After sewing for over 50 years, I don't hear something new very often. I want to thank you for the "no knot" beginning for hand sewing. It was one of those "ah ha" moments for me. Thank you! New subscriber here!
You are so welcome! Welcome to my little channel and thank you for subscribing! I often have people tell me that this trick was new to them, too. I’m just happy I was able to teach something helpful. Those are the little things that can make a big difference. Have a wonderful rest of your day and a great weekend full of fun sewing projects! ❤️✂️🧵🪡
I was so excited to see your tutorial after I watched your pin cushion one! In facr, I was thinking about buying one, but I'm going to make my own 🙂. I love how relatable you are, from sharing your little cutting or sewing mishaps, to your bold and pretty manicure! Thank you! Happy Easter 2024!
Aww, you're so sweet - thank you! I'm so happy that you found this video helpful! Happy Easter to you, as well! Have fun sewing this and all your projects
I have been sewing for many years but today I learned a new way to thread a needle. Plus I may never knot thread again. You are never too old to learn something new.
Hi Lupie! Isn’t it fun to learn new ways to do things that we already knew how to do? I remember learning that way of “not using a knot”, when learning to cross stitch back in the mid ‘80s. I can’t even remember who showed me, but I was amazed and couldn’t believe that I hadn’t thought of it before. Also, if you need a double piece of thread, it’s much easier to thread your needle with that loop end than it is to try to put 2 threads through the eye of the needle. As always, thank you for watching and commenting. I hope you have a great day, Lupie!
I just wanted to say Thank You for this video, I love being able to make my own pin cushion that was so easy and used some of my scraps Thank you also for the loop knot tutorial. I've been sewing for many years but didn't know how to tie a knot using the loop. It works so much better that what I was doing before. I've really enjoying your channel.
Hello! I hope you had a lovely Easter. I have been in my sewing room all day because the grandkids were here yesterday for our Easter feast. Now, I have my feet up, mending my blue jeans and watching you! Very enjoyable video! I hope you have a great week ahead! Thank you for posting and your time.
Hello Brenda! My husband and I had a very quiet, but nice Easter. Sounds like you had a really busy, but enjoyable day. After I got my video uploaded today, I put the ham put in the oven and then started working on some baby items. I need to mail the box out in a day or two, so I’m trying to get all the last minute idea items in there. Oh - I wanted to ask you if you minded if I give you a “shout out” on Wednesday? I wanted people who might not know about your channel to see it. Let me know! Take care!
Oh my….My favorite room in my house is my Creative Sewing Room!!! Sew sew sew is what we do!!! And with scraps is what we do it with!!! This is super cute! Especially if you use lots of pins!!
I sew love this pin cushion. My first time watching. I'm a new sewer and I'm going to make this. Having a little craft sale in the fall and these will make a great addition to my table. Thank you so much and I'll be back
I'm so glad that my video is helpful to you! These sold very well for me, so I'm sure you will do well, too! Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave me a comment!
Hi Maire. I'm really enjoying your chatty, scrappy and useful hints and tips. I've recalled this video and am going to make myself this wrist band pincushion. I am making a scrappy lap quilt quillow for my granddaughter Millie. Really enjoying doing it as she asked me to make it for her.😊❤ Christine.
Yay love this tutorial. Im forever dragging/losing my pincushion ... looking forward to sewing one or two up. One for at the machine, and one for my handsewing box. Thank you sew much for another thorough tutorial!!!
Nanni Bee (love your username, btw), yes I used to keep a few different pin cushions around, but I was dropping them all over the floor and then having to pick those up. That’s when I came up with the idea for the wrist pin cushion to keep them handy and it does. I love mine. It is quite old now and I think I’ve poked too many holes in the cardboard over the and I probably should make myself a new one. Well, I guess I made two for the tutorial , so I might be able to find one lying around someplace, lol!
@@MariesScrappyCreations Thank you ♡ my grandies call me Nanni and my inlaws call me Bee for short. It fits me. I was thinking of adding plastic from those cheapee cutting boards in the base instead of cardboard. Didnt get around to making one today. Im making microwave bowl cozies atm. I have 57 prepped. Its seems to be taking a loooong time, but I need to restock for the next market day in June. Keep up the brilliant job your doing on utube. Its amazing ♡
Yes! I buy the plastic from the Dollar store for many uses, and that’s a great idea! I never thought of that - thanks! 57 bowl cozies?!? You ARE a busy Nanni! Lol.
