I would say that "warning" at the end was irrelevant. Basicailly all you did was push the locking mechanism up to make it release. You wouldn't damage anything doing that.

Agreed. I just used a knife to open the door and it just made it open.. there is no special seal I damaged

😂Are you serious... just "throw it away" (after opening the door)?! Far cheaper to take the cover off, slip the catch mechanism to open and reorder the invariably broken part (see ruclips.net/video/xne8GQ1n5Yw/видео.html).
