- Installing a wind safety chain will stop a storm door from bending the closer or damaging the door. It will also protect porch lights and railings from a storm door that gets caught by the wind and unexpectedly blows open.

Thank you! I hate asking guys to help me with this kind of stuff. I have tools snd a brain, but I don’t always know what things are called. I got this done in minutes, all by myself, in the middle of a blizzard. You ROCK!
You are welcome. Way to go! Wow installed during a blizzard.
Simple, clear and concise communication with illustrations. Thank you!!

You are welcome, it's my pleasure to help.
Thank you… I know it’s not that complicated but the folks at Home Depot could not describe anything on installation… The guy actually said to me “try it a few different ways one of them will work”… I had a lot of different comebacks for that, but I just left it alone but again thank you
You are welcome. Thanks for watching the video and taking the time to comment.
You are awesome! Thank you so much for ALL of these videos. (Also thank you for the warning about the roll up screen, cuz I was a few minutes away from making a mood-destroying mistake. There would have been so much cursing.)
You are welcome. Good to hear my warning about drilling through the screen has saved you from making a mistake. I do my best to keep the videos concise, but not omitting important tips.
Outstanding video! :)

Great video, thank you. Question - Where did you find your small piece of flat PVC?
I think it was a scrap piece from an 8 foot piece of pvc trim.

So how do you install them with the roll up screens up top
I don't know. For sure you wouldn't want to be drilling a hole you your screen. When I was shopping for a new storm door I saw some people comment that you can't install a wind chain if the door has a roll up screen. If you have 2 closers, as far as I know, wind chains aren't installed on those doors. You might try contacting the manufacturer of the door. Please let us know if you come up with a solution.
This is my issue too and the reason why I'm here. I guess I'll just have to contact the manufacturer but I'm not very hopeful.
@@Know-How-Now We ended up somehow drilling above the screen. It must have just missed it. I'm not sure what the "proper way" is but it worked for us.

Good to know that it can be done. Which brand/model of door? It might help someone else who is adventurous give it a try.
Thanks champ
You are welcome.
Is there an alternative to install the wind chain even tho I have a pulldown screen storm door.
Try reading the comments, I sort of remember that someone found a way to do it and left a comment.
@@Know-How-Now Yes, I saw the comment. I will try it, but I'm afraid it's a bit risky since I'm renting and not actually a homeowner. The landlord recently installed a storm door and I realized the wind would slam it open more than 90 degrees.
Maybe contact your landlord about your concerns about the door being damaged by the wind. You have put them on notice so you won't be blamed for damage to the door and maybe they will take the chance to put a chain on it. Do it in writing and keep the correspondence, you'll have proof that you warned them.
@@Know-How-Now I went ahead and installed it. I watched a video where it shows the screen and where it's located. It was a success. No damage to the screen.
Great. Thanks for letting us know that you were successful.
Thank you very much .i greatly appreciate the details for the preparation and details (mise en place )is what gives you the best chance in not fails .!!the pics were great for i could pause and catch a prolonged peek .as to my storm door it is boss on FLEEK .Keep up the amazing work i wish u mad success..ok let me get back to work less i digressed ✌️....🫳🎤