Hi Vivi! Wow, that’s such a coincidence! I’m in PI, just to let you know. I’m glad you found me and that you liked my videos. I’m just starting out, so there’s a lot more content to come. I’m learning something new every week about filming, so I’m getting a little bit better at videos and lighting. I’m putting out a video on Wednesday and hope to see you then!
@@MariesScrappyCreations I'm in Houlton, I started watching your scraps and pin cushion videos. I'm all in. I've been quilting for over 20 years. Scraps coming out my ears. Thanks for doing these videos.
I am new to your channel and I noticed your wrist pincushion right away, so I was really pleased to see how you made it. I am watching from Foothills, Alberta, Canada. Very much enjoyed your video. Thank you.
Thanks for subbing! Welcome to my channel! This video for the wrist pin cushions was early on, when I first started youtube over two years ago. I'm so happy you've found me and I look forward to getting to know you better! I hope you have a wonderful week!
Nice idea. I made one about the same size but I wrapped it around the base of my machine. I use this every time I sew too. I collect pin cushions and love all the different kinds you can make. Another scrap buster!
Hi Laurie! It’s funny you mention that it wraps around your machine, as when I was a little girl my great grandmother had one around her singer treadle sewing machine and a few years ago I had one around the base of my old Brother machine, just how you mentioned it. It was very handy to have it there. I can’t do it on my new machine, because all my buttons are there. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. Have a great night!
Happy Easter Marie, I'm getting ready to sew my first quilt ever. I've sewn for years but never did a quilt they stress me out but after watching you and others I'm doing a scrappy lap quilt. Thank you for your videos.
Happy Easter to you, too! Oh, that’s so sweet of you to say, thank you! A quilt is a great thing for building sewing confidence. It’s one of the first things that I managed to sew that I felt proud of. My favorite quilts are scrappy ones, so I guess I’d have to say”great choice” for a first quilt! Best of luck on it and thank you so much for watching and for commenting!
Finally, I have got to listen/watch this while I sew on one of my projects. This was a good project. When I need a wrist pin cushion is when I make clothing items...which I seldom make now.
Glad it was helpful! I know that that little trick has been helpful to me ever since I learned it, so I always like to pass things along like that. Happy sewing!
Thanks for showing how to make the wristband pincushion. I had been thinking how useful one would be after watching your Red, White, and Blue tote bag. I sewed some of my scraps together this weekend. I now have pieced scrap fabric for 2 bags. Thank you Marie. I am really enjoying your channel. Christine
Hi Christine! Aww, thanks so much! I'm glad that you are enjoying my content and yeah... this wrist pincushion has been a popular tutorial. It's just something I needed and put it together ❤️
Marie I also have sewn since I was very young and have learned so many fun things along the way. I love this pin cushion and am going to sew one for myself and a few friends as well. Thank you for sharing.🥰
Hey Debbie! I’m so happy that I was able to bring you something that you found useful and that you’re having fun along the way. That’s what matter! I’d love to see the ones yo7 make and I bet your friends will love them!
I'm so glad you did this video.. After watching your video yesterday..i admired your wrist pin cushion. I have several magnetic bowls all over my sewing room. This would make life easier for me.
Yes!!!!!! I needed this! So badly. So I don't sew badly. Lol!!! Actually , I drop pins and knock thing over continuously. This will save the desperate search for dropped pins.
Lol, I LOVE your sense of humor! Thanks for the smiles! I’m happy that you like the pincushion. I love mine and use it every single time I saw. Before I made it, I had three other handmade pincushions that just sat and looked pretty. I did have pins in them, but many times when I grabbed them, they’d fall to the floor or whatever. So one day I figured out that I could make myself this one. If you’re a member of our Facebook group, please be sure to show us if you make one and show us a picture. Thanks so much for watching, commenting and for your sense of humor. I’ll see you on Wednesday!
i also loved your explanation of threading the needle through the loop to avoid a knot. i had seen this on instagram some time back, but could not figure it out, so thanks! I will start using this trick this when sewing buttons.
Thanks, I’m glad you liked it! When I first started RUclips a few months ago, I made a list of all the tutorials that I could think of that I wanted to film and this wrist pin cushion was near the top. But, somewhere in my first 2-4 videos, I had three or four viewers comment and/or message & email me about the pincushion that I was wearing on my wrist and they asked me if I would make a tutorial showing how I made it. I told them it was coming up soon and I actually filmed it before I had planned to. I think they make a great sewing accessory and they really aren’t hard to make. It’s easily the item I used most often! When you make one, if you’re a member of our Facebook page, feel free to put up a picture and show everyone what you made.
