Barbie pink skates. I felt like there was an untapped market of older women who care about the visual design of their skates. I mean, you could just look over to roller skating and see how popular the culture is with figures like planetrollerskate. I am SO excited to buy these and feel cute :’)

  • @matthewsagotsky9789

    FWIW I have a pair of impala size 41 skates and the 80 mm undercover wheels I put in the frames had the slightest bit of wheel bite at the mold seam on the front and back position. Oh and you are definitely going to have to use the middle wheels in the 'rockered' configuration. If you want to rock a flat setup and or be totally safe I'd maybe err on the side of size 76 mm wheels. That being said after one or two quick sessions the wheels no longer rub in the frame and I LOVE riding rockered.

    • @maytmdmrw
      @maytmdmrw 3 года назад +2

      I would like to have a rocker but I don’t understand if I can do that just by changing something on the plate with the wheels that come with the skate or do I actually have to buy different wheel sizes for the two middle wheels? Sorry if it’s a silly question 😅

  • @p-rollo2048

    Thanks for this review, with the most interesting part (for me) being the customization. I bought one pair cheap without choice of color: the same as the ones reviewed (very girly) and size 41EUR as I'm 42EUR. For the color, I can live with it, and for the size, without the insoles it's OK. The reason of this purchase is to replace broken boots of UpSideDown Damocles (same shape as Razors). I wanted to keep skating them because the frames accept 72mm wheels, were modified to fit some Roces Impala aluminium H-blocks and the soul-plates are made of very hard plastic sliding without wax. Now I think I've got the only Damocles in Pink!

    Got these for 69€ (new!) and I was scared because of the small wheels etc. Good to know I can get 76mm on them, if needed, since my boyfriends skates have 80mm wheels. He will be so much faster. haha Haven't tried them out outdoors yet, but they are way more comfy than any other skate I have tried on at a store. Really excited now! Worst case I will skate with them a few times and upgrade to a different brand in the long run :-) not much lost with less than 70 Euro. Thanks for this video!

    I actually don't mind the colors on these (not sure that I'd wear them myself though), but I definitely believe that in the long term, furthering the 90's retro association with blading is counterproductive. Sure some people will try out skating because "the 90's are in" right now, and some people will pick up the sport again for nostalgia's sake, but if we keep promoting blading as "a 90's thing" we run the risk of undermining the staying power of the sport. Using bright, neon colors reminiscent of 90s blades (and the 90s in general), and even calling a big skating event "What Year Is It?" further cements inline skating as a thing of the past, of a certain time period. And while that might fuel some interest in blading while that time period is trending, if we want it to have a bright future, we have to ditch the bright colors. In order for it to spread and flourish, inline skating, like any other sport, needs to be timeless; it needs to be seen as a thing people DO, not a thing people DID.

      We should for sure present it as something people do, instead of something that people did. that is true
      If the goal is to create a subculture, something that people will identify themselves with, then embracing our roots is necessary for that. No subculture exist without having retro elements.

    • @Shtiipeq
      @Shtiipeq 4 года назад +6

      I can see your point but powerslide, roces etc. relase loads of modern looking skates and you never see this kind of attention (why would you). I don't know, but I think that getting more people on skates and into public is always good. We have been trying to present ourselves as "really serious and not to be made fun of in any way" for how long? And where did it get us to? I like that we're starting to embrace things like mushroom blading. And major outside company producing some blades with proper promo seems awesome to me.

      @@merishaabrahim2107 i don't know about how it compares to Roces as I've never had a proper pair of those before. This is my frist pair of rollerblades (since childhood) and the fashion colours are cute but I got the baby blue and that one has ended up showing any scuffs quite easily. The foam padding inside is nice but I reckon that will need to be replaced sooner or later. Overall I have no complaints, I find that I am not that suited for aggressive skating though but it's still fun. I think getting all this done is really only worth it if you are into aggressive skates, OR if you were more of a plus sized skater? I tried skating on them using the original impalas (not for long tho) and gotta say they make these creaky noises that are probably to do with how I'm like 80kg 😅 No creaky noises since I got the base changed. I still prefer my rollerskates for skating artistic but I might get some artistic rollerblades down the line.

