Devastation of the Monarchs | Yugioh Lore

- As promised, today we take a look at the monarchs. There was more to look at with this Yugioh archetype than I had initially anticipated. The monarchs have been around for the majority of the games life span, and very little was known about them until Master Duel gave us a taste of the lore. Do you think we will continue to get more of the fusion monarchs?

Running a dnd campaign rn where these guys are the villains.
I hope it takes place in Battle City
@libertaliagamesupply762 It's a unique setting where various monsters just exist Pokémon mystery dungeon style.
@@yusharider Oh, that's interesting.
i interpreted the lore as like, the monarchs are a literal force of nature, they exist to wipe the slate clean and then when they're done Ehther comes and brings things back to a livable level-- notice that she does like, fix the buildings or save people, but she causes plants to grow over the ruins. that's why it says it will happen again-- it's a cycle, where civilizatoin flourishes until it reaches a point where the monarchs awaken, destroy it, and then Ehther starts it anew. it'd also be why Ehther doesn't step in to STOP the destruction, cuz she doesn't want to. it's part of the natural order.
Maybe the Monarchs are a reset button, and Either regenerates the land anew? Seems like a reasonable interpretation of the lore
Thats actually a super cool idea. They just come wipe the slate clean so a new species can emerge. Thats how we have so many different archetypes that looks so different.
I always interpeted them as forces of nature given form
Thestalos: volcanic eruptions
Mobius: floods and storms
Raiza: tornados
Zaborg: lightning
Granmarg: earthquake
Caius: disease and death
Now ehther and erebus mess it up but they could just be the alpha and the omega, beginning and end.
As this world, through billions and billions of years, always had to struggle through cataclysmic events, life always found a way and today here we are. Maybe this is what the monarchs represent, erebus sends his catastrophic forces to destroy the world only for ehther to bring life back again and the cycle begins anew.
Now, if they ever make more monarchs like they did with the lv10 thestalos, this could expand their lore a bit, assuming they will do, we have 2 slots of combinations possible between raiza, mobius, granmarg and zaborg and my money is on both raiza/zaborg and mobius/granmarg unions
Recently discovered your videos and just.... well done fam. Keep it up. You explore a side of yugioh that not many do, in a way ive never seen anyone do it. Im definitely rooting for you.
Thanks for being here, I appreciate your confidence. It’s a lot of work to try to find the information but it’s rewarding when a video finally gets posted
Oh yeah, come to think in rush duel they re 2 exclusive monarch.
Wihel the wisdom monarch who s cyberse type and estrome the star monarch who s galaxy type( a type exclusive to rush duel, basically it cover everything space related in general)
Both have a mega form, a trap that show them turn and into said forms and a vassal.
But really, its no different than what s already in the video.
I’ve never even seen these lol I wish I would have found them just to include them because I really like the art on the Megas in particular. You’ve always got the next level info for me
@@libertaliagamesupply762 Honestly, i wish i d have told you sooner bt i completly forgot because again, as you explained, monarch lore isn't exactly deep.
The most interesting one was Angmarl and he’s one of the more obscure ones. I was surprised to see there wasn’t more official lore from Konami. You got any thoughts on Nouvelles, Fiendsmiths, or Agents?
@@libertaliagamesupply762 For nouvelles, i think you can find everything on yugipedia. Their names are very blatant about what they re supposed to be.(combinaison of french + demon from art goetia + Nouvelle cuisine) also Poissoniere is clearly show being a rival to patissciel.
Nouvelle did also make an appearence as a played deck in the OCG structure manga chapter 52 and 53. The guy who played them was dueling against a suship deck so that s something i guess. Unfortunatly, its not translated in english yet.
Fiendsmith. No lore currently.
Engraver seems to be going around hunting demon and feeding them to requiem as show on the spell "tract". The 2 other links seems to be requiem, the actually monster, being released from its coffin and the fusion seem to be engraver itself using requiem s power.
For some reasons, the link 2 looks like "despair from the dark".
Also lacrima appear on the LV6 fusion s artwork.
Honestly, their name are just a lot of Latin hymns and liturgical rites from Western Christianity
Rumors said they may be based on the devil may cry franchise.
Agent are clearly based on planet with hyperion being the sun. But with this, its just better to look at everything related to "sanctuary of the sky" such as parshath, the so called "counter fairy" group and also zera even though you did cover that one already as they seem to all live in or around there for some reasons.
Lot of greek myth involved in all of those.
Archlord zerato did make an appearence in the gx anime and was just used as a way for the rival to test the main character strenght. Nothing deeper about that
And as far as i know none of the above made an appearence in rush duel aside of darklord zerato who s technically related but that one was just to give a big monster to a specific deck rather than being lore driven.
Fuck yeah!!!! These lore vids keep getting fucking juicy. Please keep uploading more
Can’t stop, won’t stop
Love these!
What if the villains from Shoval Knight gained ultra instinct.
Subbed. I thoroughly enjoyed this and I'm probably going to binge watch any others.
Chills
May the fires of Thestalos warm you, traveler
I love the mood of this video along with the ancient history of 2004 👴🏿
The worst part is being old enough to remember all of it happening lol
I remember these used to be bosses in Yu-gi-oh! Cross duel.
I never played it, but I could imagine they were good in a limited format like that. I could see them popping up here and there in advanced format for years to come too
@@libertaliagamesupply762 yeah one of them would be a random boss monster for an NPC from Yu-gi-oh tag force series and miss guild from a free DS Japan only video game and pro manga. They would be 4 vs 1 boss event.
oh he cooked with this one
Cook? Is this a request for Nouvelles?
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Meanwhile the unchained monsters can you believe these guys amateurs alright demon twins let’s go out killing again. Unchained twins o boy yay!
I don’t know, the Unchained link monster look pretty ferocious. Who do you think wins in a fight between the two? lol
@@libertaliagamesupply762 well in Japan the unchained are known as the destroy archetype. I’ll give you the basic lore You can look up the rest in fact that might be a good idea with the new card unchained soul of king Yami. The story goes there once was a very powerful sorcerer who may have studied Taoism then one day the villages locked him up because they thought he will because too powerful the villagers tortured him horribly then one day the sorcerer decided to destroy mankind and he summoned two demons that took on the forms of children but had the blood lust of true Demons and really big dogs. Anyway that’s as much as I know.
@@libertaliagamesupply762 am going to say unchained in both deck and lore.
Finally, monarch lore.
They kind of remind me of the guardian monsters. One unique for each element +2 bonus power houses (Eatos and dreadschythe)
Is it me or does angmaro’s armor vaguely look like dark magician’s armor 3:57
Actually yeah, now that you mention it. The shoulder pads and hood thing look very similar
Pure Black Air Force activity
Mischievous and deceitful
Chicanerous and deplorable