Thanks for the inspiration and instructions. I made one cushion using your measurements and made another a bit larger (cut cushion piece 3.5x8.5). I stuffed with wool roving so the pins will stay sharp. I'm a garment sewist so I like a lot of pins on my wrist.
I just had a chance to watch this video and I really enjoyed it. I have been wanting to sew one of these wrist pin cushions since forever, so I’m glad you created this tutorial. I hope you and your family enjoyed a wonderful Easter Day. We were with family for the afternoon and evening and it was a really special day as we also celebrated our granddaughter’s third birthday! I love your videos as I feel like I’m sitting at my sewing machine and sewing with a friend! Have a wonderful Wednesday and see you Wednesday!
It sounds like you had a fabulous Easter, Nancy! A perfect family day, all around. Here, it was just a quiet day with Johnny and I. I cooked a small ham, a few potatoes and carrots and that was about it. I did get some sewing done, but other than that it was just a quiet day. I bet you’re going to make that pincushion, because there’s no zipper, ha ha! You knew I had to tease you about that, right? Lol. I’m glad you feel like you’re sitting with a friend because that’s definitely how I feel when I’m making the videos. I spend so very much time by myself, so making the videos is like visiting with friends. Thank you for your sweet words, Nancy.
I was shown a trick when I was very young that if you have a dull needle you just swipe the tip parallel to your scalp, and it sharpens it up. I’ve used this trick throughout my life, never hurting myself as I’m careful, and gentle.
Aww, you're so sweet! I'm glad you liked the video! I made one years ago to go around my vintage Singer, as I could remember my grandmother always having one around hers, too. I used Velcro to fasten that one, but it was fuller and a bit different than the wrist type. I hope you have fun!
I just discovered you yesterday and watched this scrap wrist pincushion tutorial. I was going to buy one but I thought why not make one? I enjoy your videos (I watched a few) and I think your delivery and chit chat is really enjoyable. You are easy to follow with no silly talk or unnecessary laughing. I look forward to going through your videos and finding other projects to make.
Welcome!! I’m so glad that you found me and I’m happy that the pin cushion tutorial is something that caught your eye. This has been one of my most popular videos and a lot of people have made these pincushions. They’re just something I came up with one day and then, when I started my channel, I thought that people would like a tutorial, since I was constantly being asked where I bought my pincushion. I hope you LOVE yours!
Marie: after a lifetime of creating, I learned something new from this😳🤔 how you thread your needle AND tie your not on both ends👏👏👏 whodathunk?!!🤪 I have always loved to sew and other crafts! can’t see myself not doing it. ❤️😀
Well there, Rachel... Those are always the best little nuggets, aren’t they? I love it when I stumble upon something that I think “wow, how did I not know that?” But I know exactly what you mean and I’m glad I could help you out. Thank you for commenting and watching. See you on Wednesday!
I’m so glad you liked it! I use mine every single day, although yesterday I was thinking of making a new one. There’s actually not anything wrong with mine, I’ve just been looking at the same print since day one, lol. There’s a woman on my Facebook group who is making them for everyone in her quilt guild (I think that’s the group). Thanks for watching and stopping in to comment!
I’m loving this idea! I bought a magnetic one off Amazon and it’s terrible and kept thinking surely I can just make one and this has taken the thinking out of it for me! Thankyou!
I understand what you mean about buying things without being able to check them out fully. It’s so hard when we can only see them and not actually touch them to see if they’re something that we really want. Something I would suggest when you make your pincushion, if you want to, is that to use a piece of plastic instead of the cardboard. I totally forgot to mention this in the video. You could use any type of plastic food container that you could cut out or maybe something like what we have here at dollar tree, which is a disposable cutting mat that they sell (for cutting veggies, etc). A lot of people use them as templates for patterns. Thanks for coming over to visit, Adam! I subscribed to your channel and I’m looking forward to binge watching over the weekend. Happy sewing!
@@MariesScrappyCreations I was thinking among those lines with using some thick acetate I have that I use in the brim of the flat caps I make. Would be more flexible and washable it was thinking, I’m using my evening bath time as a brillaint excuse to lay there binging your videos haha I’ll be a prune by the next time I upload 😂 have a great week and happy scrappy sewing 🧵
Oh Teri, I'm so happy to hear that and I can't wait to see a picture!! I bet it was much easier than what you were thinking it was. Honestly, you won't know what you did before you had one. It only took me about a week to get used to wearing it and now, I don't think I could sew without it.
Hi Cindy! I appreciate your understanding. I’m just that type of person who tries to make sure that everything goes smoothly and that I reply to everyone. But as I said in the video, there will come a point pretty soon where I won’t be able to. Have a great night and thanks for watching and commenting.