      @Addy Hahaha thanks man, I already got them apx 2 months ago, probably a week after I type this comment hahahaha. They only fit 70mm and 72mm wheels, nice skate to roam about. The shape of the wheels that it comes with are wider that normal, looks a little more like figure skating wheels. Very comfortable. A little on the heavy side I would say. Had it on rocker and pretty easy to do some simple salom. Of course, many little girls grab their parents immediately and say they want them (when you skate pass) since they are so adorable.

    I don't like the thought of monies being trickled down into skateboarding. I knew this before watching the video. I think that Globe can capitalize on the resurgence of nostalgia, which unfortunately for the blading industry, that this could be a come and go thing, and the people buying these skates will do one of 3 things, never buy another pair of skates, get into quads, being they are offered as well, or maybe they will come back and upgrade to an advanced, Rollerblade, Powerslide or even an Adapt boot. Lets hope for the latter obviously. But yea, our community needs to be careful we don't funnel money out of the blading industry. I've also heard that the people they hired to promote these skates were skateboarders and they pretty much talked shit about them the whole time.. that could be just rumors, but that could also be an indication of how the company shows disregard for blading as a whole..

      'Tis nothing novel. Most skateboarding corporations are preoccupied with the sustainability of their own market for natural reasons so why should we be fazed by any of their attempts, authentic or illusive, to promote us on the front lines. They should be sticking to their guns, we should be sticking to our guns.
      In any case, most inliners are learning to be at peace with the properties of our contemporary existential presence. Well, the ones already in the sport are. The fledglings will throw themselves into this discipline of course driven by its resurfacing popularity with nostalgic cravings buried beneath subliminally, and again some will vanish and some will stick around to self-actualize and be de-mystified by this fantastic art so as to unlock its glorious wonders. It is a repetitive tale seen ever since the first uneducated humans centuries ago pointed fingers at an ice skater for how his/her movements were so prone to looking clumsy, and made it an excellent gag. And hey guess what? Even some of the uneducated can ride skateboards, can't they? Some things are always unchangeable. Hardwired. HARDWIRED. Hardwired, you see?
      Regardless we keep on rolling with whatever exposure we can get that can sustain our presence in the market. What I seek to imply is that many far corners of the globe where inline skating is uncommon depend on such instances of micro-fame in order for other corporations to take notice and make new skating products easily accessible to them at shops. So thems the breaks: win-lose.

    He keeps talking about how it looks different in packaging and look than regular rollerblades I think that’s the point I think these are more for you just want to have something cute. A lot of kids especially millennials and gen Z grew rollerblading because that was what was popular in the 90s to early 2000s and they don’t want to convert to roller skates because I mean we’re old now we don’t exactly have the mobility to be falling all the time but they want something cute and usually with rollerblade they have always been very masculine I think the point of impala making these to make feminine rollerblade something that hasn’treally been a thing until this..... I remember even as a little girl it was a challenge to even find like a pink pair of rollerblades and that was when I was like five .... really happy that a new generation of girls gets to have something feminine and still get to rollerblade because I find rollerblading way more fun than rollerskating I can’t get the front brake with the toe lol

      That's a pretty limited way of thinking about it. People who want Razors will probably just buy Razors, but this is good to know for people who get the Impala skates because it gives them more options. Most people learn to skate on freestyle skates, but knowing this saves them from having to buy a whole separate boot if they want to try aggressive, and it just gives them a way to use a different frame for that matter.

      @@danatello8489 The Razors Cult mold is a open mold (what means that it is free to use for everybody), so this is actually what Razors want! I get your point, but in this case it doesn't add up. And besides that you still have to buy Razors soulkits, so best for both worlds.