I’m going to make this pin cushion today. I’m also going to sew some of my scraps together. I love your relaxed attitude. I am a brand new subscriber! I’m going to watch everyone of them. Thank you for sharing your wonderful ideas.
A follow up, I’ve made 2 pin cushions and a scrappy mat large enough to use as a mat for my sewing machine. It is so much fun and they come together so quick!
Hi Debbie! I'm so glad that you enjoyed the pincushion tutorial, as well as my videos, in general. The nats are fun to sew, too! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and then to comment and let me know. I hope you have a wonderful day and happy sewing!
As always thoroughly enjoyed listenening and watching this tutorial...your chat has me chatting back as if on a live lol! I'm going to make one for my daughter who's staying with me at the moment. I noticed you sew without a thimble, I do too I must of bought dozens of styles as well lol xx
Hey Jo, how are you doing? I’m glad you enjoyed the video and I don’t mind if you talk to me during a video. I can’t say I’ll answer you, but I’m there in spirit, lol. But really, thank you so much for watching and commenting. I’d love to see the one that you make, and I hope to share it on our Facebook group like you did with your bag. Have a great night!
Thanks for the inspiration, i did mine a little different, used elastic in the band instead of velcro( actually had none) And under the pins I used some small plastic dividers that came out my Tackle/sewing box
Good morning Doris! You're very welcome! A lot of people did variations of them, that doesn't bother me a bit. I love for people to use their own creativity and make it their own. I also now ise thin, flexible plastic underneath the batting, Although the one I made with food boxes is still working well, even though I have washed it. I've still never been poked, but i have changed to plastic in all my newer ones.
Love this tutorial - making my second one today. The only part I’m having a problem with is sewing through the cardboard - my needle doesn’t want to ‘bend’ back through to catch the strap … do you have any tips on this and/or do you recommend a specific type of needle? Many thanks x
Hello! Thank you so much for watching my tutorial and for your question. I don’t sew through the actual cardboard… I’m only catching the fabric that is right next to the cardboard… I hope that makes sense. My wording in the video is probably confusing, knowing me, lol. It’s been quite a while since I made this tutorial , so my memory is a bit sketchy, to say the least. I have changed a bit how I make this now. Instead of using cardboard pieces, I use the disposable chopping mats from the Dollar Tree (one layer of it) cut into the same size and shape as I would the cardboard. I will leave a link at the end of this comment n case you might like to give it a try, too. I hope that I was of some help, but please let me know if I can do anything else. Here is that link: www.dollartree.com/flexible-chopping-mats-11x14in/145661
Thank you, Marie. I’m so happy I asked the question instead of trying to find a bendier needle 😂 I used my one for the first time on Saturday whilst loading a quilt onto my mid-arm frame - so much easier pinning using your wrist pin cushion. I’m taking them to a Guild meeting in North Wales on Saturday as an example of how to make useful and pretty things using scraps of fabric. I’ll be gifting one to a sewing friend too. So happy I found you! Thank you x
I was wondering if using a dab of Fabric Glue on the back of the pin cushion and the half way point of the strap to hold it stead in place while you stitch? I am learning so much watching your videos, thank you.
I suppose that would probably work. I say “suppose” because I have never tried fabric glue. But if you try it, please let me know, as I’m very interested in that. When I made my first one, I just stuck a pin down and through it to hold it in place, but your idea would certainly hold it better, from the sounds of it.
The ruff piece of velcro is called the 'hooks', the soft is referred to as the 'loop'. When I made mine, I used a piece of no roll elastic since I wasn't able to tighten the velcro snug enough. Thanks for your tutorial!
I'm a longarmer and have worn out a couple of wrist pin cushions. The ones I use are larger, but I think it will be easy enough to sew up a new one for myself. Shoot, maybe I'll make a couple and match the quilt of the day or my shirt. Okay, probably not, but it's a thought. Thank you so much for the tutorial. I would way rather choose my own fabrics. I haven't had a choice in my previous pin cushions. Can't wait to give it a go.
I'm so glad that you found this video when you did and that you enjoyedit! I hope that you made one. This has been a very popular video tutorial. I love my wrist pincushion and I hope you do, too!
From the minute I started following you I was hoping I would find this video. Can't wait to make one for myself and my sewing bestie. Oh, and my mother always told me if someone was close enough to point out a mistake, they were too close...
@@MariesScrappyCreations just an update...before I could cut out and make one of these for myself, my kids gave me a wrist magnetic bracelet pin "cushion" for Christmas. I love it, but still have wrist envy for your cool bracelet.
Hi Mike! Thanks so much for playing along in our little game! That’s great that you sew a variety of items. I don’t sew clothing, although I did sew a sweatshirt when I was in high school. It was in Home Ec class and we had to choose a piece of clothing to sew and I picked out a pattern for a sweatshirt. My mother had sewed a lot of our clothes when we were kids, so she had a lot of experience, and she told me not to start off with something stretchy and that I would probably have a hard time with it. But what teenager ever listened to their parents? I bought the pattern and fabric and of course, I had a terrible time making that thing and I never tried making another piece of clothing., lol.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you found me, too and that you're enjoying my content. Thank you very much for your comment, it means a lot! Take care and happy sewing!

I’m sure you’ll love your clapper, I know I love mine! Thank you again for watching, always commenting and being so supportive… It means a lot! See you on Wednesday!
I love your tips in this tutorial.. I have soooo many scraps I didn't want to part with unless making something practical. I will be trolling your videos for more. Thank you for sharing. :)
Hello there Kathy! I'm so glad you liked my tutorial! My channel is only about 6 months old, but I started it because I have so many scraps and I wanted to use them in as many creative ways as I could. I thought that by making videos, I could share those ideas with you all. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment. I really appreciate that!
Hi, I've only just seen this and have found it to be great. I make things for a Hedgehog Rescue to help with funds and have made pin cushions previously but these are so easy, yet look fantastic. Thanks for the tip re backstitching along the Velcro when stitching in place. I've never thought to do that before. As I struggle a bit with handsewing now (arthritis in hands), I sewed the pouch onto the strap before sewing the sides of the strap. Actually, it made it easier to turn the pocket as the straps could be pulled through. So, now only need to sew the end of the pouch, after stuffing it. So easy and so very quick. Ideal for the Hedgehogs :) Thanks so much
Hi Julie! I’m so glad that you found the video helpful. Good for you for helping raise funds for such a great cause! I’ve made quite a few of these overtime and have changed and tried many different methods, one very similar to what you mention. (after video, lol) A few of my other subscribers have made various changes, as well. Of course I suppose that’s how things go, we change as we make more of them or figure out a newer or easier way that works best for us. I am happy to hear your way, thank you for sharing that and sorry for the arthritis. I have RA, sometimes it bothers me more than other times. Also, I apologize for the delay in response, but I’ve been very sick, so I’m playing catch up.
@@MariesScrappyCreations No problems re any delay in response. I only wrote my comment y'day. Sorry to hear you've been unwell. I hope you're recovering well now. Yes, I'm sure there will be lots of variations flying around, as different people have an idea re how to make it easier, one way or another. One of the beauties of sewing is that one can think 'outside the box' and adapt :)
Hi Debra! Thank you! I would love to see it on Facebook. I only get over to the Facebook group about 3 times a week, just simply because I run out of time to do everything. But I will see it. Happy sewing! 😊
I came across your video, and seemed to have an immediate connection with you. As a child I took classes in school to look earn too SEW!!!! I sewed got years. In school andvthennn no on my own. I will be 67 on my next birthday, in early July i truest love pleasant and open people whom lines to teach . I think you can learn a lot more from them especially if they share a connection feel free to contact me at any time, maybe we can share notes on subjects that are difficult to handle. Love your presentation, and content.!

I am new to your page, but I really appreciate your tips. I made four of these wrist band pincushions this weekend. Three to gift and one for myself. Thank you
Hello and welcome Alana! I’m so happy that you found me! My channel isn’t quite 3 months old, but I learn more each week, whether it’s about lighting, camera angles, whatever. It makes me happy to know you found this tutorial helpful and made some for yourself and others. I have a Facebook page called “Marie scrappy creations” if you’d like to join. I am new to your videos …this is the first one … this was well explained! I made one before , it doesn’t fit me so nicely ….your version probably would because of your many tips , especially not sewing the top to the end . That extra space creates flexibility for the band to curve around the wrist much nicer. Your band is sturdier because of the interfacing and your Velcro placement is much more thought out . Great tutorial! Thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Btw … you’re lucky to come from a family of sewists! Wonderful skill to have ….so glad to see many people like you teaching us to enjoy this skill. 👍👍
@@berniecelee5062 Hi Berniece! Thank you so much for such a detailed comment! I did try to make it easy to understand, so I really appreciate that you felt I explained it well. I’m glad you liked it! Hi ! Sorry, I am not in FB ….I am not into social media . My vice is RUclips and that’s as far as I venture into . My hubby thinks I am on RUclips too much ….hahahaha . That’s cause TV don’t teach us much . I am about learning. It started with cooking and it grew from there into sewing . So far , it’s fun ….
I have done this pin cushion and I used heavy plastic found cardboard even double was not enough. I also put elastic for the band much better for my waist is very small
I’m so glad you made it work for you 💕. I still have (and use) my original ones made with cardboard, but now, I make them with the thin, plastic disposable cutting boards from Dollar Tree.
Hope you enjoy making one! I use mine every time I sew and I can't get by without it, lol. This has been a very popular video and a lot of people have made them I did make a change since this video, though. I buy the plastic disposable cutting boards at the Dollar Tree and cut a small piece of that, instead of the cardboard.
Hi Mary! I had the idea for the ironing mat and I told my husband about it. He came into the sewing on one day with all the supplies and while I directed him, he put it together. He probably could’ve done it on his own, but I was the supervisor, lol! I plan to feature it on an upcoming What’s Up Wednesday and show it more in depth and just kind of tell what we made it out of. It’s one of those things that can be made out of many different items. I love it and don’t know what I did before I had it. Well, I guess I used the ironing board, ha ha. But it truly does make things so much easier.
Maybe double-sided upholstery tape and then just tack the corners?? I know that when it gets hard to push the needles through it leaves dents in my fingers. I do have a thimble but it's not my favorite thing to use. Since I've got some arthritis in my hands I shy away from tougher sewing projects.
I spy with my little eye some minky in the corner! Right in front of me is yup a minky stash.I like the idea of a wrist pin cushion,we sew in our kitchen ,and our dog loves to find our dropped pins and chew on them. Iam like are you kidding me,when did i drop another pin.So i count the pins out and in.She also love our bobbins grrrrrrr.Any how time to get to bed.Easters calorie count was probably 3000 or more, sleep is the last thing i need but if i stay up the cake will start calling me :)
That’s so funny that you noticed the minky fabric, Lorraine. I just said to my husband last night that I hope our daughter doesn’t spy what’s in the corner of the camera lens, because it’s for her baby shower (notice I used the word “spy”) . And then I said “no, I don’t think anyone will notice that.” So I just woke up and went to read the comments, saw yours and I actually started laughing out loud, because you spied the Minky fabric. 😂😅. Also, yesterday I filmed for an upcoming What’s Up Wednesday by showing the minky and PUL fabric I bought the other day. It’s my first time buying minky and I was so excited! Your dog gets into your pins?!? Our cat does that, but I didn’t think about a dog doing the same! Last year, when she was a kitten, she would get up on my sewing area (which was in the dining room at the time), and she would pull the pins out of my wrist pincushion one by one, with her mouth. She would have them strewn all over the place. She’s obsessed with bobbins, too! I can’t leave a bobbin anywhere, because she just won’t leave them alone. She does love to chase them as they roll across the floor though, and it’s kinda cute. I’m just afraid she’s going to swallow a pin. Before I moved my sewing area to an upstairs spare bedroom, I always had to throw a quilt over my sewing area at night, so that she couldn’t get into everything. I had some bobbins that were colored in pastels that I purchased that didn’t end up fitting in my machine and I do let her play with those. At first I wondered if this was a good idea, but she actually leaves my other ones alone now. Calories? I can’t even go there! Lol. Take care and thanks for watching and commenting on my video. See you on Wednesday!
Hi Marie! Thanks for the video, it was very informative. I would just like to ask you if you have used elastic for the wrist instead of the velcro? I find velcro annoying as it catches onto other fabric and makes a mess. I know how to do the elastic part, but, I'm wondering if it will interfere with centering the pin cushion? Thank you
Hello! Actually, I haven't ever had it catch any threads or fabric. I suppose if I had cut it longer, it might, but I haven't had any issues with it. I suppose you could use elastic, and I don't see why it wouldn't work. When made the way I showed in the video, one piece of Velcro overlaps the other. So it's all covered and isn't open to grabbing anything. 🥰 thanks so much for your question/comment
Well, I have read about using it in pincushions before and about how it's supposed to keep your pins sharp. I don't see why you couldn't use it. Let me know how it goes! Take care and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day!
Hi Ginette and welcome to both my channel and my Facebook group! I’m so happy you found me and subscribed. I’m fairly new, I haven’t been at this very long and the Facebook group is even newer. What types of things do you like to sew? I hope to see you on Wednesday for my “What’s Up Wednesday” video! Thank you so much for watching and commenting, it means a lot.
Hi Marie. I love to make quilts.. 4 quilts so far. 3 of them are scrappy. I've given them to people I know and love.. its called one big hug. I'm also working on a scrap quilt for me ,middle piece is 36in by 36 in. I've got 3 more sections to attach on they are each about Size of placement. It's true thst scraps of fabric bring us back when we bought the material and used it in different projects. I've made key chains and book marks.. I've wanted to make a project bag... recently I've made and gifted grocery totes. Kept 3 for myself. Now I'd loveto make 4 lap quilts for chemo patients. And 4 for Nicu... take care. Hugs
@@ginettelefebvre8817 wow, you have been BUSY!!!! Thanks so much for telling me all about what you’re up to. I love quilts and love to hear about them, too!
How did you determine the length of your darts to be two-and-a-half in when the fabric was originally 13 in square and the bottom of the pie plate was eight and a half inches?
Hi! I noticed this was under the pincushion video, but I believe you’re talking about my tutorial for a pie plate cozy. I am definitely a person who is just “winging it” most of the time, ha ha. Usually what I do is try something out with a measurement and if it’s close, I adjust it to fit my need. Sometimes, I’m way off and I have to re-sew or re-cut. I really don’t remember how I came up with it as it’s been a while, but I do know that I had to play around with my measurement a bit before I got it to fit.
I'm new to your channel. I watched your interview with Steven from the Idiot Quilter. I can't wait to try and make one of these. What needle do you recommend for hand sewing? Thank you!
Hello Jennifer and welcome to my channel! Thank you so much for coming over and watching. I appreciate your comment. I don’t really remember exactly which needle size I used, but generally I would say it was probably about 1.75 inches long (if that helps), because I would’ve had to have had something long enough to get around there. It can be a little tricky to get it started, but once you get going, it’s clear sailing. Those have been very popular. A lot of people on my Facebook group have made those. I have one lady making one for each of the ladies in her quilting guild!
It might be important, but it’s not quite everything. I think it’s more important to finish a project once we started, no matter what color thread we’ve used. You should be proud of yourself, I am!
I don’t know how you could possibly comment on every comment in RUclips, FM, Messenger or emails. I would not be offended if you didn’t respond. Thank you for your amazing tutorials, love the wrist pin cushion.
Hi Sue! This has been quite a popular tutorial, as a lot of people like using a wrist pin cushion. I made it one day because I simply couldn't stand picking my regular pin cushion up off the floor one more time, haha.
It will fit quite a variety, but I would have to be upstairs to measure it. It will fit from really small (child size) to very large (large men's wrist size, I'd guess) because of the way the Velcro is put on there. I will measure it later and come back and reply again to this topic.
I have put it in the washer before and I didn't have any issues. BUT, since publishing this video, I now use plastic instead of cardboard. They're actually disposable cutting boards from Dollar Tree. Here is a link: www.dollartree.com/flexible-chopping-mats-11x14in/145661
Well, I’m glad that I could be of help to you! I know how that goes, because that’s how I came up with making this one in the first place, ha ha. Have a great night Linda!

You’re so funny Lisa! Are you a poet? You didn’t tell me this about yourself! Lol.
That’s great! I’m sure she’s going to LOVE it! This pincushion is something I use every time I sew. Have fun!
Lol.

Awesome! I learned something new. I didn’t know about making a “loop” to thread needle for hand sewing. Thank you!

Christine

I'm so glad you did this video.. After watching your video yesterday..i admired your wrist pin cushion. I have several magnetic bowls all over my sewing room. This would make life easier for me.
Hi Laura! I'm so glad you liked it! My wrist pincushion is the one thing I don't think I could get by without!
I am so glad that you found this video helpful and yes, I love that little trick with the thread.
Love the wrist pincushion. I'm going to sew one asap for me.

Interesting. I've never heard of that before. Usually I've heard of tips and hints, but never that one. Hmmm

Thanks for the inspiration, i did mine a little different, used elastic in the band instead of velcro( actually had none)
And under the pins I used some small plastic dividers that came out my Tackle/sewing box

I’m sure you’ll love your clapper, I know I love mine! Thank you again for watching, always commenting and being so supportive… It means a lot! See you on Wednesday!
Love to SEW and will surely make this wrist pincushion. Thanks Marie
I'm glad! I hope you have a lot of fun making this!
Your instruction techniques are excellent Thank for sharing .
You're very welcome, Rhonda! I'm glad you like my videos and teaching style. I hope to see you around often!
I love this, tomorrow I will be making one. I’ll post on Facebook when I am done
Hi Debra!
Hello Winona! It’s so nice to meet you and I’m so glad you found my channel. Thank you for watching and commenting on the video. I’m glad you felt a connection with me, as I try to reach out to people through my videos. I like to feel that I am making new friends in my sewing room.
Rewatching! Making Christmas gifts & finally, one for me!! BTW, I have that same MiniMouse fabric! Great minds! I am so tickled to have found your channel! 🥰
Hi Lesa! Oh, you're already working on Christmas gifts? I really need to be, but I haven't started yet, haha. Don't you just love it when you see someone else have the same fabric you have? I love playing "I spy" with other people's fabrics. I'm so glad you found my channel, too. You are a hoot!
I just love to sew everyday all day love I'm going to definitely sew on of these thx
I hope you have fun sewing one, I know I couldn't sew without mine on my wrist.
A lot of people show everyone the items that they’ve sewn, either from the tutorials or just what they happen to be working on. If you’re on Facebook, we’d love to have you join us!
Thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Btw … you’re lucky to come from a family of sewists!
Welcome aboard, I’m so glad you found me! If you’re on Facebook, please feel free to join my group (search for Marie’s Scrappy Creations). Quite a few have made them and posted pictures on group.
I’m SEW happy I’m able to watch you. I’m going to try your pin cushions. Another idea for gifts. XOU
Hi Betty! I'm so happy that you have subscribed! I hope you have fun making your own pin cushion!
Thank You for the pincushion tutorial, I am hoping to sew one in the near future.. ❤❤❤
I hope you try one! 🧵🪡📍
Love the colors you picked out
Thank you so much!
I was going to work out how to make one and now I don't have to! Thanks for sharing!
I love it when things work out that way, don’t you? Thanks for stopping by and for commenting!
I think I will be making one for myself, thank you for sewing us how 🙂
You're welcome, Robin! I hope you make one. They're very handy to have.
I love to sew!
Me, too! 🥰
Great tutorial can’t wait to make this, thanks
Hope you enjoy making one! I use mine every time I sew and I can't get by without it, lol. This has been a very popular video and a lot of people have made them I did make a change since this video, though. I buy the plastic disposable cutting boards at the Dollar Tree and cut a small piece of that, instead of the cardboard.
Did you make that little ironing mat?
Since I've got some arthritis in my hands I shy away from tougher sewing projects.
very good ideas, Ann! Thanks so much!
Thank you I e been looking for a pattern to make a wrist pin cushion and yours is so easy thank you
You're very welcome! Thank you for watching and commenting!
I'll be needing to make this❤
I use mine EVERY day! Happy sewing!

Love the video. Will be making some real soon. Thanks
You're very welcome, I hope you have fun sewing some of your own!
Definitely making a few of these for gifts…curious, what do you think about stuffing with steel wool? 🤷🏻♀️ Thanks, Marie!
Well, I have read about using it in pincushions before and about how it's supposed to keep your pins sharp. I don't see why you couldn't use it. Let me know how it goes! Take care and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day!
Marie Thank you 😊 for the tutorial on the sew nice Wrist Pin Cushion. Love your channel. Blessings 🙌 BebeOliver
I always wanted to know where you got that wrist pin coshion from, now I know you made it, awesome, I want one

Hi. I just found you. I just subscribed snd I joined your Facebook group. Thanks.

Going to make this!!

“Sew “many wonderful projects to make !😊
How did you determine the length of your darts to be two-and-a-half in when the fabric was originally 13 in square and the bottom of the pie plate was eight and a half inches?
I love your sewing machine table surround. Did you have it made?
No, I actually bought it that way. Thank you for your comment. And your question. Have a great week!
Thank you for the pincushion
You're very welcome 💞
A friend gave me a large amt. of uncarded wool. Could I stuff the pincushion with the wool instead of polyfiller.
Hi! I don't see why that wouldn't work. I'm a big believer in using what we have on-hand, so I'd definitely give it a try. Have fun!
Colour coordinating your thread is very important (I think) … I didn’t and I should have for sure🤣
How large of a wrist will this size fit? Thank you, Cindy Nelson
It will fit quite a variety, but I would have to be upstairs to measure it. It will fit from really small (child size) to very large (large men's wrist size, I'd guess) because of the way the Velcro is put on there. I will measure it later and come back and reply again to this topic.
You said you wash yours? How does the cardboard stand up to the washing?
I have put it in the washer before and I didn't have any issues. BUT, since publishing this video, I now use plastic instead of cardboard. They're actually disposable cutting boards from Dollar Tree. Here is a link: www.dollartree.com/flexible-chopping-mats-11x14in/145661
